Precyse does, too, if speed is 37K or faster. nm

They claim "it is so much faster than Spheris".

spheris has dial-up

Spheris--anyone been hired lately who has dial-up?
Does Spheris require any minimum hours for part-time? Any probs when you have dial-up, do you spend a lot of time downloading files? What about really short reports?
Spheris or Medquist used Dial-up
Those are about the only companies I know that use dial-up unless things have changed. Good luck!
Would never use dial-up with Spheris. It will be too slow,
eek a mouse!
Precyse, SoftScript
ESL - English second language is an understatement at some of these companies and you know these companies are making a killing off these ESL groups. I have had a supervisor tell me we take what the ESLs do and turn it into gold. Are you frickin kidding me. I say garbage in garbage out and for these companies to expect an MT to accomplish a 98.5 behind this trash, is nothing short of shear unadulterated BS; furthermore, for a supervisor to tell an MT (at 9 cpl) that's why you are making the big bucks is enough to leave one speechless. These companies probably are making lots of money off these ESLs and could afford to be paying at least 12-14 cpl for what we as MTs have to accomplish in filling in holes that takes sometimes an hour or longer. Do you think a crystal ball might help?
You would think my years of experience would make it easier for me, but instead transcription has gotten increasingly more difficult and getting a 98% let alone a 98.5% on these guys is just a joke. ARE YOU FEELING ME? SHOUT IT OUT~
to Ricdicolas re Softscript - Precyse
Just curious if you are working anywhere? You have nothing positive to say about any company. ..... ?
Anyone go from Spheris to Softscript?
@ddddddddd
Spheris to Softscript
I just recently made the transition from Spheris to Softscript. I had been at Spheris for 9 years and same thing was happening there as is happening at MQ. No work available. I am a QA person but I love SoftScript. I have been with them since last August (parttime) then in February quit Spheris and went fulltime with them. I had to give up a day shift with 3 weeks paid vacation but was using all my PTO to fill in gaps for out of work at Spheris anyway. I am not regretting it...I like SoftScript...they are like Spheris used to be when it was Edix. I also have a great supervisor. When I email her with a question she calls me right then. Good luck to you........
MDI-Fl, Precyse, TransHealth, Spheris MTs...

OSI/Deventure/Precyse/Spheris
Sorry--a bunch of very specific questions here that the companies don't seem to address, at least not right off the bat, and for which I couldn't find answers on the board here.
OSI: Do they offer incentives? Also, in an old post, an MT wrote here that whenever she had a high hourly line average, OSi would change the account. Is this still true? If you get hold of a really awful dictator, can you change?
Deventure: They're contemplating hiring me at level 1. Is there any way to eventually change to level 2, which makes more money--can you learn whatever you need to with them to do this? Do they give bonuses/raises? Do they contribute to 401K? Would I need to buy any equipment? What do they pay you when you're training? Is there a lot of work? Do you get any kind of flexibility in schedule? Do they offer shift differentials?
Spheris: Big question: Are they still as bad as the old posts on this board make 'em out to be? Do they contribute to 401K? Have they moved to voice recognition yet or do they plan to? Can you get as much work as you want (I'd like to work as much as possible), or do they still strictly require you to work only 8 hours a day? Are they still offering you one pay rate and then changing it on you? If you get an impossible dictator, can you change?
Any specific answers (not just ___ sucks!) would be very, very helpful. Thanks, y'all!
What companies allow dial-up? or C-phones and dial-up?
I do not have (and can't get) cable or high speed internet. Satellite is available but way too expensive to get if you are not working! I just wanna get a job....
more cpl? or same but faster?
.
Not really faster....
I have worked on ChartMatrix with the M-modal software and you have to insert these special headings to do this...you press Ctrl + N and then type the heading or pick it from a list and then hit shift to get out of the heading and then start typing again. You also have to do this for each subheading (like for the PE) and to create numbered lists. Much slower than using my Expander and typing a few Keystrokes to get my heading and have it formatted per my account specs instantly. Numbered lists might be considered faster by some, but I already use an AHK script that automatically numbers lists for me. I just don't see where it will be any faster to justify the cut in our line rate.
That is low. I transcribe faster than that.
cc
They'd pay even faster if threatened with
you calling their clients. I doubt very seriously the client wants to be called to court as a witness of work done under your name.
And have you noticed how much faster sm
you need to set the voiceplayer in VR to get the same amount of lines that you got before that upgrade? Unbelievable. Mine is now 50% as opposed to 30%. I barely have time to pee now.
I can transcribe faster than edit
I don't know which VR you are using but the ones I know of and have used require tedious work. I can transcribe faster than I can edit and it puts less stress on me. Maybe it is my experience of 30 years that is the reason and maybe others don't have that much experience but I have seen the end result of those with less experience and it is still a mess when they finish editing because they don't know any difference. Or perhaps you have a vested interest in making VR look good. Not accusing just pondering.
Okay - we are running low on work now, if we get faster like they think (sm)
will occur with this new improvement, what the heck. We will just run out of work faster seems to me.
I know they anticipate more work coming in, but.... so far that hasn't benefited us much. We have lost about as much as has come in.
I fear even less work at a reduced rate.
One thing I question, doesn't everybody do ISR now? Sounded like some of the posts insinuated they were going to be forced to START doing it.
Faster, easier, and more reliable than Autocorrect.

