Well if I could do 500 lines per hour, I would be making 35.00 an hour. sm
nothing to sneeze at. More than fair for having a 2-year degree. Come on people, we are all acting like we expect 6-digit incomes! Whatev!
making about $4/hour there
on Escription. I'd RUN!
Well I was making over $25 an hour...
in December before I started on VR. As of my last paycheck, I'm making $20.43 an hour and WORKING MORE HOURS and HARDER!!! So, yes, my pay has gone down because of it. And it is VERY STRESSFUL editing report after report after report. I guess I'll always be an old-school transcriptionist. Yes, I have to go with the flow, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.
If you are only making $10 an hour,
I only make 7 cpl with 3 years' experience, but because I work on an easy clinic account with easy docs for the most part (only 2 ESLs) I make between $18-20 an hour. Much better than your $10 an hour.

I think we get too caught up in line rates sometimes. Even at 10 cpl you aren't going to make much if it is a difficult account and you can only average 100-125 lph. I had 2 jobs paying 9 cpl and I quit them both for my 7 cpl job because I make a lot more money hourly at this job. To me, what I average hourly is more important to me than some cpl.
I don't have any problem making at least 30 an hour
nm
I'd jump on it as I think I'm making $10 an hour after sm
I made $30 an hour last year. The pay keeps getting lower with this home based MT work. VR is going to nail the coffin in for me. I'd jump on that job if I were you. I'm dealing with 300 doctors right now and nobody to ask a question. Just me wanting to shoot myself.
Well, then, I've been making $4.50 an hour lately

I was already looking for work when the bomb dropped.  Obviously its not where I belong unless I want to work for free.

I made 50k last year at Webmedx and worked my fanny off to get it.  I know that will never, ever happen again at this company.  I don't even recognize my job any more.

$7/hour is pretty darn good, I was making
the MT inexperience, as the inexperienced is all they are able to hire. Seasoned MT's know better than to go there.
same way an employee making $8 an hour. Hold some back.

Making up time with WMX? (sm)

I have an E-mail into my STM but have not yet received a response.  When work is low and you need to Flex, does that mean you are supposed to pretty  much go in whenever there is work and nab some lines, even if this infringes on another person's schedule?

Also, if we don't get the lines/hours we need,  are we allowed to use PTO or do we get in trouble for not making our quotas?

Appreciate the info.

Making up time at TT question. (sm)

Is it like MQ that you can only make up lines on the weekend or some evenings and then have to have prior approval by your supervisor to do so?

Do I need to ask my supervisor this or is there a standard on making up lines when the work is lower?

Okay, guys, it decision-making time...

Yeah I know.  Bummer.  Decision making is not one of my favorite pastimes.

I got an offer from MDI-MD.  Very tempting.  Pros and cons, but overall company appears solid.  Liked the recruiter.  Lots of longevity in the company which was a plus.

Okay, here we go...Yea or Nay.  Presently an MQ'er.

Thanks.

Question re work/making up time/PT

For those who have run out of work, have you been required to make up the time during the same week or same pay period?  If you are PT, have you had to make up the time or is it optional?

Thanks.

Axolotl - anyone ever had a very hard time making ..... SM

the required line count per day?  I have been plenty long enough to be making the line count all the time, but for some reason, I have never quite gotten there - at least consistently.  Now, I am not the fastest MT anymore, but I have always been able to do more than a minimum such as 1200 lpd.  I like the company (not the accounts so much, though), but this has made me seriously doubt my ability to produce.  Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and then left and did better line-wise,,,,if so, where?  TIA.

Doing VR, working part time and making
at least $500 per week. That is for 4 day week.
I love putting my counts in, because I can see what I am making at any given time

The system will calculate your pay and it is really neat.  My last company just paid me from counts they obtained from the hospital and I had no way to check it.   It takes 3 minutes (or less) to enter the line counts and it has made a big difference to me.

Transcend is a great company, I have seen (and been with) a lot of bad ones.  I consider Time Trax to be an advantage over the rest.

How do you get paid now - do you trust your company to tell you your lines?

24-hour time frame
MDI-MD.  Lots of happy people there.  IC status.
I had a hard time making money. Nice people though! nm
nm
As below, they do to full time people making 900 dollars per pay period. nm
nm
Well as had been mentioned before MQ NE is looking for a 1 hour turnaround time so there is no way
any accounts will have work for the MTs and that is what they want to do. I think MQ is losing so many accounts they are trying to do these things to get more accounts plus I am sure cutting into the pay of MTs with their new pay plan when it comes out. With 1 hour turnaround time how can anyone get high production for any kind of incentive pay plan. No way in my book. You would be in a zillion accounts. Well, with MQ reputation and good MTs quitting, I hope this plan works for them.
24-hour time frame to do work
What are some companies out there who allow a 24-hour frame in which to return work, no set hours, but a minimum line count requirement within a specified time frame.  Thanks in advance.
Companies with 24-hour turnaround time

I know it has been has been posted here before, but I can't seem to find it. Is there a list of companies that have a 24-hour turnaround time for getting work back?

Also, a list of companies that use ExText or train on speech recognition? Thanks.

