There was a Vicki too that was at a few companies, but I heard that she passed away. I guess it is
I don't think small companies need recruiters, and I think the big ones have all shared them over time!
Check Monster, CareerBuilder, MedHunters.com. Check with the companies you see listed if they're

I would definitely give 2 weeks, as well.
I wouldn't want to burn bridges.
6 weeks first check
I'm wondering if it's me, or does anyone else think it is not right about starting a company and having to wait 6 weeks for the first check?  I applied to a company and they said if a person works 5/1 thru 5/31, the first check would be 6/13, and that would cover the first 2 weeks worked.  This is the second company I have found like that.  Even with direct deposit - that is a long time.
6 weeks first check
This information should have been explained to you during the hiring process. Did you ask about this during your initial inquiry with the company? If not, you should have. This would have been a deal breaker for me.
Just because companies don't know how to sell a contract,
they shouldn't pass their shortcomings on to us. This is part and parcel of what is killing our profession. Companies keep low-balling contracts and we all will lose. Very sad.
I'd give 2 weeks notice...
Have known several people who quit that office and never were told just to pack it in now.
I agree...give it at least 2 more weeks...
you never know, you may find your speed and production picking up and you will love the account...hang in there a bit longer!
It is customary for any job to give 2 weeks
x
Did you leave on bad terms? I know that if you did not give 2 weeks and sm
or did not work out the 2 weeks, you are not eligible for rehire. A good friend of mine worked there and left. She did not finish her 2 weeks and now they will not hire her back. I really cannot blame them. If someone does it once, they might do it again.

If I were you, and it happened to you, go to Becky or Lee. They are usually easy to get on your side.
It is always okay to not give 2 weeks to an employer who is not paying you.
By not paying you, your employer has broken the employment agreement. My husband runs a small construction company and begs, borrows, and lets his bills go unpaid before he EVER makes his employees wait for a check. They are also paid immediately following a payperiod, not a week, or 2, or when we decide to get a check in the mail.

I was in this situation with my last employer. I did start to e-mail my supervisor that I was not working until I was paid. Of course, that ended up cutting off my nose to spite my face, so I went job hunting.

Lastly, from a business standpoint, if your employer cannot go to a bank for a short-term note to cover payroll until their payments come in, you are on the verge of a huge problem. Our credit is far from perfect, even including a bankruptcy 6 years ago, but my relationship is good enough with my bank if I went in and asked for an emergency operating note, we would get it. If your employer cannot or will not do this, it's time to find a more stable company.

I think it is very respectful to give 2 weeks notice.
So, I give that respect to the employer who has shown me respect.  Respect is earned, not demanded.  I also believe that 2 weeks notice used to be the professional norm and a courtesy to help the employer hire and train a replacement.  I don't think management has the same courtesy for its employees any more and notice to employees about companies shutting down or downsizing is generally not given anymore.  There are the exceptions, but again, it is how respectful your employer is.
I got my first check within 2 weeks when I started last February
I never had to wait a month.
It took me 9 weeks and 2 phone calls to get my check.
I had to leave voice mails and no calls ever returned, but I finally got my check.  I knew someone who was still waiting after 12 weeks.
Have worked for them 8 weeks, haven't received a check yet. -nm

I didn't HEAR of it being over $500 each month..I see it taken out of my check every 2 weeks..(sm
$254 each pay period.  I honestly hope you're right that the final paperwork was signed last Friday because I had decided to have it discontinued after the March 15 paycheck and either look on my own or go without coverage for a while until I find a more reasonable plan.  The insurance itself is great but too high.  I can't imagine how you are paying only $184 per month and I have been paying over $500 since December 2006 for single coverage!
Forget my check is 2 weeks late, I am quitting my

job because I have to use some of my ink to print out paperwork.  If that is an honest-to-goodness complaint, you need a dose of reality.

A printer with ink will cost about $30 to $40.  My company owes me $900 in back wages and $900 in current wages.  Yes, I refuse to work any more until I am paid, but I am still out almost $2000.  All they say is check is in the mail.

If you can put your MT-princess resume out there and get a better job that doesn't require you to spend thousands of cents on ink, you should go for it.

They give QA bonuses also, but it would be on the same check.

