Certainly giving your employee ID limits your ability to talk freely on the TT board, so it is not used much; however, since many of you are probably transitioning out of MDI, it wouldn't prohibit open conversation too much.

Question about the TT Yahoo Group
I'm relatively new and did join the Yahoo group, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. What goes on; is it just posting Q&A's, is there a chat room, or how exactly does it work?
TT Haters, please don't bother to respond...I'm just asking for info on the Yahoo group. I have my own opinion of TT and don't want to hear your opinion if it's negative.

They usually hang out there on that Yahoo group board, but see that they are needed to cheer on this Company Board right now due to the uproar going on at TT.

CMT membership to non US MTs
The AAMT has always given out CMTs to anyone who is able to pass the exam, regardless of nationality. I am a Canadian MT who has been a CMT for several years and believe me, I did not take a dummied down version of the exam. I took the exact same exam as my US counterparts.

The American Medical Association allows foreign nationals who practice in this country to join their association and nobody thinks a thing of it. AAMT, does nothing different than any other association specific to a secular group and everyone goes nuts. With increased membership comes increased revenue and it does take money to run any association or business. Shoot, it takes money to run a home. I wish that more people would do something constructive toward morphing this industry into an environment that would see us all working toward a common goal (whatever the heck we choose it to be) than all this constant negativity and AAMT bashing. If you are not interested .. okay .. so be it .. but quit the bashing .. what's the gain?? It was never conceived to be a union or bargaining unit for wage negotiation .. if you don't like the offering .. you don't need to change the name to roll with change.

Thank you so much. I just finished 2½ hours in that other hospital and only typed 223 lines. I know when I'm in my regular hospitals it will get better and I will put out the money for IT. Someone before said I can combine my Smartype with it and if that's true, that'll be a big help. I'm also hoping the sound quality for my hospital will be better. It's pretty good in the Cottage. The DQS hospital I'm been typing is the pitts. Again, thank you for your help and your link. It is all greatly appreciated.

to your computer. You would have to play around to find it, but I know it's there because I can see all of my past msgs and they are time/date stamped.

and you will see the instructions to sign up. I believe you need to provide part of your employee number, and it will give you instructions on the things you cannot post, i.e., hospital names, compesation, etc.

Most of the positive posts about TT and VR are mgmt posts; they always do this, but you other cheerleaders/favorites, go to your new Yahoo Board and leave us along who don't want to work for LESS MONEY.
By the way, I have done VR with TT and HORRIBLE. I can't make even close to the money I can with normal transcription.
VR is more money in the pockets of TT execs. Not in the MT's wallets.

Not these days. Many MTs are also MTSOs, so I wouldn't count on PRIVACY wherever you intend to go with this. As both, I would be willing to share what I know with my colleagues if I felt it was to their benefit. Multiply me by many and there goes your site of shame. Good luck to you too! Hope you can CYA sufficiently to avoid problems for yourself. You should be nicer to these MTs. They help pay your salary. Maybe MTs should do away with recruiters? Too many middlemen drive up the price and the providers would benefit from the absence of all the middlemen in all areas that try to get a piece of the action in their practices. Maybe without you all it would benefit the greater good. Something to think about, eh?

My husband is trying to change careers so I went looking for a new MT job instead of being an IC since his new career takes 6 months for the insurance to kick in. We are going to check all our options but I believe we will go private instead of spending nearly $1000 a month on it
You can get a private policy for less than that and probably
better insurance too. At that price I don't think they are absorbing any of the cost, so it really isn't a benefit.

Why not just get a private policy? Unless you have
pre-existing conditions you can get your own policy that may be cheaper than what you can get through work and then you aren't tied to a company for insurance only and you don't have to worry about a lap in insurance if you change jobs.
