I can't tell you how often I've considered sending anonymous letters to hospitals/docs! nm

They're sending everything to India now.

They're sending me their pre-employment screening....but
If their software doesn't even have spellcheck, then I think I'll just move on.
Thanks for the heads up.
If you had applied with them in the past, they're sending out emails with

QA Bogus
I don't know what company you work for, but I work doing QA for 2 different companies and each of them bases the 98% accurancy on 500 lines of transcription, not by report. Then depending on the error it is rating anywhere between 0.25 deduction and a 3 point deduction depending on where it falls in affecting patient care. If your company is basing it on report rather than lines, maybe, just maybe, you are working for the wrong company.
What's bogus?
They most certainly do offshore. And aren't shy about admitting it (though if the actual amount they admit to is correct is anybody's guess).

Keystrokes sending sending my W2, anyone else? NM

That is a flat out bogus lie.
First, they don't have to give ANY reason and can let you go -- it's called employment-at-will and it's how virtually every state in this union operates.
Second, working "off the clock" is NOT FREE LABOR for MQ. They are still paying you. You simply are not eligible to receive benefits. You also have advantages such as not having to follow any certain schedule and not having to work any certain number of hours...only a line count minimum to make per payperiod. There are pros and cons of both.
While both types of positions work in conjunction with one another to help MQ function, it is the employee position (NOT the SE positions) that give them their greatest strength.
Get over your rotten attitude and stop spreading lies.
It'd be a different story if the CMT were not a bogus,
fake 'credential' dreamt up by a coupla women with a get-rich-scheme in mind, not the betterment of the MT industry. It a CMT were worth getting, that's one thing. But it's not, and the money people are paying this organization to send them phoney 'certification' initials is going right into siphoning American work out of America and straight to other countries. And that has served only to make it nearly impossible to make a decent living as an MT in America anymore. If you think that's cool, then by all means, give 'em your hard-earned money and have at it. But do so knowing you're contributing to what will ultimately be the end of this profession in America if AHDI/AAMT isn't thoroughly investigated, and preferably stopped.
QA is bogus -just hear me out
I have a huge beef with the entire MT industry and here it is. You are basically saying that you have to have 98% QA right? But do you know how this works? It is not actually 98% It is 1 point or 2 points or whatever for a report. This can be 10 lines or 1000 lines. Of course the longer the report, the more chance you will make an error. If this were any other business, the workers would not put up with this type of QA but for some reason MTs do not notice how unfair this is. If QA wants to fail you, all they have to do is give you long reports. If they want to pass you easily, just give you short reports and tell you ahead of time you will be in QA that week - so be careful. Thanks for letting me get this out of my system. It is a cruddy way to QA folks and we should not put up with it -- but --- we do.
And does that company have the letters M & Q in it?
Resignation letters
Is it customary to give a 2-week notice for IC status?
That's the company's bogus answer
I work every Saturday 10a-2p and come back and do 10p-2a. On Sundays, I usually do a fairly similar schedule. I have primary responsibility for two hospital accounts, one a very large teaching hospital and the other a mid-size community hospital. I could count one hand the number of STATs I get from both hospitals either day, and even that would be a really busy STAT day for the pair. For whatever reason, you want to buy into management's BS, but the only person you're fooling is yourself.
Anyone knows phone # starting with 555 is bogus
Give me a break. This is used in both movies, commercials and the like.
I was wondering if those might be bogus posts
Stranger things have happened in this business.
You mean copies of the letters of recommendation? If you

FYI - the orthopedic account is mostly letters
Just an FYI -
Send out letters of introduction to local
physicians. Doesn't guarantee you an account, but maybe someone is looking.
Some people need letters after their name just as a feeling of accomplishment
if for no other reason and nothing is wrong with that. No, it does not make you a better MT and it most likely will not reap you a lot more money. I know I made top line rate without mine but that's because I was an excellent MT. Sometimes we just want to do it to do it just for ourselves and there is no reason to knock someone down just because they have those initials behind their name.
The school is a BUSINESS and the bogus pay scale is ADVERTISING
It's called free enterprise. How could anyone believe such a claim? You've gotta be kidding me.
Could I interest you
in some ocean front property I have for sale in the middle of the Mohave desert?
Oh yeah, I'm sure that one of us will come up with some good letters to send the clients. nm

