Because they don't hire MTs residing in California, that is discrimination? No, it is not the same as racism. That is really ridiculous. It's only common sense that some business law must come into play here.

Discrimination suit
I know there's that law that protects us from discrimination when we are between 40 and 70. However, it would be difficult to prove that this was their reason for not hiring me. I'm sure they would come up with some other excuse. And, I doubt if the Labor Board would fight with them. As a matter of fact, I am past the time limit on reporting that, as it happened more than 6 months ago (I think 6 months is the time limit for filing the complaint). As for a separate civil suit, that would probably be more trouble than it's worth. But, in the future, I will keep better notes and will create a paper trail just in case.

You are reading between lines and not too well at that. If you are paying someone a huge salary, you have the choice of not wanting someone who might be there 1 day and not the next. Has nothing to do with age. It has to do with their wellness.

I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances. It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company. They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!! Never seen anything like it before.
Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people

to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.

I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company. I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people. If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession. When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl. If it were me being talked about, I would be livid. I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.

I always change inappropriate things. Yet, if I do have to send a report to QA they change it back to "verbatim" and deduct me. That is NUTS. If you know it is a "she" and not a "he" verbatim is out the window as far as I am concerned. Some QA people need to get a life. We MTs take our jobs seriously.

I am not pro-MT or pro-MTSO. I am a person who tries to treat people fairly and wants to be treated fairly myself.
To the person who got fired: Why in heaven's name would a company keep someone who makes errors, apparently consistently, takes off at the last minute and has problems? The bottom line is THEIR credibility suffers for your actions and they are a business. I'm sure everyone is sorry your are having problems in your life but come on! How long is someone supposed to wait around until you get your life together? You really expected that? You said, they knew I was having problems and that things would turn around? Say what???!!!!
Like I said, sorry you are having problems in your life but the world still goes on. The place you worked for very well could have said they don't want work produced by you. Why would they? By your own admission, there were errors, glaring enough that the MTSO and the place you typed for couldn't take a chance with you anymore.
This is what's wrong with the world today. Everyone wants not just a second chance, but a 3rd, 4th, etc. Let me say that no one can put up with mistake after mistake in a MEDICAL report. It just can't happen, no matter what the reason. While I'd be upset if this happened to me, I'd realize it was my own fault and take responsibility for it. Why blame the company for your actions? Get your act together and if you are as good as you think you are, you will surely find something else.

I have known and worked with her and have followed her career and she is one of the best MTs, QA persons, knows-about-the-MT-business world people I've known (and I've known her for 10 years). I also know she has solid backing from a number (not just 1 or 2) of well-known MTSOs and she would not have that if these allegations were true. I doubt those who put her down will find jobs with several of those MTSOs because of their loyalty to her. Her dedication to this profession cannot be questioned unless it is by someone who comes across poorly, IMO.

human resources (love the ratsources) have no idea about transcription but like to think they are important and run slipshod over people. After all, they control your check and your benefits.
You don't have to take the job. But some people may want it.
wages only pay what the market will bear. If no one will work for 6-7 cpl, you won't see ads for that. However, I will tell you there are plenty of experienced people with good skills who are willing to work for that. But you don't have to...at least as long as you can get better!

Not because they do not trust MT Stars, but because when there are major blow-ups at companies and they are talked about, the companies make it plain to their MTs that they are reading what is written and it feels a bit threatening to the MT.