Takes away my incentive to type faster
Want to work fulltime for benefits, so that requires 8 hour shift, where as previously it was just based on line count in the past, so if one had the ability to type fast and accurate you could get your line count in, in maybe say 6 hours or so and then be done with your shift for the day, thus having a greater incentive to work more efficiently. Now have to sit there 8 hours to make sure I get benefits. I find I tend to type slower, why push myself, etc. (mental thing). I log in first thing, etc. so I don't miss any minutes, etc. I find that I spend at least 30 minutes per day downloading, checking/responding to work e-mails, etc, (not to mention having any type of problems with the computer or logging in like I did this morning, took almost half an hour just to get up and running) and feel that this should also be included in work time as it would be if I was in an office transcribing, etc. Basically, when my foot hits the door to my office, I consider myself at work. Even with logging in first thing, I'm still missing minutes here and there, which add up over the weeks time period. I understand how this program can help the company out with work flow issues etc, but feel that the real purpose in the end is to just monitor the MT, which is why it will eventually be tied to payroll automatically. If you don't get those hours in, even with more than adequate line count, well then we are back to part-time with no benefits, thus saving the company $$$ in the long run. What's your opinion?
Supposedly, editing would be faster than straight typing
and the VR would be ONLY for those doing editing. Not everyone will be doing editing (at Transcend).
Forgive the typos above, I was thinking faster than I was typing...
That's what happens when you drink too much coffee.LOL
I have no real headaches. Sometimes they want a faster turnaround time...
or they want things a certain way, but no biggie..I'd be willing to deal with that for up to 5 cpl than what MTSOs want to pay.
I do over 10K a pay period. The point is this only hurts the faster people.
And that's not you. I came here from MQ and these folks are moving in that same direction. You have a lovely Easter too.
I love working on Meditech. I find it faster than other programs. It really does sm
depend on the account, the version, your connection, etc. There is not a lot of donated time in my opinion. I type upwards of 3000 lines per day (65 character count, not gross) and only work 8 hours. The spellcheck is medical on the account I am on. I use my Expanders for everything. Most of us on the account I am on do over 1500 lines a day, so maybe different accounts are set up different at the actual hospital. I have never lost a report in the middle, although I read that a lot here. I have been working on it for over 3 years.
ps: Please excuse typos! "Hands-working-faster-than-brain syndrome!" haha (nm)

PT with dial up
I work for Transolutions, and the do use dial-up and I believe they do PT also. I am FT, so I am not sure about PT. Also, Spheris also uses dial-up and has PT and also supplies all the equipment you need.
Don't know about dial-up
They do pay for spaces, and pay a higher rate than anyone else I'v encountered. They employ all ICs only - but make sure to keep after them. I've accepted a position, have filled out my paperwork but now am getting nervous because I can't get anyone to call me back or respond to my e-mails.
I don't know about dial-up. (sm)
I kind of think you'd need DSL. If you can get it, it'd probably be worth it. You're working real-time online like with lots of other companies. It'll help your production.
Spaces - I think so, but I'm not sure.
IC only.
I believe they still are on dial up sm
Last I knew they paid for your second phone line.
Dial-up
DRC, Transolutions, and Spheris. I don't know if I would recommend working in Spheris' system with dialup though - that's the main reason I quit there.
Dial-up
Medquist allows dial-up as I worked for them and used dialup before. I believe also Precyse Solutions also allows dial-up.
Dial-up
Yes, Precyse does allow dial-up.
Dial up
I do not have access to high speed internet. I am looking for part time work that can be done on dial up. I have 15 years experience and am home based for our local hospital. Does anyone have any suggestions on companies that still use dial up, and hire part time? Thanks in advance.
Dial up
Might also want to try FutureNet or QT Medical as they offer dial-up options as well.
Dial up
A new job was just posted on the job seekers board under Cardiology-Kelly. Drop a resume with a note that you're strictly dial up. I posted this job, and we can use dial-up or high speed.
Dial-up?-sm
Does anyone still work using a dial-up connection? We are facing a move in a couple of weeks and it has come to my attention that I may not be able to get high-speed in our new home. My only options may be dial-up or satellite through Wild Blue. Are their companies out there that are still using dial-up? I really love the company I am working for as an employee right now but I would go back to IC if I had to. Thanks for your help!
dial-up
I have used dial-up and also used internet for MDI-Florida.
Very good company. Pay 10 cpl for Meditech experience.
If you are on dial-up with TT...
and willing to answer a couple of questions, could you e-mail me?? thanks!
dial up
I also would be interested in finding out any companies that allow dial-up. Thanks!
Dial-Up and VR
You really need something high speed to work with the VR.
KS and dial-up
If you have DSL or cable, you'll be okay at KS. If you only have access to dial-up, they have almost no accounts. I know most people have DSL/cable, but there are still a few of us that can't get it. I've been with KS for about 6 months and will now have to look for another job because of this.
dial-up only
I was just hired by KS in December and was told that dial-up would be okay.
I do not think dial up
or satellite can be used.
Are there any companies out there that still use dial up?
I only have dial up and there are no plans to add DSL in the area that I live in for at least another year possibly two. Satellite is out of the question due to too many trees around. I live in the woods and believe me its hard to get a clear view on the satellite dish we have now.
If anyone knows of a company that still uses dial up please let me know.
Thanks
any companies that use dial-up?
Are there any companies that you can still use dial-up on? There is NO high-speed in my area. I also would like to find a foot pedal that I can rent, or buy realy cheap. PLEASE reply.
Did you find somewhere better with dial-up?
It's getting harder to find places who will work with dialup or else it's so slow you can't make it worthwhile.
I have dial up, you download? how
Where are you downloading from and to where, hardrive. I would like to do this also, as I don't have to can get DSL . Can reply here or email.
