Softscript is a great company to work for! sm
I have been there a good while. Pay is on time. I have plenty of work except through Christmas/New Years. It was low then. Some people have negative to say about the company, others have positive. You are better off judging for yourself really. Our managers have not changed since last June, so don't know about the 'new management' as they have all been in place since then and since then I have noted nothing but positives within the company. Hope this helps and no, I do not want any flames just because I happen to like Softscript.
IMHO
I have been concerned with these type of issues for several years now and have recently decided on an approach that I believe will be effective...Like many others it seems on this board I was involved with the UCSF mess and it did get a lot of attention...but those ripples have since subsided..
I believe this: the first thing to do is to adopt the city, state and locale of your acct...contact their tv stations, radio stations, local newspapers, any other sort of venue that you feel applies...simply make it known without giving acct or company name that local citizens are having their sensitive medical information outsourced with not only questionable quality but questionable privacy safeguards..for the most part this does generate a reaction and local discussion..once the information about outsourcing has been given the light of day, the next step and the more difficult one is unionization...with structural and strict pay tiers, cpl designated for each and every type of report imaginable, and union bureacracy and detail enforcement brought full force into this industry that has simply become a plantation...with most MTs seen as nothing more than menial labor...that, in my estimation, is the only only way the profits that always seem to travel upward are ever going to bring forth for the day to day MT benefits, protection, fairness and job security..then maybe there will be a quality for quality exchange that will benefit everyone...
IMHO
They dumped the leads so they wouldn't be able to see who was getting all the work (Non-US MTs) on Job Lister.
IMHO
Your perspective is meaningless. Glad you moved on!!
what does IMHO mean?
I keep seeing it on here but have no idea what it means.
IMHO - nm
It is never, never a good idea to be paid like that for your work. Docs can be VERY slow in paying. Do your bills wait? I don't think so. RUN!
Only that they are the best company out there IMHO and
all the best to you, they truly are a wonderful place to work and they take care of their MTs. Let us know how it goes :)
Specialty, IMHO.
I've done both, and I think specialty pays the most, mostly because you do the same people often, so you can really build up your shortcuts and whatnot. I, however, have never done inpatient OPs (to any great degree) but I've often wondered if that doesn't pay much better, because of the normals.
In any case, I'm making 9 cpl doing specialty (cardiology) and have no problem whatsoever (when I apply myself and don't stop to read this board) typing 400+ lph.
But that's just me. I'd like to hear others who have done both, because I've often wondered if that's the norm.
Transtech. IMHO.
I have tried nationals, locals, the only close that comes to inhouse acute care and gives the ability to get anywhere near what I used to work is Transtech. And yes, I work overnight, and weekends, and whenever the work is there, but I like those schedules.
Fantastic company IMHO. nm
Of course, it depends on the companies, but IMHO....sm
It has been my own experience (almost 20 years now) that I have been happiest, on average, with smaller companies versus large ones. It seems the larger companies are big on hype, big on promises, have fancier websites, but when it comes down to working conditions, how valued the employee is, communication with the company, being MT-centered, the local or smaller companies have ALWAYS been better for me in pay, supervisors, administration, and even the little perks, so much more personalized. Of couse, this is a generalization. It seems the larger the company, the more you are a number, the more they can lie and shuffle you around, change all the rules on you, etc......and again, just my opinion and experience. I also learned so much more from smaller companies because they were always willing to explain, mentor, help, which busier, huge companies just cannot do. Anyway, very good luck to you, rooting for you either way!!!
Yes, mine was there are usual. TT is still the best IMHO.
Glad to be there. Glad to stay.
still slow and clunky imho. nm

Webmedx fits that bill, great company, great benefits, great pay and always on time. NM

Great company, great boss, great account!!!nm

System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.
Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.
A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
You are pathetic! I have a great life, loving family, work for a great company.
You might want to fix that.
You really don't have to shout (angry person), but yes you are wrong!!
That is my last word to you!
I will add that getting a great pay check every other Friday from Medware really puts a huge smile on my face.
Oracle is great. Bayscribe is wonderful great line counts.
The trainer at OTI will always answer any questions about the platform and if you have any problems they have already worked them out, so just ask. Good luck!
YOG - Lots of work, great office staff, great money. NM

Loved Alltype! Great management and great accounts.
wah - i miss it there!