Cover letters! Brings back memories!
I remember preparing my very first resume...fancy stock paper with watermark, with the obligatory short-n-sweet cover letter included, even a reference sheet if I was feeling ballsy, all mailed in a manilla envelope the same size as the paper so there were no creases! Now everything is done electronic and it's SO impersonal!
I'm such an old fart.
I have always had an interest in this company, but....sm
their starting rate was way LOW for me. Have the upped this? Let us all know whether the pay is low, average, above average. TIA
And they seem to have an interest in buying some
nm
Isn't that a conflict of interest? NM
nm
Something of interest....PLEASE READ.
The first time I noticed this, I shrugged it off. But it's happened again and time to share it with my fellow workers.
I noticed the account on which I work had no reports in the one particular subspecialty I am supposed to work first, which I found odd.
I signed in the next day, there were more than 20 reports on that particular subspecialty. As I began transcribing, I noticed these reports had been dictated 9/8/2009; I was transcribing on 9/11/2009.
Where did these reports go for 3 days?
Beats me but my assumption is *somebody* didn't meet TAT and the work bounced back to the US.
Interestingly, isn't it?
Test dictations are often bogus and not true voice files from the company. Need to ask. nm

I would agree with the conflict of interest..
I do wonder how many people actually get caught doing this. Our vendors do have people work for other hospitals to make sure they stay productive. I never thought about the situation until it happened. What is funny is that this 1 girl I knew worked as an employee with me, BUT also worked for 1 of the vendors and my boss knew about it. She doesn't work for the vendor anymore and she still works as an employee with us. That was the interesing part.
Not legal, more conflict of interest.... nm
nm
I don't see it as a conflict of interest. If you meet your
obligations to each company it isn't anyone's business what you do.
When you sign a contract with a company rarely is there a clause about not working for oneone else, only a noncomplete clause.
Now if you are using their equipment for the other company I see a major issue with that, maybe not illegal, but certainly not ethical. I
I use my own equipment, and there is no conflict of interest. sm
I would prefer to only work one full-time job, but there are things that I want (like a roof over my head and to pay the utilities - ha), and the only way I know how to get them is to work enough so that I can have them. My full-time job is acute care, and the PT jobs are clinic work, so it is nice change of pace for me ... at least as nice as still sitting all day and pounding a keyboard can be. The way the wages have gone down in this industry, it seems I have to work twice as hard to make half as much. I made more in 1983 than I do right now. Still ..... such is life. And when I want to have a little pity party about having to work so much, etc., I just think of those who do not even have a job or a place to stay, and I realize I should be grateful to be working at all.
Also, what does interest companies contact mean?
Interest companies? What is that? (at end of job post).
Wonderful company, but you type letters and look up addresses and you do not get paid for spaces nm

Funny some of us were written letters by company attorney when we posted our concerns here

Conflict of interest working for 2 nationals
Just a question - back in 1998, it was considered a conflict of interest to work for 2 nationals such as Edix and Medquist. From what I see, it does not appear to be that way now. Can someone shed some light on this? For those who work for nationals - do they know you work for their competition? No flaming please - just curious.
No interest in running a business... of ANY kind... been there, done that.
If you're a business owner, you already know why.
you know, you don't have to open posts about topics that don't interest you.

Conflict of interest working for 2 companies?
Has anyone ever come across a company that makes you sign paperwork stating that you are not working for another company. I need a second part-time job, finally found one and while filling out the paperwork I came across this. I didn't tell them I was working for another company during the interview but also did not deny it. Should I give up the second or just not tell?
Your friend probably just kept paying the interest and rolling it over...
then it could add up to any amount. That is how they get you good.
I would change banks, they are making interest off your paycheck for a day.

No, but she didn't say she was sending any
We talked this morning, and I told her I needed a couple of days to think about it. Yes, I'd like to chat via e-mail, but how do we do that? Do I do post reply versus post quick reply? Tell me how, and I'll send you a note about it and we can compare notes!
Yes, the week is not over. They are sending
out MT week gifts, and they sent them out late due to packaging problems. Of course, it would be better to win the lottery - but the gifts are very nice! (A tote bag, a pedometer and a stress ball that is modeled as a computer). (I know this because I work in the office)
You are right, they are sending me a check
so obviously it has not been invested. How dare they use our money?
How would you be getting and sending the jobs? SM
I once worked for a hospital for all of six weeks. They had a main frame, which was extremely slow. The head of the department told me how fast it was. The problem was, she never used it.
Find out what the platform is like and if you can use Expanders and how they divvy up the work. Then I would take the job, because I work for national and it is indeed going downhill fast.
After sending one Email you should have

I would see nothing wrong with sending
one to the company/office in general. It would be very nice I think.
Yes the same MTs sending work to QA
day in and day out. I get sick of it. And nothing is done about it from management.
re sending work to QA
I really don't believe we'd be penalized or cut for that, UNLESS it was for the same type mistakes over and over, or inexcusable ones that would be caught in proofing, etc. Hope I'm right.
Would mind sending me one as well?
I feel so out of it since I cannot talk to anyone about this.
I'm sending you an email. nm