Please check back with us and give us
an update on what you thought of the training and how you are doing?  Inquiring minds want to know;-)  GOOD LUCK and hang in there.
I asked about these 2 companies a couple of weeks ago, just not
about rad, and I was told to go with Keystrokes.   Both companies seem to have 90+% positive comments, though I have seen more with rad about KS.
Companies that have training for new hires - do most pay by hour during 1-2 weeks? any info? nm
 .
Why don't these companies give us
all of the information right up front? Even if they can't give the exact pay, at least a range, along with the benefits. We wouldn't have to go through applying and testing over and over, and they wouldn't receive hundreds of resumes to go through for each job. It would save us all, the companies and the transcriptionists, a lot of
aggravation! Maybe I'm missing something, but it makes sense to me.
What companies out there give you (sm)

assigned work, as in a handful of dictators.  I am looking to pick up some clinic work without large armies of dictators to get used to!
Thanks!

Can't you give her any names for companies? sm
You have been around and tried many - you should have some names to give yourself.

Can you give me the name of companies who are flexible in regards to
once you are done with your required lines or your own personal goal, but is less than 8 hours, allow you to stop at that point.  Hope that makes sense.  Say I can do 1500 lines in 6 hours, are there any companies who will allow me to quit once I get my 1500 lines?  If so, would you share the names please?
when referring to Bad Companies, give the name.

Do companies give raises?
Not in this economy. Just give thanks you have a job.
If MT companies do not give out raises, how do they sm
expect you to keep up with the cost of living?  I've been at my company for 2 years and was shot down for a raise.  I know others have been at their companies much long with no raises.  If I worked at a hospital or clinic, I would have gotten a raise by now.  Just something to show the appreciate me would be nice!  Are all companies this greedy?

You can also do a background check on companies
Check with the BBB and check with other agencies for reports against the company.

As an MTSO myself, I encourage that. It's always a good idea to check out what you're getting into. I have no problem with MTs sharing this information on a message board, either. I think it's a good thing. If an MTSO has a history of not paying employees, that is definitely something an MT needs to know in advance and if other MTs failed to report that to the BBB or other agencies, a message board may be the only place you can find that info.

However, when I work for someone, even if I have a problem with that company or person, I will keep my mouth shut until I quit. Once you no longer have a working relationship with them, then it's fair game. Until then, I prefer to zip my lip. I don't burn my bridges in case I would like a reference later and quitting always looks better on a resume than being let go. It's not a matter of loyalty, just good business sense. It will always be more beneficial to you, the MT, to keep your thoughts to yourself until you sever the working relationship.
The last 2 companies I worked for DD my check the
first pay period.   There could possibly be a bank issue, but it isn't an across the board issue.
Most companies hold your first check

I would check back with the companies
and just ask them what you may or may not have done wrong so you know in the future. I have done that in the past and they are usually polite and helpful.
Can you give me the names of the companies here that were not honest?

Any companies out there give birthday bonuses or anything? sm
My birthday is right around the corner and I would love to know how many companies out there take the time out to remember our birthdays.  I understand that these companies might have many, many employess or ICs, but we are not just a number...or are we? Just curious to find out the good companies out there...
This attitude is the reason that many companies give nothing at all. sm
I worked for a company that gave a small bonus about 5 years ago. So many MTs complained about the size that the owner decided to never do anything again. I know of a few other owners that feel the same way.

I only have 10 employees, but I cannot afford a large bonus, so I am not giving anything at all. Believe it or not, most MTSOs do not make millions, live in mansions and eat bon-bons while their employees do all the work. There are times that my employees make more than I do. Not whining. Just stating facts.
A few dial-up companies inside. Check their

They asked for a background check but most companies do, don't they?
They asked for $55 for my background check. I have tried to search, Google, ect, and I can't find anything about them except more job listings. Any advice at all for a struggling newbie?
Question: Are there any companies left out there that send give X-mas
presents?  I sent my MTSO a christmas card last year and got a big fat nothing in return.  Is it too much to expect a little something for the holidays, even if it's just a card?
Does anyone find it interesting how companies want ICs and then give you the schedule you are to
work.  I thought by law you are not allowed to set a schedule for an IC.  Seems to me they are getting the best of both worlds for a whole lot less because of benefits they are getting out of paying and all the things the government requires.
Still good companies in my opinion...was not on the list. Check them out for yourself OP

May not be lying.. *certain* companies never bothered to check their work.

Thanks -- I'll make a note of those 2 companies and check them out. sm
Unfortunately, I am reaching that ripe old age where I see a crown in my future
What companies give an accurate EXText line count?
Either an accurate count or the option to check your own!
Considering some companies do give a weekly quota, maybe you shouldn't speak
x
I am curious as to what companies give at Christmas. Has anyone gotten a bonus/gift from their
company?
I also work both until I am sure new job will work out. Then give 2 weeks.
