What a rip. And how many of their employees have actually made off with one of their precious computers that they have to stick you with a deposit? I think they're just trying to cover their training costs.

Our medical records are private. They should not be sent overseas. The language barrier can sm
cause a lot of very serious errors in a medical record, and I, for one, want my work kept here.
There are a lot of services that do not send work overseas and will not because they believe in keeping everything in the U.S. It was the deciding factor for me when weighing between two companies. One company was very vague when asked, but the other, Keystrokes, was adamant about staying U.S. only.
I started with them 2 years ago and will retire with this company, as long as it keeps the same ownership (had to clarify that as if the ownership changes, I would probably leave). I have not heard of them selling out, so I am hoping to stay!
What info is in that email that is confidential or private?
If anyone is sending out private emails, I'd like info on this company also! TIA!

He doesn't trust VR, or doesn't trust his MT to train it correctly?
Or perhaps his MT(s) has/have been filling his head with horror stories about VR and how it is a lawsuit waiting to happen?
Personally, I don't see any reason an M.D. would not trust a VR program, unless he's seen the products of a report edited by a less than competent MT who didn't do their editing job appropriately.

I'm all for writing our congressmen about offshoring medical info, but...
These are old bills introduced to the 109th congress in 2005. I wish people would get their information straight. It just makes us all look like idiots if we write to congress refering bills that don't exist anymore or we are actually referencing current bills that have nothing to do with protecting privacy and offshoring medical info!

The website is even less informative for careers with them.) What is the web-based platform they now use and how do/did you like it? Their ads offer 8 to 10 cpl. I just received an offer to test, wonder if it is worth it; I have a few offers, but nothing I am truly convinced about....how is this company to work for, and do they accept PT folk, don't care if it is IC, SE, or regular employee......and I, too, need flexibility, as long as I get my lines in and always make turnaround time. Long time ago, there were many, many companies that operated that way; now, it seems, everyone is very rigid -- so am I, but I have to make things work with family situation, I am not only caring for 3 kids, but also 89-year-old mom part-time. Thanx all in advance!

Not these days. Many MTs are also MTSOs, so I wouldn't count on PRIVACY wherever you intend to go with this. As both, I would be willing to share what I know with my colleagues if I felt it was to their benefit. Multiply me by many and there goes your site of shame. Good luck to you too! Hope you can CYA sufficiently to avoid problems for yourself. You should be nicer to these MTs. They help pay your salary. Maybe MTs should do away with recruiters? Too many middlemen drive up the price and the providers would benefit from the absence of all the middlemen in all areas that try to get a piece of the action in their practices. Maybe without you all it would benefit the greater good. Something to think about, eh?

My husband is trying to change careers so I went looking for a new MT job instead of being an IC since his new career takes 6 months for the insurance to kick in. We are going to check all our options but I believe we will go private instead of spending nearly $1000 a month on it
You can get a private policy for less than that and probably
better insurance too. At that price I don't think they are absorbing any of the cost, so it really isn't a benefit.
