Sounds like my situation, same scenario, first monday, then wednesday, now???

In Reply to: Work-line count-PAY - TO have or not TO HAVE
I would quit with no notice. I have begged and pleaded with the company and I cannot continue to go unpaid. I have bills to pay and a family to support. It is unfair and unjust. Just my 2 cents.

Since this is Wednesday and they were supposed to call Monday (sm)
I would give them a call. That happened to me when I started over a year ago. They were supposed to call on a certain day and they didn't. I waited a couple days, called them and they said they would get back to me that afternoon and they did.
Sounds like my situation. And add to the the
fact that the QA'ers dont seem to be able to agree on anything, and the account specs change DAILY. I've gotten to the point where I pretty much ignore 80% of what the emails say, and just try to get my lines in the best I can, and let THEM sort out what is and isn't 'correct' or 'account specific'. They don't pay me enough to deal with all that crap.
Hi! Sorry for your job situation. Sounds like the
slinking back to MQ as well. You know what they say about the enemy you know versus the one you don't. Just to try to save you heartache, I know that lack of work has been a recurrent problem with KS just based on these forums. I have no personal experience with them, but I know many post on here that this happens all too often. Things have been quiet in that regard for a few months, so either the situation straightened itself out or the KS MTs have been warned sufficiently against whining posts. Could be either scenario, but at least I wanted you to know that it has been a common problem in the past with KS. Best of luck to you wherever you land. This is a far too common problem for so many of us and it stinks. Its so pathetic when you can't afford to change and try a new job, but you can't afford to stay with the one you're with either. Really stinks.
Wow it sounds like a great situation
If you could make it through to the first check or if you have, if you can, I suggest that you put half of each check in checking and the other half in savings. Then, pay yourself biweekly. Be strict on yourself no advances because then in your mind you will think you have suddenly gotten a great windfall, only to find in 2 weeks you are not paid again. Sounds like you have a great situation this MT certainly would love it... but like you, this MT would have to be very strict after making it through a long month with no check, and then only taking half of that to put away in savings. Good luck on the project to do this. But in a way, it evens out and if you can learn to do it, you will be happy, your production will go up and maybe you will end up a paycheck or money ahead of the game so you can give yourself a raise! :)
Sounds like a win-win situation! Good Luck!