I am curious about the amount of money I am making at this time. I make around $700 every week and
I am wondering if this is average or if I am selling myself short as an IC.
Your puter should ask you Sun. morning about making the time change. Just follow the 'custom'
s
I love MDI-MD, and you have a 24-hour turnaround time to get your work done. sm

I'm not sure if they have clinic work, though, but they might.

Good luck in your search!

Anyone know of any companies that let you work within a 24 hour time window? sm

I am wondering if there are any companies that let you work anytime you want as long as you get your daily or weekly line count in?  Thanks....

I have many, many years experienced and was just told a little while back, even though I am an IC, that I have to have a set schedule...And I am struggling to follow the set schedule due to family illness....

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

MDI-MD has a 24-hour window, no time clock to punch
x
Webmedx 12 hour window question.. Do you have to time in and out? (sm)

Do you get to choose the 12 hour window hours?

Do you really mean they are that flexible.  Say you have to go to school and pick up a sick child, do you have to notify anyone you will be leaving your computer or can you just go and tend to business as long as you work your 8/12?

Sorry, that does seem to be more than 1 question.

MDI-MD hires part-time, and you have a 24-hour window to do your quota. nm
x
Yeah, it seemed strange to me so I didn't do it. Also, they had a 24-hour turnaround time for the
test, not unheard of but seemed strange nonetheless.  No free work from me today.
think, people! If she does 250 lines/hour, same docs daily, will make $15/hour
nm
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.

what's not to believe - I said that I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days AND DO NOT MAKE - sm
I DO NOT MAKE $100,000/YEAR

try READING the post.
Ok - here ya go. I went from making $1800 per pay period to making just under $900.
Is that significant enough for you? Believe us, we are not just being negative with a grudge or anything like that. This is real! A month later, I was gone from there fast!
$35/hour x five 10-hour days = $1,750 gross/week.

$20 an hour is not even average for radiology. You should not make less than $25-30 per hour. sm
I work for Keystrokes and have for 3 years. I average 25 reports an hour, which is $31.25 an hour. I have 401, health insurance, direct deposit, life insurance. My lead tells me I'm wonderful when I talk to her, but I do not need a daily pat on the back.

I also have a good friend who works for them on a clinic. She only makes 0.08 per line but does 300 lines an hour, which is $24 an hour, again higher than your $20.

I don't think we're selling ourselves short. There are companies out there that are good to work for, 6 or 8 of them that I know of personally. Don't settle for $20 an hour.
If that's $9.50 an hour, that would be just under 6.5 cpl at 150 lines an hour. nm
s
Are there any QAs out there that are getting paid by the hour at 15+/hour? If so, where are you and
how are the work conditions/requirements/benefits,etc?
For example, I count every hour on the hour with my job
and while I was posting here and also checking email in between I averaged $22 an hour for 2 hours, not bad for someone who is a) slow or b) does not have a lot of time in transcription work; therefore making me a prime candidate for VR.
they are making a lot of changes....
This is the first I heard of it also and I found out by logging on and all the sudden have all new work types. When I inquired as to why this happened and was told it was part of the "MQ compliance team" (whatever!). Later on that morning, I received an email stating that the first change made was to rank the MTs by classification: Level 1 - ER/clinic notes, Level 2 - ER, Clinic, Progress notes, H&Ps, DS, Consults, Cardiac notes, PT notes (everything except radiologys and OPs), Level 3 -everything including radiology and OPs.
how much are you making, cpl

what are you making, cpl. ect.

It is b/c OSi is making changes
Positive changes...and that scares the daylights out of everyone else.  Yes, they have made a few mistakes, but who hasn't?  I am with you here.  I never had a single problem with OSi until I came to this board and then I found out just how sucky my job really is.  So, why wasn't my job bad before?  It is a pitty that I had to come here to find out that OSi employs only the worst.  I make a lot of money and I don't leave my home.  I have a wonderful AC too and I love the people that I have actually gotten to talk to on a day-to-day basis.  What more could I ask for?
I'm currently making more than that, but have been
looking around, testing the waters.  I ace the tests, they call 2 and 3 times offering me different things, but never enough money.   I have even been offered 7 cpl as an IC.  My point was that experience doesn't necessarily count for anything these days as no one wants to pay you for it.
Where are you making $120 a day, can I ask?
That's pretty good.
I will be making 9.5 cpl
They offered me 9.5 cpl right off when I was hired last week for an ER account.
making fun?
saying - Having a laugh - is not making fun - it is a comment - not like are they kidding, could not get a coffee for that etc. They do not belong here.
but I am sure if you are concerned the moderator can give you the information so you can apply.
I was making ...
17.00 a hour.
She's making more
than I am right now at my company and I have 15 years of experience and she has about 8 or 9. From what I have heard, it's at the top of the pay scale for most companies out there and you get paid half of your typing rate for editing which is a lot more than I make editing. All I can say is 15 years in this business, they pay very well and that is why I'm applying for a job with them.
Are you saying you re making 0.075 MORE than before, or
they are giving you that which is more than you made before? 0.075 more a line is hard to believe.
I was making 16/hr when i was QA
