that's right, time consuming but the only way nm

Extext is time consuming..
I know it's a pretty good program compared to most, but after working for MDI-MD, I can tell you that it takes way too much time!  I work on MDI's Bayscribe and it's so simple!  You just go to the website, type the text into the box and click submit.  Done!  It tells you how many lines right after you type it. You can immediately start on your next report.  No delays.  I feel so spoiled by the Bayscribe system, it would be really hard to change companies!
That sounds very time consuming. nm

It is not time consuming, at least on the account I was on. sm
Was there for 2 years.  The info in header is filled in by what the doctor gives, there are no lists to look up, etc.  It was a very efficient system.  You receive the files through DVI, and type in Word or WPI.  Everything was batched, most of the ADT pulled in from the DVI.  You just pulled up a Word document, pulled in each header, filled in a few placed and typed.  Not a problem.  Of course, I can't speak for every account.  The QA is very strict.  They expect you to follow the account specs very closely.  I found it to be a great place to work, although not easy.  People were wonderful to work with.  They dumped the work on me at a given time (my choice) and I had 6-8 hours to return it.  It worked out very well.
This is ridiculously time consuming ...
Then when you aren't able to make your lines in a given pay period they have the temerity to feign a lack of understanding why.

Yes, IT IS time, I think, for you to move on and find something better. I don't know how you are compensated, but if they want to pay someone HOURLY to sit there and wade through that kind of confusion, then good on them; if not, and you're paid on production, then it's not at all worth it.

Every day work annoyances are one thing, but this kind of nonsense is quite another.
Escription time consuming
Is anyone else having an issue with the amount of time we must spend on technical issues with escription/editscript? It seems that just being highly trained in MT is not good enough anymore Now we must be format technicians and spend most of our time doing that and not getting paid.
MD IT recruiting methods are time consuming sm

I took a test that took an hour.  A recruiter contacted me to interview on the phone.  Another 35 minutes.  Then I was told that I would take another specialty test.  Then after that the people at a specific MD IT location would like to talk to me.  I spent one hour and 35 minutes.  I cannot see spending more time than that without being able to ask some dang questions like what the pay is... recruiter did not know, only that it was by the audio hour!!!???  No info about scheduling.

Are we so desperate that we will give a company 2 hours of our time without knowing what is in it for the slave?

This is crap!

They no longer hire part-time and may be eliminating part-time employees within the next 6 months.
They are going to have those that are PT go FT if possible. Some accounts require 1 weekend day, but not all. Most transcriptionists have 1 account with 1 back-up account. I know that they are hiring for hospital accounts in medical records and radiology right now.
I didn't care for Ascend's platform...very time consuming
and no paid training
No PTO for part-time. Not sure if you can work part-time or not since recent rule change. sm
You do pay a deposit for their equipment.
Futurenet require extensive, time consuming testing? I hate those you can't use foot pedal for.

I agree in part, if the test is difficult only due to the terminology, sm

but if it is difficult due to the quality of the sound or the fact that the dictator talks at the speed of light and/or has some ESL accent so thick and hard to decipher that no one can understand him/her, then I would pass as I would think that represents the type of dictation I would be transcribing on a daily basis.  Ironically, it is usually a company with that type of work that offers you 7 cpl and asks for MTs with tons of experience.   I have over 30 years of experience, and I just say no thanks.

Just my opinion ...... I feel lucky to have found what I consider to be a great full-time job as well as a great part-time job, but I have sure seen lots of crummy dictation while testing as well as laughable pay scales.

There is a part-time and a flexible part-time, just left there and they offered
me both. Flexible, however, is more or less when they need you (I.e. weekends), part-time is fixed hours.
Yes I know they hire part time because I referred someone there for part time.
They are internet based.
From what I understand, the part-time positions will be only be for those that are already part-time
It is not a restructuring of the company, just of some of the existing part-time positions.

I know that there are a few employees who have been with Keystrokes for many, many years who are part-time and they will not displaced.