Got one of mine on Wednesday. nm

I start Wednesday and I can't wait. sm
Nervous about it but in a good way, a positive way. Sure hope this national is not like the one I am at now.
No - I had worked Saturday through Wednesday
took Thursday/Friday off and tried to get back onto system Saturday and found myself totally locked out. I know there is a way to take your ID from the work queues and just give you access to your lines and completed work so this was totally unnecessary in my view. I seriously doubt it is legal to withhold that information from an MT.
Me too, but I had just accepted a job with TransTech Wednesday. Too funny!
LOL
Is this scenario out there somewhere?
I know this is a tall order, but are there any MT jobs like any of these scenarios:
Mon through Friday?
Tuesday through Saturday, with Saturday being only 4 hours?
Tuesday through Friday?
Being able to take 2 weeks vacation per year with any of these above scenarios?
Decent pay per line? (more than 7.5 cpl)
I need to start looking again, but don't know where to start.
Thanks to all of you!
I think it is a little bit the first scenario and
I left a few months ago and there was a major exodus of people who had worked there for years, myself included. We had weathered the changes there over the years, but the recent ones were too costly. It's great when you first start there, but the honeymoon doesn't last long at all anymore. At least it used to last a couple years, but those days at Transcend are long gone.
Okay, Here is the scenario...sm
What is your first thought when a physician all of a sudden spells out words that every Transcriptionist should know, when they have never spelled them out before. And when you receive a general e-mail stating what mistakes they have been finding, yet you KNOW you have not been making those errors.
Yet when you are hired, your cpl is based on the number of lines you can commit to and not the quality of work you produce.
Yes, you are a statutory employee.
Regarding having a backup account: Lets say that you have met your line count for the day, and you want/need to work extra. Are you going to stick with your primary? Or go to your secondary account to get those extra lines? Everyone knows that when you type on your secondary account, you lose money because you are not as proficient with that account. It just really irks me that when you are in a pool with other people, and the company asks for the number of lines you will do in a day, then someone goes over that count by 100%, do they not realize they are taking away from someone else's line count? There is a reason they ask for the number of lines you can do in a day - so they can hire the appropriate amount of people to cover those lines.
I got laid off too,. same scenario. sm
There were several of us that got the ax with no warning.
That very scenario played out for me last month.
Transcription Express was hiring ICs, but expected me to work every evening after 6pm and every weekend, both days. They said that the owner might agree to giving me Sunday off, but nothing else. Not exactly an IC position!!!
I think Transcription Express is hiring again. So, any of you who enjoy being called ICs but treated as employees, there's an opportunity for you.
I hope the IRS has Transcription Express on their list of companies to audit.
Yeah, the layoff scenario went thru my head, as well, especially (sm)
since I hear this co. has a branch in India.
So then, the waiting period for the first job would not count in that scenario.
But the next insurance would cover if there was no break if employee stayed at old company, kept that insurance and then had no lapse in insurance when going to the next job. Is that correct?
Scenario: No work. Docs not dictating. You are an employee. What does that do to your
If you are doing no work, well, any formula to extrapolate your "down" rate of pay is still going to equal zip.
And if you go on vacation? what does that do to your "down" rate of pay? If you have no sick leave and you can't type, what does that do to you "down" rate of pay?
If you have no PTO yet and you are down for weather, computer problems, etc. if you are an employee, are you kicked to SE? What happens to your insurance?
These are all questions you need to get hard answers to and get answers that are palatable. And get them in writing.
Every other Monday.

Believe it or not, Monday it will be there!

That's okay! LOL it *is* Monday!
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I didn't have a choice in quitting my other job, work was just gone, so that's just added to the stress. I considered looking for another PT position to tide me over, but then Murphy's Law might dictate I had waaay too much to do and/or get confused with two sets of rules and platforms. I might have to, though, if I can't get work soon.
sure sounds swell. Sounds like 2350 ln/day @ 4 cents/ln=$90./day
in order to figure how many line needs to be produced to make $500 per pay period. ie, how many lines an hour needed per 8 hour day --at your rate.
So say $450 a week would be $90 a day.
For example, if making 4 cents a line, need 2,250 lines a day, 281 an HOUR (to listen through and edit) to make this great wage of $90. a day FOR ALL THIS SAME SKILL, TO KEEP UPDATED WITH CHANGING MEDICAL COMMUNITY. nope Better at Jack-in-Box Pass it up.
I startnew job Monday.
Today, I still do not have any work. My CSC center said sent a bulk email for MTs out of work to call the office and other centers will have work. WELL!!! that is enough for me and I have accepted my new job and start Monday.
Well, I am an Ex-Transcender as of Monday. sm
I was disillusioned as you. I am an acute care MT with 20+ years of experience and it just was not for me. Although, I have to tell you that the production management team were awesome to work with up front; however, I didn't like the behind the scenes action like changing my worktypes without telling me, as well as consistently running out of acute care work.
For example, if you work primarily on er reports and the discharge summaries are behind, they will just take the er dictations out of your queue and you will discharge summaries for a week straight, and they don't even bother to tell you, hey the ds are backed up and we put some in your queue. There is nothing wrong with keeping the account in TAT, but give us, the MTs, the respect of telling us.
Also, the ES accounts are a total rip-off. Taking 20 and 30% off the line count is a totally stealing from us MTs. Personally, I had a huge problem with it once I saw that it amounted to $500 out of one paycheck. That really sucked bigtime!
Let me ask you - if you are an acute care MT and was given boring clinic work or doctor letters to do all day every day, would you be happy when you were hired for "basic 4 acute care work".
These are just a few major reasons why I am gone.
Good luck to those who have stayed and I hope you are happy. To each his/her own!
If you started on Monday you are probably still on
full QA and that would explain the reason for low workload. I have been with them for 7 years so I can attest to their integrity and consistency. However, please feel free to e-mail and let me know what account you are working, as I know one account asks you to assign how many minutes you want per day and the other is an open pool, as I would prefer not to discuss specific accounts in an open forum.
My my new days is now Monday, so
I was off yesterday. It's not a bad day to have off since work is so often low on Mondays. And now my start time isn't until 11:00 on Tuesday, so hopefully it will have built up now that it's time to work.
Wow - that was weird. Let me know if you can read this note. I kept typing all the words right the first time, as if I had a stroke or something! Hope not!

