Since I worked on 2 different VR platforms at Transcend

I find it extremely hard to believe that you are getting handfuls of reports with only 2 or 3-keystroke corrections in the entire report in a day.  In all the time I've worked on VR I can't even count on 1 hand the days I've had a handful of 2 or 3-keystroke corrections.  I think you're exaggerating a bit or I've been extremely unlucky to get the kind of VR editing that I've gotten for a year.  On the other hand, I can pull an 60-line OP report in from autotext in less than 4 Keystrokes and do this repeatedly on OPs throughout the day.

Bringing to the top, re Transcend's platforms: How is Beyond Textl? SM

Is it productive at all?  I think it is a VR and transcription mixture and may actually belong to MDI-FL.  Thanks!

And I guess you have worked on all the platforms so
that gives you the ability to say better just to erase and type straight. Told at my job was not to be done. Anyway, who in their right mind wants to erase only to be paid 4 or even 3 cents a line for retyping? Does that make any sense at all? So many on here talking about no work, I will just take my $19.75 hourly rate for my 8 hours today and be very satisfied and I did not delete and retype, ridiculous.
Both and worked on 2 accounts and 2 platforms sm
but I couldn't get any more than 11,0001
I worked for Transcend!

I know nothing about Transcend. I worked for JLG

back when they were supposed to be a really good company and they paid by gross lines.  But I was on an account with the CRAPPIEST mushmouth dictators I have ever heard in my life.  My account must have been just overflow of the dictators the hospital MTs didn't want to do because every single one of them was bad.  I made okay money, but I think with gross lines I should have been able to do so much better - and I could have if the dictators were decent.

Okay, then one time there was no work on what I usually work on so I moved over to ERs.  I was in heaven!  The dictators were so good and I worked right along and made great money that day and I was thinking YEAH - THIS IS THE WAY TO GO!  Except then I got an email telling me not to do the ERs, because they wanted to save them for the people who couldn't do anything else.    Oh - so because I'm a very experienced, GOOD MT I have to get stuck with the crap and you give the newbie/know-nothing MTs the GOOD dictation?  Um, I don't think so!

And now I see they pay by the 65 space line instead of by gross lines.  Just wouldn't be worth it to me.

I have worked for MQ and Transcend
I cannot recommend either of them. I don't know about Spheris. Good luck. You might make more at a smaller company or hospital. That is what I did.
worked for Transcend

Two years ago, I worked for Transcend.  However, at that time, they seemed to be over-hiring, and I kept running out of work!  Eventually, I went somewhere else, but left on good terms with them that if they ever needed the help, I'd consider going back.  They were actually good to work for, the people are nice, the communication was great.  The only thing was I got ALOT of ESL that were extremely hard (have 13 years working as acute care MT).  Good Luck!

I worked for Transcend, but unfortunately
They were a good company as far as I could tell.  Ditto above, plus they were true to their word and paid better than most I see posted here.  I was on Beyond TXT as well.  They hooked me right up with my specialty that I'm great at, and they answered all of my questions.  Don't know about Sten-Tel.
I really liked Transcend when I worked for them.
it up due to a family emergency.  It went very smooth from the time I was contacted by the recruiter, equipment, and training.  All was going great!  They pay on time.  They paid for training.  Unfortunately, when I contacted the recruiter after a few weeks had passed, the schedule was not one that I had originally signed on for, so therefore, I couldn't take the position.  I highly recommend Transcend!  They were wonderful and so understanding!
I have worked for Transcend for several
months and I think it is okay. My team leader and ROM are both nice. For full time you have to make $900 per pay period. That is not hard to do. I don't know what the benefits are for part time but full time seems pretty good. They also gave a $25 gift card to Walmart for Christmas. That was nice.

Overall, I am happy there. Hope you will be, too.
Since I have worked at Transcend
they've never given a shift differential or weekend differential. You can't cut what doesn't exist.
This is a lot. When I worked for Transcend, I got a whole 0.025 extra for CMT. nm
xx
Would work for JLG before Transcend, having worked at both previously. nm

I worked on that account with a company other than Transcend.
It was the worst. I was glad to see it go. Sorry for whoever got it.
I love Transcend. I've worked for MANY

I've worked for many nationals i.e. Webmedx, MDI-FL, Transcend, etc. and
I like Medquist the best.
Not true. I worked at Transcend for years and things have

For years people at Transcend were very friendly and the only time things got really heated on the forum were over personal opinion posts like politics and stuff.  Not any more.  More and more people are to the point of not knowing what to do with this company anymore.  People who have been there years and years have quit or are quitting, and I think most of the peers that are happy are relatively new and haven't seen the downward spiral.  A friend of mine quit a while ago and said she got a letter about a month after she quit asking her to sign a release saying she wouldn't take Transcend to court or be party to any claims relating to her employment with Transcend.  If things were that hunky dory they wouldn't be so scared that they need to ask people to sign waivers when they leave.