Other than that, there have been many discussions why there will not be any new part-time employees hired, and I really don't think they will back down on that.
Yes - sounds like you are the one having the difficult time -......
must be you who got the axe! Maybe you should spend your time looking for another job and praying you get one.
MT schooling/training/internships...sm
Just checking into this for a friend of mine who is interested in pursuing education/employment in the MT field.  I know I have seen companies before that hire people to train them in this field with on-the-job training/paid internships.  I would like to direct her in the right direction with this BEFORE she pays for schooling somewhere else.  I know the good schools, but are there still actual companies that hire, train, and employ all together?  Any info appreciated.  TIA
I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time?  I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to.  If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info.  Thanks!
Not what I was told; 3500/wk part-time & 6000 wk/full-time. nm

Precyse Solutions is hiring part-time and full-time right now.
Saw this on their website.
i work 3 part-time jobs now. it can be confusing if you are learning both at the same time, but sm
other than that not a problem for me. best to get one down before starting to other or you might become overwhelmed.
MDI-MD: What are daily line requirements for full-time/part-time? Thanks! nm

I have one full-time job and 2 part-time jobs. It can be tricky at times, sm
but at least I now have plenty of work always. I have some big financial goals, and right now that seems to be the only way to accomplish it.  I can't see any reason why it would not be legal -- why would you say that?  I am cheating no one, except myself (out of sleep and a social life).  Fortunately, I am single with no children or anything.  I cannot imagine doing this if I had a family.  At least my dogige understands.
Full time/part time based on # hours or
# lines per pay period, nothing to do with quality. The lower the quality the higher the pay it seems.
Solution: Find another job, part time or full time.
Post your resume, hope for the best.
Depends on how flexible you need to be and if full-time or part-time
They are a little more flexible if you are part-time.  Not so much full-time, where you can be a little flexible within the day (not a strict 8-5), but if you are scheduled for Monday, you have to work Monday unless you request off, and if you are scheduled for a Holiday, you have to work the holiday, unless you request off.  They encourage you to clock out every time you are not typing to keep your lph rate up, which means an 8 hour day can turn into 12 hours at the computer.  If they run out of work (which they do quite often), you have to make the time up.  They are also leaning more towards Voice Recognition, so MTs are getting trained on that, but not sure what percent will go that way.  It does affect how much work you may get though in the other accounts.
They are advertising for full time HIM now, do they still hire part time? nm

OSi with part time health insurance and paid time off
OSi does offer health insurance and paid time off for part time.  Yes, there have been changes.  Yes, there will probably be more changes.  I don't see anywhere that hasn't had changes.  If they don't change they will be out of business the way the economy is these days, just like some other companies.  If they don't make money, then I don't make money.  So, what is so different with OSi compared to other companies?  I see complaints constantly about all companies.  I don't think it is the fault of the company that they outsource or use voice recognition.  It just is life on life's terms these days.  There is still enough work for us, at least for me.
Its holiday time. I just took a part time job at K-Mart and
it is really quite fun because I get to interact with humans and do not have to stare at a computer. My part time benefits included an employee discount on merchandise from day 1 of employment, can put that on lay-away, and if the item goes on sale before you pick it up, you get it at the sale price as well as with the discount. This is a Super K-Mart, and with kids this will really help with paying for their presents. It sure beats running out of work every day and wondering if I am going to have any money for gifts.
Question on MDI-MT full time vs. part time
Does anyone know how many lines per week or per pay period are required at MDI-MT to be considered full time?  Thanks.
Part-time MT getting full-time work ??????

TransTech should not be giving out work to PT people on their DAY OFF, or any other time BEFORE a full-time MT has enough work    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Full time is 40 hours, and yes they have part-time.
nm
TRUST me when I say...It is not worth your time, even part-time..

I hired on with them part-time on or about September 8, kept getting run around as to when I was to actually start transcribing. Team lead emailed to say she had a very very good account for me to start on.  I was trained 25 minutes. Then, there was an issue with my ID and password to get into the system.  After about 2 weeks, got ID and password, but it didn't work.  Then I get an email from another supervisor advising that I would be on another account and they seen the specs. So, I get an email some time around the first of October saying I can start typing.  In the meantime, Focus has a MT Forum, and I'm reading all these negative remarks from the MTs stating a lack of communication company wide, to the terrible QA department being not all on the same page, and being deducted points for blanks and such.  By this time, I was exhausted from waiting, and exhausted from hearing all the complaints from the MTs actually working there, that I sent an email to team lead saying, I had changed my mind about working there.  This is the most chaotic, disorganized, miscommunicated place I have ever seen in my entire 32 years of being an MT.   (If there are any errors in this forgive me.  Don't feel like proofing this)

