We've had EMR for years now, are you still transcribing? Just because the news occasionally mentions that an electronic medical record will bring down health costs does not mean no one will have to work to CREATE such record. Yes, more doctor's offices will go the way of templates, but that's been inevitable for years. Hospitals will still need MTs and there will still be a need for MT editors. Forever and a day, MTs have been told to stay well rounded in knowledge and skill, because if you are- you will have a job. This hysteria over EMR is like yelling FIRE in a crowded movie theater-- pointless and doing very little but creating fear.
