i.e., with STRAIGHT typing and not being able to make lines/minimum wage... I'm sure there must be something to it. All these MTs can't be making it up!
Since anything even remotely resembling English has gone the way of ($$$ for MTSOs) VR ... all that seems to be left is transcription that is rejected by VR ... all that's left for the dedicated, experienced MTs is GARBAGE ... it's not the LACK OF WORK ... it's the TYPE OF WORK the straight typing MTs are reduced to. So, off your high horse and start doing 8 hours' worth of this crap (actual 14-16 hours required) to get FT lines in .. and then tell us we're not cutting it!

I know from personal experience. The newbie gets in to work for a service and gets put in the FIFO pool and then complains all the time that there are too many dictators and they cannot understand them, or they do not know that speciality, yet they begged to get hired and promised they would do anything to gain experience, yet they cannot do the actual work.

 You are exactly right. My favorite I found to be true is..misery loves company. I also believe in the Laws of Attraction,,, if you're miserable, you attract misery. If your happy... you attract happiness as more people like to be around you and everyone puts everyone is a better mood.

whining and griping and complaining about the same old same old!!! That's why! And if it agitates YOU to think about finding another flippin' job, then so what! I really don't care! I say, if your job stresses you out this much, it is very easy to look elsewhere. There are only TONS and TONS of other places to work, so...find another J-O-B! Simple as that! Ya know what, I am not here daily but I seem to see some of the same theme over and over and then to take heed. I know people stretch, etc, but I believe it, yes, I do.(one that got me recently was PAYPAL and having to pay $10 for a check that is $240 to get paid, (20 a month)

there is seemingly disenchantment in the postings? I will not try VR again, so just wanted to know. I will never EVER work for that kind of money EVER. This is a highly skilled and technical, knowledgable based profession. PERIOD and ever changing info to keep up with.

I Sooo Agree...some HR Recruiters/companies
do not realize how much a waste of time it is for them and the potential employee/IC to go on with an endless hiring process of repeating application questions, testing, etc...possibly only to find out that they do not pay enough, or some other major item that is not unacceptable to one of the parties. I have had some time-waster interviews, and I do not like to feel I've wasted my time any more than the recruiter does.

I am SOOO sick and tired of BEGGING for work!
Anyone know of a company that is hiring ICs, flexible scheduling, multispecialty clinic, at least 8 cents a line (shows my desperation...!), steady, dependable work flow for the most part, a company where you can stay and work for at least a few years straight. Any out there? Do not want MDI-MD. Do not want to be an employee - want to be an IC. Do not want any complicated platforms. Any smaller companies out there? I can't find jack lately, even with over 10 years experience. I need consistent work!

Listen, so you have had a great time at KS. I am happy for you. I am not saying that you are not telling the truth. However, you are telling me that everything I say is not true. How can you know this? And because you have a good experience with KS, you are assuming that I must just be some loser MT who cannot hold a job. I must be lying because you have never had any problems with KS. How can you know this?
In reality, I am a very good MT. I am a great employee. I have been and always will be. I don't take off work, I work OT most days. I do 20,000 lines per pay period and have a 99 percent accuracy score at my company. I am also NOT a liar.
The bad goes with the good. If someone asks a question about KS with regards to their business practices, they want an overall idea of how it really is. So, the truth has to be told. That is WHY they are asking. Also, there are many MTs who are of the same opinion of KS and there is a reason behind that. It would be because we have all had the same issues there. Are some people happy there?? Sure. No one says they don't have happy MTs. But my experience, and that of other MTs, cannot be overlooked on the assumption that we are all just bad MTs.

If you can take the chance the new job won't work out, I would not trust the current job to be straight, or fair, in the future.
That said, you should at least *ask* your supervisor point blank did he/she know it was a software issue? Did QA?
If NO one (outside upper management) knew, then you have to consider this, so you need to ask.

I would think it's all just a convoluted ploy to: A) Pat themselves on the back for their spectacular prank; B) Avoid paying unemployment benefits. If they cut your pay that much, you can potentially receive UI benefits. If they fire you without cause (based on your report of prior good employee status), you can receive UI benefits. But if you quit, you get nadda/zip/zilch. They get a good laugh at screwing you out of your benefits and it doesn't cost them a dime.

Take spaces and do not tell you, so they can make payroll probably since pays have finally been on time for a change. You are absolutely incorrect. Do not lie on this board. research that I had done on these forums, keeping logs of specifics I was looking for in companies. An awful lot of MTs do this exact thing, working off of just a few sites. That is how important our careers are to us. We are not naive enough to read 1 thread of someone singing praises. Basically, its the MQ MTs. Lots of us knew years ago where things were headed, yet we were professionals who had no need to panic at that point, but rather did our research and accepted positions at companies based on intelligent decisions based on long-term gathered data. However, if the data gathered over a year or an hour is garbage, then so much for the informed decision. Its like an informed consent for an operation - we made our decisions based on what was presented to us by MTSOs as well as employees. However, some of the MTSOs lied and, as we found later, pose as the MTs themselves on internet forums to further their lies. Of course we all see the sticky note, and of course we all try to be wise and cautious, yet you have to trust somewhere. Otherwise, we'd all be paralyzed with indecision. I hate to base my life choices on lies. Don't you?

Make sure you make the corrections and save the revised document!
I updated my resume and saved it, but when I went to send it out realized I had not updated my email address. I updated it on the resume I was sending out at that particular moment, but forgot to change it and save it in Word. After I had to correct it 3-4 times as I went to send it, I FINALLY remembered to go into the actual document, make the change and save it.
Sometimes I really wonder how I function in day to day life, I'm such a scatterbrain, lol!!!

by this board; however, the negative things that have been stated have been true. Guess I should have taken the hint the first 3 times in regards to getting the hiring process completed. Since they could not follow through with that, don't know what made me think they could follow through with anything else!

I work for a great company, but if I would be put in a position where I would need to find employment elsewhere, OSi would be one of the companies that I would stay clear of. There must be some crazy stuff going on there.

This is a fine example of my question: How are editors not having to make major changes to reports coming back from overseas? No matter what anyone is saying, there has to be some major editing. Possibly not so much in regard to medical terminology, but just misuse of proper grammar. This has to be creating a lot of work if you have to edit almost every sentence in a report. But I guess, if the overseas MTs have a doctor dictating who knows our language properly, they get to type verbatim. Just curious how overseas MTs do when they transcribe for an ESL doc from a different country here in the U.S. who is not so efficient at dictating. It has to be a mess.

I am not management. I do VR; the term 'these people' refers to those who refuse to even CONSIDER doing VR and would rather jump ship than learn.
Honestly, I wish EVERY account at TT would go to VR to weed out all of those who can't comprehend a simple post. I'm not surprised so many of resist doing VR; the lack of reading comprehension which is vital to VR is obviously missing in many of you.

Which offshore out of those? I want to go with a big company for a few reasons, but I do not want MQ or Spheris. I'm also just curious. It seems like they are very big and the rest are much smaller. Am I right or just assuming? Which company or companies do you think are growing and will catch them or close? Are there any out there that have that potential? I would love to get in for chance for advancement but not ground level because I want stability. Easy to know what I want, hard to articulate it clearly. I have read previous posts, tried to research other sources and want to put together a good list for myself.