Interview Monday sm
Would be interested in hearing what their expectations, platform, etc. are if you would be willing to share. My biggest question, obviously, is pay as I do not want to take a cut in this..but that is something I will find out Monday. Just curious about general info on the company. When did you interview? The recruiter said my e-mails were bouncing back to him undeliverable so maybe it is on their end??
Not yet but hopefully soon. Wonder if anyone we will hear anything before Monday when the new HR
person starts.
Sunday and Monday
I'm not on the schedule with any of them on Sunday, Monday I only work for one of them. I took the third job because it's a specialty I like and want to do more of. I'm trying to decide which direction to go in - certainly don't want to work this much indefinitely.
Sorry, Monday morning
I could not find any posts on this company.
March 17, then every other Monday after that
.
I would say Monday should be the telling SM
day. If there is no pay and no indication of when you'll be paid, I'd get out of there FAST and also post the name of the company. They've had plenty of time to correct their supposed **error*** cough...with the payroll company.
no work for a Monday--- never
happens where I work! I was wanting to have Sundays and Mondays off, but we have a lot of work leftover from the weekend!
Monday-Friday
I wish that people who get into this profession would understand that hospitals operate 24/7/365. My daughter is a registered nurse and does not demand a m-F schedule and YES she does have children. You got into this profession because of having kids at home and wanting to be a stay at home mommy. Well, 30 years of experience under my belt and most of the companies that I have spoken with allow me to work the hours that I want to work because of the fact that in general, I put in 12 hour days and even work weekends and dont take a day off unless I need to, due to illness or whatever and also, due to the fact that if I do have an emergency, I let someone know in advance and just not refuse to work
I have an interview Monday, 700/day sm
I'm not really thrilled about having to work a weekend day, but I need to supplement my FT job.
Payday is Monday and that is when I sm
anticipate being paid. My check is always there on Monday, never sooner. You are lucky your bank floats it sooner. Most banks don't.
Monday was very slow because of it
being the end of the pay period. Yesterday and today only out of work about 15 minutes.
You may want to call and ask them directly on Monday...
but I believe it depends on the way you were hired. If you are an hourly employee, your PTO would be paid at that rate. If you are production based, your PTO rate is paid at your average production over a period of three months. You must maintain a minimum line count though. Rochelle would know better.
Thanks...I start training on Monday. :) NM

Thanks! They are calling me to talk to me on Monday! SM
I'm very excited! I'm looking to move from Keystrokes to MDI, or at least drop down to part-time at Keystrokes and be full-time with MDI since they seem so great, and the recruiter was very, very nice! What type of platform do they use? Do you have to submit a time sheet at the end of the pay period?
I start w/ Keystrokes Monday after
7 1/2 years with MQ, and am way excited to have ONE account, to be no longer drowning in the cesspool!! Anyone thinking about MQ, better keep thinking. Better yet, start RUNNING the other way, fast.
The intranet will be down until Monday morning. sm
The upgrade pulled the system down but it will be back up by Monday morning.

Monday-Friday, First Shift?
Does anyone know of companies that have accounts with Monday to Friday, first shift positions? Personal obligations do not allow me to work weekends or evenings and so many companies want this. If I could do it I would, but it is not possible, and they all seem to want weekends and second or third shifts. I really need to find something. Any help greatly appreciated.
