MDI has historically been the gold standard of companies. Its owners are honest and ethical. The company does seem to have been going through some changes in the past three or four months, such that many people are without enough work a good part of the time. I would not be able to support myself or my family on MDI alone, based on lack of available work. This is not to say that that will not change. People say that it will. But I surely would not get myself in a debt situation that depended on it. That is why I finally did not go with MDI full-time. I have a family to support and the workload is just too unpredictable. That does not take away from the wonderfulness of the people who own and run the company; it merely faces the fact that I need to bring in X dollars each month for us to survive and I would like more of a sure thing. (What would I do if there exceptionally low work one month?) If you are more risk tolerant than I am, you might try your plan, but IMHO, you really need a plan B in place in the event that the works continues to be so low you cannot make your lines. Remember, you have to look out for yourself and your family first. No one else is going to.
