If Im not mistaken, Smarttype only works with MS Word???

EXText & SmartType
For some reason our IT person is unable to get SmartType to work with Dictaphone's EXText. Did you have to turn something off in EXText in order to use SmartType? I would love to know so I can use it again. Thanks for letting me know it is possible.
ExText & SmartType
I have ExText and and Smartype. They will work together in a sense but not the way Smartype works with Word only. You have to have Stedman's set to run every time Word is opened. When you are in ExText you can use your Stedman's Smartline and Smartlist but you will not be able to create new shortcuts while in ExText. You will have to set up your shortcuts when you are not in ExText. Sometimes when you are in ExText and you cannot see your Smartype, if you shrink your window down and then bring it back up, you will be able to see it.
I absolutely love Smartype but it only works the way it is supposed to work with Word alone. If you are using a non-Word based platform it will not work at all, which is a real bummer because it has so many awesome benefits.

one other thing about Extext and SmartType
Most of the time, if you use the Ctrl key commands, it will shut turn off your ST. You just go up to the upper right hand corner and hit the minus sign. Once the document is minimized, go to the bottom of the screen and click your document to maximize it. This will start your ST running properly again.