AXOLOTL - A GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT INSURANCE
Axolotl has AWESOME, AFFORDABLE insurance. Family plan medical and dental costs a little over $300.00 MONTHLY. They also pay for family plan vision in its entirety. STD, LTD, 401K with match and flex spending account, great PTO and HOLIDAY pay. OH and paid downtime in the case you run out of work, which doesn't happen often!!!
Great pay, great benefits for 11+ years..sm
I've just started with this great company (eMTS). I have 11+ years of experience and I was started at .10 per line as a regular employee, not IC, with a huge sign-on bonus, full benefits, very nice people, and a good account. So far, this is the best experience I've had in my years as a transcriptionist. Unfortunately, I don't believe they're hiring more right now, but you could always check in with them, they're online at eMTS.com. The management seems to really care and they work with you.
Great company, great boss....
I use to work there. The dictators on my account were really good. They use Emdat/Inscribe. Pay on 1st and 15th by direct deposit.
That''s great and I've heard they pay great as well.
I just have heard a lot of adjectives for a few accounts - zinger, killer, impossible, etc., and I sure know I couldn't hack it there. But I'm sure they know what they are getting into when they sign up.
Great little company..I worked there for a short time, IC, and pay always on time, great owner too!
I had good dictators, they use FTP, and I had a 12-hour window to return the work.
Started small; great company. Rapid growth; not so great company
First year I was there was like heaven. Then the big growth spurt when they hired managers from another company (that I had run away from before because of their bad management) and let them kind of take over. Although I have no proof it was as though I got 'bumped' by these new people when they came in and I lost a good account, good manager, etc. My paycheck went down every month lower and lower, and it became harder and harder to make my minimal lines. Having any kind of advocate was nonexistent.
It depends on you and what kind of MT you are. Seems to me there are pretty much 2 types...
Sports like basketball where you have the pros who play with finesse, and then you have street players who think it is all about physical strength, period. More and more the physical strength is winning but the art of the game gets lost more and more...
As in this country where there are almost 2 sides now, those with intellect and thoughtfulness, and those who think the only way to be strong and be a leader is to beat up everyone who does not agree with you...and force your will on others.
Suffice it to say in my opinion WMX changed its philosophy of the way it treated employees and lost its heart when it grew, and it was literally almost overnight...
If you are a mass producer who has no care of what it takes to make money, if you are a 'street fighter' then it would probably be for you because you WILL have to fight for everything. Fight for the right account, fight for lines, fight to be treated fairly, etc. If you appreciate MTing for the art of MTing or have any kind of joy for the profession, my guess is you will not make it there very long...
This is happening all throughout the what used to be called profession. Seems to happening all through everything these days. Humanity and heart are being pushed down to the bottom...
Great pay rate on a 55 ccl, great lady to work for and work is not tough. sm
It is all IC work, although you still are expected to give a schedule if you are doing stat coverage. Only major drawback is the big wait for your first check -- almost a month from the time of your first invoice.
Good luck!
WHAT IS UP WITH SOFTSCRIPT
Okay, pay late CONSTANTLY. ABSOLUTELY no communication from anyONE. What the heck is going on. I am RUNING while I still can, QA SUCKS. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THESE PROBLEMS OR JUST ME A NEWBIE?
Softscript
I also worked for Softscript awhile back but never had a problem with the paychecks, they were maybe a day or two late here and there. I just got tired of being on different accounts. I think one should have one account and get fluent on that with the same docs. It is more productive for both the MT and the company!! But I am EXTREMELY happy where I am at now, which is Keystrokes!!!! THAT COMPANY ROCKS!!! Woooo Hooooo
Softscript did it to.
Twice in 1 year and got away with it SO far.
SoftScript
Unless you have worked for all of the nationals out there, how could you possibly know that SoftScript is the worst? Perhaps in your experience it was the worst. How many nationals have you worked for?
Anytime a company changes the way they count lines, complaints end up on this board regarding that company. As far as stealing lines....I would imagine they changed the way they count their lines and this is not okay with you. By all means, you have a right to feel that way.
I have worked for SoftScript and as with every company, there are problems but I have also had a lot of positives come from working with SoftScript. I have been doing transcription for 25 years and in my own personal experience, they are no where near "the worst" to work for.
SoftScript
Anyone been recruited by SoftScript? They hounded me to take the test, which I did, saying that they were in dire need of transcriptionists because of all the work generated by Katrina. I tested, was notified that I passed and then never heard another word from them. I have been emailing but to no avail. :-(
QA for SoftScript?
I've read the messages here, both good and bad, about SoftScript, but has anybody done QA for them and if so, what was that experience like?
softscript
sorry that was MT

