Still notice a couple of companies offering sign on bonus. Does it make you wonder? sm

Are they just an extremely exclusive type company, wanting only the best and willing to pay for it or is there something wrong they have to bribe people to come to work for them?
I am not sure, but think I am curious enough to apply to check it out.

Is MQ the only company offering a sign-on bonus?

and offering a bonus. Doesn't make sense that there
isn't work for current MTs. Unfortunately there are lots of companies that overhire.
When it rains it pours. Second job offering bonus. FT job offering (sm)
has lots of work and offering opportunity to make up lines/hours from low work during the week. Feel guilty if I don't help main account, but greed motivates me.
D&L Services offering a great bonus program. Why not,

Anyone notice there seem to be less sign on bonuses out there? (sm)
I am assuming (and we all know what happens when we assume) that this is because so many of the MQ people are out looking to change jobs that the companies feel like they don't have to work so hard to attract people.
sign-on bonus
I received my sign-on bonus for Precyse and also for Diskriter. No problemo. BTW, Diskriter seems to get a lot of flack around here, but I really love it. Very nice people, good platform, fair line counting, QA helpful and not stifling. OT frequently if you want it, but not all the time. I'm made to feel like a valued team member. :)
radiology sign on bonus
Just recently saw Spheris ad for $500 sign on bonus for radiology. First time I have seen bonus offered for radiology. Am almost tempted, but have good accounts and steady work with current company. Any thoughts on this?
Spheris sign-on bonus
I wish that all transcriptionists would stop working for these transcription companies. I have been an MT for over 20 years, earn a great salary at a hospital and now I'm losing my job to a service who wants to pay me 8 cents per line. I refuse to give them my expertise for that crappy pay. There is nothing right about it. Also, you can bet that the sign on bonus will be made up somehow or another, probably with bad pay!
So if you are SE and switch to PT or FT, do you get the sign on bonus?
nm
Webmedx sign on bonus
When I worked for the above, they offered me a sign on bonus of $250.00, and then charged me $250.00 for the use of their equipment, so beware of the sign on bonuses.
Anyone switching from IC to FT for MQ - qualify for sign on bonus? (nm)

The reason for the ridiculous sign on bonus
Don't bother, you will regret it.
OSI's sign-on bonus is a bribe, U won't stay there

So, exactly how much are we talking regarding the sign-on bonus for Softscript?
I noticed the ad for SoftScript has changed, especially regarding needing to fill 100 positions rather than 120 called for last week. The biggest change is that the sign-on bonus is gone. I have applied, tested, and will be speaking to HR, and I will definitely mention the bonus, because it was there when I applied. I'm an ex-MQer, and I am stuck in a company without acute care work - I cannot tolerate any more rehab, rectal tubes, PEGs, shunts, catheters, and people who make it out alive transferring to nursing homes, etc. I CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE. I sure hope SoftScript is a good company. I have read archives - but not any details to sink my teeth into. I just wonder how much that bonus is.....
Heartland is advertising sign-on bonus. Aren't they for

Does TransHealth have a sign-on bonus? It seems like there are people recruiting for them on these
boards. Are they really that great to work for? I have heard mixed reports.
Nope. No sign-on bonus. Just a good company.
It's hard to find a good company.
Plus cutting MTs pay and rearranging bonus plan with 1-1/2 weeks notice (nm)

I gave a couple of days notice, just til September 1st...
The day the merger actually occurred. It was about 3-4 days' notice.
Companies offering IC
Does anyone know of any companies where you can still be an IC, and they take your taxes out? I loved being an IC, and would like to go back that way again.
I have seen companies offering 10 cpl on the job ads.
Focus for one pays 10 cpl (5 for editing) for employees if you work night shift.
No bonus here - I make my own bonus sm
by working more and having a big fat paycheck!
I have learned, in life, not to expect so as to not be let down or disappointed. I apply that reasoning to all aspects of life, including my career.
Although I agree that sometimes it is nice to have others think of you with a gift or bonus, in reality, it is not the norm working as an IC.
Christmas has become so materialized and commercialized, it really is sad for those who don't have as much as others to feel such a financial stress and burden to buy or give gifts.
So, I say make your own bonus and work a little more, get some extra lines in, and that would be your bonus!
Happy Holidays to All!
Any suggestions on companies offering--
part-time or full-time 3rd shift radiology positions?
there are too many who don't make you sign.
I have 3 jobs and need them to feed my family. That's life. Don't do it.
No. The paper they make you sign
says $125 (I guess to reimburse them for sending it to you in the first place) and for returning it.
Any companies offering benefits on 35 hrs per week or less except Webmedex? Nm
Any companies offering just plain Word and upload to FTP?

