So you guys feel you're getting paid what you're worth with VR?

I'm not trying to be snarky. I've never done VR, so I'm trying to understand.
You're happy with your paycheck with VR? Do you find the files to be as bad as the original post implied?

that is sad, you're right, NO job is worth all that

You're not missing all that much. Not worth
being anxious over. I know they hire NJ MTs, so it must be a specific hospital account that won't let NJers in. They are often the middle man, or third party, or pain in the neck, between a hospital account and an MT. It sounded great on paper, but was not fun once working. Good luck.
at 12 years you're worth 13-14
Doubt it.... It all depends on what aspect of this business you are in. If you work for a company, you are worth what rate they are willing to pay with or without many years of experience. The experience helps in that you can get through reports quicker.
However, is then someone with 5 years of experience only worth 7 cpl? Who knows he answer to that question?
If you have an MTSO, you set your own rate dependent upon what is expected from you by the client. When you are an employee, you are paid what they consider the going rate which is usually very low. You then must produce as much as possible. I'm glad the MTSOs have QA because if I had to spend more than a few minutes on research, I'd leave a blank.
In the old days, the doctor reviewed the reports and filled in the blanks. What happened to that?
We "think" we're worth more? We are!
In any other profession knowledge, skills and experience are worth more - not less! Regardless of what MTSOs want to think, this is NOT assembly line work that any trained monkey or person off the street can do! I defy the geniuses in management to actually type one horrendous ESL mess after another for an 8 hours shift like we do...and then let them say what the job should pay!
Don't bother - they're not worth the time
Your "Two Cents" is probably what you're worth per line.

Another reason why MTs feel like they're dirt -
Although I've had my suspicions about this particular company I work for, I try to think positive, but in the back of my mind knowing that they all are a like. Even the smaller ones.
There are a couple of dictators I haven't seen in a while and inquired if they had left the hospital. Low and behold - the QA people get them. These docs have inserts you place in the report and get an additional 60+ lines with the touch of a button.
Of course I'm looking for another job. I know they read this board daily. Note to them - If you haven't see me typing my little fingers off for you lately, it's because of the games you play and I'm actively seeking employment elsewhere. Can't wait until I can quit being cheated by you.
you're gonna feel like a new human sm
being for sure! Congrats!
Maybe when we're paid more than...sm
the bare minimum, we'll be happy to learn more than the bare minimum. And what MT on these boards do you think knows just the bare minimum as you stated?
You're wrong. Never have been paid for OT. Many others
have said the same thing. I don't know how other accounts work, but there is no way to even submit OT on transnet, you can only submit the number of lines.
They're probably paid on production, too,
Too bad that's the standard
M.O. for most companies these days. Quantity over quality.
Paid for the whole report and you're right about
why you'd likely be fired after the adjustment time if you're not making at least min wage. The employer would need to supplement your income to bring you to at least min wage for your state.
Or you're paid by the hour/not line
Or, you are paid by the hour/not line.
Absolutely! We're no longer being paid enough sm

If you're paid by the line, and not for checking - sm

The reason MTs get paid nothing and treated like doormats is they're

Hope you're enjoying those slave wages you're earning.

So you're telling me, basically, they're bad news?
They offered me 0.095/line and you know - it sounded too good to be true, but I SWEAR the recruiter told me they do not outsource. Oh brother... I just wish they'd be honest. I really don't know what to do.
Not the OP, but they're supposed to take out all the other taxes as you're an employee with th
s
No, they're not losing money....they're gaining!
If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.
ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.
Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!
This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!
Hey, you're in luck then. They're hiring! (nm)

lolololol You guys are just too funny. Loving it and making me feel better (see icons)
It's "well." You're paid "well," not "good."
You get "good pay," and you're "paid well."
And the use of an apostrophe is required in ALL "n't" words. Not even going to try to tackle the balance of the punctuation.
Transcend obviously prefers quantity over quality these days.
Do you guys get paid for downtime?
That's one thing about MQ I'm thankful for. At least we get paid for our downtime. I don't know if we'll get paid for the jobs we've lost, though. Some say yes, some say no. I guess it's up to the PS.
Check out the MQ board - there's a link to check the status of DQS on their site. The link takes you directly to MQ's DQS, but I would think they offer it for all clients they serve.
Last I checked at 7:30 am EST, it was still down for MQ. Some MQ MTs are getting work, but I wouldn't until it at least gives you the yellow light (see site).
It's like a snow day - you're glad to be off unexpectedly, but you know you'll have to make it up!
You're right on it! They're just trying to cause panic.

Mts have "personality disorders" ? Like, wanting to be paid what their worth and not lied to?
How about vacation? Bereavement leave and not losing benefits because your parent is dying and you miss a quota?
Or, how about wanting a 401-K and employer contribution? Or medical and dental benefits? Is wanting those a personality disorder?
Or, wanting to make production, but getting NO WORK day after day, or getting only the worst dictators?
Let me know where you work where it is perfect, because I want to work there, too. But, I also want benefits and vacation and bereavement leave and a 401-K, as a minimum, and I want steady work, like I am a steady worker, and I want to be paid what I deserve, and I want some good work along with all the crap.
Thanks. Let me know. ONLY a profession of predominantly women would call the other women crazy for wanting the basics. Sheesh. Again, email me with that perfect job, because I'd like to have one just like it.
Sounds like a company I worked for. I did get paid in full but I sure know how you feel!
Can you post or email me just the initials of company and I'll let you know if this is the same one. It has happended to me by more than one company in my time as an MT
Everyone IS paid by the line. I read your posts and feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

now we're getting somewhere....
Great qualities... absolutely. Can you be more specific. What type of communication do you think works? What doesn't? Concern is also important. But how far should it go. Certainly a company needs to be understanding if an MT has some problems, but remembering it is not the company's job to take care of someone, what about when the MT is not producing or working when scheduled? How long do you let it go on? What if the MT has chronic problems. What is the company's role here?
I can say my boss was ALWAYS flexible with my schedule, but I also made sure that I made up the time and the lines. I didn't abuse it.
You're better off
Someone else will appreciate your abilities.
You're welcome; here's what I can tell you ...
Spheris' family insurance is with United Healthcare and the premium for family coverage is about $180 per payperiod (2-weeks).
As far as PTO with Spheris, as a FT employee, you would earn 10 days a year for your first 5 years of service, then it goes up from there.
I hope that gives you a guideline to go by.
If you're looking for
and to be treated well, then you will like TT. They really are the best company I've ever worked, for and I've worked for more than a few. In this business of never meeting who you work for and not knowing what you're getting in to until it's too late, they are a breath of fresh air. They always pay on time, pay what they say they will pay, are very kind and honest. Good luck.
you're right...sm
when I was in school, for MA, not MT, my instructor said the ones taking the MT class were just waisting their time. I worked as an MA until I got pregnant, then worked as an MT after my son was born. I'm gonna ride it out as long as it's available. Then, hopefully I won't be too old to do something else!

Oh, if you're asking me -- I don't know. I wish I could

They're far from going under.
They're securing new accounts all the time because they're a good company with a fair, honest owner and a wonderful support staff and QA, etc.
I hear there are one or two bitter ex-employees out there who do nothing but trash the company, and it's totally unwarranted.
so what you're saying is . . .
No brains required! LOL! Sounds good to me!
If you're sure...
I would contact my coordinator and ask. I think the system is set up only with and without ops, that's it. On the VA account I do, if any report is skipped, the MT is questioned. Melody sent out an email not too long ago about cherrypicking and I know management is now noting who is skipping what.