SoftScript QA
Can anyone enlighten me on this company? Considering applying for QA position.
Softscript
Please Email if you are now SoftScript MT and would care to share with me how you like the company. I am considering employment with them. Thanks.
Softscript
Can anyone tell me what type of benefits they offer. I cannot seem to get an answer. I am a single mom of 3 children and desperately need benefits. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
softscript
they pay about 0.085 cpl (at least for 3 yrs experience). lots of ESL and junk american-speaking doctors. lots of editors which could be a good thing (or not) (reports are corrected one way by one Editor and another way by another editor) causing reports not be consistent
SoftScript
Don't work for SoftScript. I tested, they said I did excellent and I waited and waited for a call back and never got one. I called them and they promised to call me to start work but never did. Their ads are false...they're just collecting resumes. I spent over 2 hours testing with them. So, be careful.
S/B OSi and SoftScript, as they

whazzup with softscript??? cant seem to get my line count up they keep changing my accounts when i do and give me Dr. asplkgabppsdkgiapdofnb every time. evidently this is not uncommon. glad to accept a new position today!!!!!!
softscript
sure...if you like changing accts, ESL, and lying on line counts SoftScript is the place 4U. they promised bonuses that never came, line counts kept decreasing, etc. impossible to make $$$
Softscript.

SoftScript
I have been working with them for 8 months. I have read the archives of this subject and have not experienced any of the problems that the former employees have mentioned. So many people have come and gone in the 8 months that I have been there that it probably might seem like a totally different company by now.
Softscript QA
I think they start QA out at 5 cpl now, but it could be 4 cpl. They do pay for spaces. They do not pay for headers. There is always plenty of work (I have never ran out in nearly a year). Unfortunately, I do not know anything about their benefits. I know they are currently looking at some better plans. There is no dental plan as of right now. I know they have medical but unsure of rates. They have paid holidays. They do require you to work a schedule which must include 4 hours on on the weekend but also with a schedule you must do X number of lines per day, usually not too hard to reach either. I like their software as it uses Word. You can check your line count in Word by dividing characters with spaces to get your line count for each document. There does seem to be several accounts with heavy ESL, but only 1 or 2 that I have found that I would like to shoot if I had the opportunity.
Hope this helps!
SoftScript
I currently work for them, have never been out of work, their software is easy to use, checks are always on time. Since I started with them I know they have grown more than double in the last 2 years. With any company there is going to be growing pains, but you the MT never feel it.
I will say if you cannot maintain 98% accuracy with them you will not be happy. Those that are complaining are the ones who could not maintain 98%. Think about your family and the person doing their medical reports, would you want them transcribing with a less than 98% accuracy?
Let the complainers complain, try the company for yourself.