Well, sign me up.. I want a job where I make half until I am up to the Wicked Witch's standards
Geez.. what are they trying to say, you'll get a raise when what freezes over. They have got to be kidding and boy for all that money you wont be earning you'll need to go out and buy some equipment for almost $200, which will probably take you a few months to pay off at the rate they want to pay. What a joke.. Give me a break. Thanks for sharing that great job opportunity haha

Sign on bonuses - do most companies pay these out pretty well or (sm)
do you find you have to call and keep bugging them to get it paid out?
Couple of posts above it was 4 new accounts, now it's 20? Make up your
mind!
Make your own nest. Find a couple of good
accounts, multiple companies if you have to. Work on them every day just to stay on top of it. I used to bend over backwards to try to help where needed, but all I ever got was kicked in the head, so now I just do my routine. When they start appreciating people, (and not just an occasional 'oh how wonderful you are' when they are backlogged and know you can do a lot of work), by some type of recognition like a raise or promotion, then you can go back to being the nice guy.
Ever notice how small & medium-sized MT companies - sm
are going the way of the dodo (and family farms), only to be replaced by huge, corporate McTranscription companies? The Wal-Martization of medical transcription is a step backwards for discreet, high-quality medical records.

Thoughts on a couple companies?
I'm very new to this (just grad in Jan) and have a couple of offers I'm looking at. Any insight any of you could offer would be appreciated.
I've been offered an internship with Meditec that should lead to a position with Accustat-Carolinas, but it won't start for probably another month. I don't have any details yet on the actual position, just the internship & what's on the Accustat website. The other offer is IC with Accuscribe in Goose Creek, SC and is for either 2nd or 3rd shift and could be either full- or part-time. (I'm looking for 1st shift full-time.)
Thinking of taking the Accuscribe 2nd shift part-time and continuing to look and/or waiting on the Accustat position. Advice?
I don't need to make tons of money doing this, but I do have certain family obligations I need to meet, to the tune of about $600/month with anything over that being gravy. I am most interested in getting started with a reputable company that will give me some good experience.
I'm a biochemist, and have worked for a medical reference lab for the last several years as a cust serv rep for several clients. The med-speak is second nature to me, but I'm not the fastest typist in the world. I'm notorious for being a perfectionist and have always been the go-to-gal for my clients. This career change is to allow me more time with my family, and to be more flexible, as my husband's career moves us around quite a bit (4 states in 10 yrs).
Being privy to the P&Ls of a couple of companies, it's not bullhonky.
If you were running an MTSO and/or answering to venture capitalists, you'd be shopping the "past expiration date" meat section for your daily protein allowance. Try it, you probably won't like it.
I asked about these 2 companies a couple of weeks ago, just not
about rad, and I was told to go with Keystrokes. Both companies seem to have 90+% positive comments, though I have seen more with rad about KS.
I am curious as to what companies give at Christmas. Has anyone gotten a bonus/gift from their
company?
Notice is a courtesy, not a rule and they don't give you notice when they fire you
Giving a 2-week notice is common courtesy, and in most all my jobs, I have given them that courtesy; however, a company never gives someone notice when they are firing them. In my opinion, if a company does not treat their employees right, they do not deserve to get any notice at all.
As a matter of fact, I just left a company without notice. I felt horrible about doing it to my team but not to the company. While they never messed up on my pay, I was under constant stress. They treated several other people horribly and also changed all the terms of my employment contract within months of hiring me, which was going to cost me $800 a paycheck. I am the major breadwinner for a family of five and couldn't hang around a second longer losing that kind of money.
The only reason you would not want to quit without notice is if you want to use them as a reference and/or want the chance to go back to them in the future. I was advised by a recruiter that you should never put anything on your resume that is less than a year, so you really don't want to use them as a reference anyway, and you certainly don't want to go back to them.
Messing with someone's money is a big NO-NO, especially when they are costing you $400 for a second time. Heck no, I wouldn't give these people notice. There are some great companies out there hiring right now.
Feel free to contact me by email if you would like some more detailed information about the companies I narrowed my search down to. I was very sceptical about trusting another company with the bad luck I've had (just as you have) in the last few years, but I think I finally found somewhere I can be happy at for a long, long time (of course only time will tell, but I'm feeling very optimistic).
:) Best of luck to you!
Christmas Bonus survey...Has anyone received a bonus yet this year or expect one?
We usually get one but haven't see it yet. Just curious if anyone has been so lucky as to get one.
i wouldn't sign it, but cross that out and sign

Are there any companies that don't make you
work from a pool, but allow you to download or send you so many minutes or files per day from a particular clinic or hospital dictator(s). I just want to do my jobs and be done when they run out. I don't want to have to wait around for more dictation or have dictation from unknowns put in my queue to fill up my shift. Do such places exist?
Which companies don't make you punch a
I'm currently an IC and hate the thought of clocking in and out for a measly potty break.
oops, make that which companies? nm

Too many companies invested money in VR, and they are going to make
sure they can use it, no matter what. So even if it can only type if, and and the correctly, it will be put into VR and the poor MT that has to straighten that garbage out will be paid a big fat amount of around 4 cpl. These companies are the greediest bunch I have ever seen. None of them are worth the ground they sit on.
There are companies that manage to make it work. OTI, for example. nm

Any companies who DON'T make you do voice recognition?
I can't stand VR and am looking for a new job where it is just straight typing like it should be - anybody work for companies who are not jumping on this wagon?
What companies don't make you follow exact schedule?
Looking for a company that allows some flexibility on what time I type each day instead of a strict schedule that I set up. This is just to deal with occasional appointments or if the kids have a class play I want to see, etc. Most days a schedule would be fine but I also don't want to be stuck with it!
The company I used to be with was like this but they now require schedules to be followed. I see the point in that but I also know that some exist with more flexibiity!
Any ideas?
Thanks!
