THOSE THAN CAN DO, THOSE THAT CAN'T, TEACH..SM

So those that can't cut it in Court Reporting go into medical transcription because MT standards are lower, but where a $45-$50,000 salary is the norm?  Where we're treated wonderfully, we're expected to be glued to our seats during out shift while we're not paid for that time, where often no work exists during that time and we are expected to make up our line quotas (of course, we owe these lines to the company on a pre-existing basis) on our own time later? Wonderful!  I could go on and on, but you probably wouldn't get it if you tried.

I don't know what field you're in besides teaching, but it's not medical transcription.

Wondering, does your college teach SM
expander use as part of its basic transcription course?
You are no longer in school, and the company isn't here to teach you.
I recruited for a large national and every once in a while an MT would bomb a test horribly and would challenge me about it. I was more than happy to send them the completely marked up copy, red-lined to death. One very experienced fellow wrote back and explained it all by saying I don't have time to be careful on these tests. My time is worth more than that. Oooookay, fella! You betcha!
half of us probably had mothers who didn't teach us anything....

Why don't you head up the team to teach QA to streamline...sm

the feedback they send back so that the MTs will make a note instead of ignoring it.  I understand it must be frustrating for you to have to correct the same mistakes over and over, but can you understand how frustrating it is for an MT to get 5 different feedback answers from 5 different QA people?  Being mean and nasty and saying the work should be offshored just cuts off your nose to spite your face, no work here for the MT, no QA for you.  I will agree with you on one thing, this job is a thankless job.  We as MTs will never be recognized for the hard work we do and the conditions we do it under, just get griped at by those who do not appreciate or understand what we do, nor will QA be thanked or appreciated by anyone except those MTs who know how bad a report has to be to sent to QA.  I'm curious, were you an MT before you started QA?

I transcribe FT and teach PT because I WANT to share my knowledge and experience with sm
others getting into this line of work. If you do not make $45,000 to $50,000 in transcription, you either are not very good or not very dedicated. It is easy and I do that in 6 hours a day with a 30-minute lunch.

Yep, 24 hrs for national, IC for 2 local clinics, also teach kickboxing and sales rep for a clothing