Were you full time or part time?
I would like to get about 1500 lines a day in if possible - not possible? The pay seems good.
Not sure about part time but for full time you get SM
up to 12 hours to do a 7 hour shift. Webmedx requires 35 hours a week for full time, not 40.
Full Time vs. Part Time
Can anyone tell me how many minutes of dictation is considered to be full time?  I do clinic dictation and am wondering if I am actually doing part-time work or full time?
I have a full time and part time job also. nm
nm
Did you ever take into consideration
that I, probably along with many others, have to do a spell check on our work- we don’t have to do it here. My VR does a lot that straight typing does not, such as if you misspell a word sometimes like magic it knows and changes (I don’t have all the words in ShortHand that it changes) and also highlights or tells you when doing spell check you might have put a MI and it will ask you do you want an instead. Take that into view. We could not go through as fast as we can and not change mistakes. Here if words spelled wrong, oh well, told not to police spelling here anyway.
Either one, and would take any beneifts in consideration of pay.

Basically, the bottom line is I just need to make more money to cover the bills right now, so I would take either IC or employee status.  I realize that if they provide benefits, I would need to add that into the pay, such as insurance and PTO.  I currently pay $325/month for insurance for myself and 3 children on an individual policy since I currently am IC status. I find the problem with insurance is that usually group rates through an employer is usually higher than that on just the portion I would pay, so it really does not seem to help much if they provide insurance.  If I could find one that did, that would be awesome, but I think I might be dreaming here.

Thank you so much for trying to help me out.

Wouldnt you think they would have more consideration rather
than just throwing people on with no concern about running out of work.  I guess it is just easier to do that than worry about people working.  Nothing like making an a-- out of people.
Most people who sue, dont take into consideration
x
Thank you. I'll also take your info into consideration. nm

part-time IC is 5000/pay period and full time IC is 10,000 per pay period. Need to talk with
recruiter about cpl, I'm sure it varies with experience.
Looking for part-time
I am looking for a part-time or IC (part-time hours) transcription position with flexible hours.   If anyone can direct me to specific companies who may consider this, I would really appreciate your help.
looking for part time
Webmedx used to hire part time and they are looking for people. Also look up Amphion on the web. they are in Wisconsin. They have hired part time in the past, may still be looking - nice people, steady company.
Part time
Another point is when the hospitals outsource and MTs lose their jobs, this is another area where the MT loses! When we were outsourced a year ago, the hospital tried to really pat themselves on the back and, instead of just being honest and saying it was all about money, they tried to say they made their outsourcing choice based on how important it was that we get comparable benefits to what we had. Yeah right! In this area any part-time hospital employee gets PTO and even more importantly they are able to participate in insurance at a higher rate, but still a great deal compared to buying it privately. I always felt the benefits were the trade off for the so, so salary with the 3% cap on raises over the years.
Yes. I'm part-time, and I was able to
pick my shift. No nights or weekends unless requested, no C-phone, very rare downtime. Most importantly, the staff is available for questions, but otherwise leaves you alone to work. I have no ESLs in the account I'm on. No place is perfect, but they're definitely worth considering.
Part time
Part time is 3000 lines a wk, 6000 in a 2-wk pay period, minimum of 20 hours. I've not had problems being flexible but you do commit to set hours. Have had some sparce times lately but so has my other account elsewhere. I do agree you do not always get all your questions answered. They are worth a try. I've had my issues but will stick around for now.
part time
DSG hires part-time.
Part-time MT help
I am in need of occasional back up help for a clinic. This would be mostly on weekends or if anything happens unexpectedly. I am also hoping to go on vacation for a week in March and need someone who is extremely reliable and experienced to do the full week. It would only be about 3 hours of typing per day Monday through Thursday. You need to be very familiar with drug names. If you are interested at all send me your resume (does not have to be a formal resume) and names of some contact people. Thanks much!