Yes, I have checked into and worked for several companies that use Escription and Transcend has the
best pay..now, they just need more work so if you have steady work, then I'd stay put.
Well that makes sense because had they really ever worked at Transcend that would know the pay rate
for editing has NEVER been 3 cpl. They have paid me more than anyone has EVER offered so that poster (Be Careful) is not a legit person who has worked for Transcend.
I worked for a lady's service who was bought out by Transcend
a few years ago and they offered her a position in the home office. She sold, had the job for a few months and then she was terminated. I know for a fact that Transcend said in a paper article in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution that they outsourced because could not find enough American MTs to do the work. Now what I find surprising is how many complain on here about sitting and waking for work for Transcend. Wonder how that happens?
When Transcend bought the company I worked for we were told they did not do IC, just PT/FT... sm
so this is news to me!  Maybe they allow different things for different companies they buy.  I also understood a little while after the merger that all accounts would move over to their platforms, but now I am reading that maybe not all of them did with other mergers.  I am sorry you all are going through this!  I remember how it was thrown on us so quickly too.
I have worked for MQ, Spheris back when it was Edix, Transcend and OSI. TransTech is by far the bes
The pay is decent, probably not the highest in the business but not the lowest either. The benefits are good. Pay is always on time. Great bonuses. Great communication and most of all I really like the people and it makes me enjoy being an MT again.
Nothing from Transcend, although I heard others got gift cards or at least a card. I've worked th
several years so if it was just a case of being forgotten that is still pretty pathetic. How do you forget your employees, especially when you get junk bulk mail from there regarding nothing that involves you..but at Christmas you were forgotten. Oh well, I have work and for that I am grateful so I'll be nice...
Platforms
DocQScribe is the best platform in my opinion - it's MT friendly (whether the company is ripping lines or not is another, ah, truth).  Really, though, just what were they thinking when they came up with BeyondTXT!  Good Lord!  eScription is good too.
They have many platforms
Some accounts do require a C-phone or a Lanier and others are wav files. I do Radiology but they do have acute care and clinic. They offer FT, PT and IC. They are not as flexible as other companies I have worked for but they do try. I would rank them at the top of my list of companies.

Good luck!
They have 2 platforms, one of which is much better
If it is for the account I think it is for, it is the easy platform with good sound quality. I would look into it further before you make your decision.
Does MDI-FL have other platforms
besides Meditech.  If so, what are they and are they user friendly?
Do you know what platforms they use
for radiology? Pay usually by
line or exam? Dictators?
I believe that they use two platforms. sm
I work on the newer platform (TAe), and Instant Text DOES work with it just fine. =)
Platforms

Hello all. I am the owner of a small (but very busy) transcription service here in the U.S. and am considering purchasing my own transcription platform. I currently lease the platform that my MT's are using. I would appreciate some info from anyone that is working on a web-based, non-FTP, MT friendly platform. I know that most larger transcription companies have proprietary platforms, so I am looking for one that I can purchase ready made. Any help is appreciated!!  Thanks!

May use other platforms, too. sm
Chances are Sten-Tel is the platform you will be using but have known companies that use Sten-Tel that also us other platforms, also. They are telliing you to keep track of your lines using the work count feature found under tools.
They have several different platforms.
I only work on their eScription ones though.
platforms
It seems like anymore each company has their own platform anyway, so I don't think it's a big deal as long as you are a quick learner.
there are several platforms; which one are you on?

Not with platforms but know of a few with FTP. sm
Smaller MTSOs that do clinics and private practices typically have the M-F hours, but they don't often have platforms.
different platforms?
Does Webmedx still give you various platforms to transcribe on depending on the account.
Platforms
So when you say (i think it was Jill?!) you don't work for a company that uses platforms, what do you use? Just email? I am new to this, so bear with me please. Also, what do you do when you want to quit one company and go to another? I would want to give a notice, but isn't that hard, trying to do the 2 jobs at the same time?! Any info is appreciated.
I have 3 different platforms for 3 different
x
That's what I was going to say. Some platforms,
I heard of that with DocQscribe, for instance. But with DQS, you can safely copy & paste from Notepad, which strips out the formatting codes. So I've sometimes C&P'd something from Word into Notepad and then into DQS in order to circumvent the formatting/printing problem.
Can you say which VR platforms are best? sm
I have never done VR but I'm sure I will have to pretty soon, and I would like to know which of the VR platforms are good ones, and which are bad, from someone who has actually done it.
VR platforms
I think EditScript is the best platform I have used for VR. For one thing it seems to be more accurate at picking up dictation (what the doctor is actually saying and not a bunch of garbage) and not picking up asides (like the doctor greeting someone who comes in while he is dictating) Also you almost never have to take your hands off the key board and use the mouse There are short cut keys for everything I have averaged between 300-400 lines an hour and sometimes as much as 500 lines an hour. You can also speed the dictation up to 150% or more and it is not garbled.
Platforms

Are there platforms that consistently:

1)  record a line count that matches what you show your line count to be

and

2)  function with minimal technical issues.

Anyone willing to provide specific and honest input on SoftScript's platform?

There are a few different platforms (see inside)
Here is what I know:

They have a different platforms, depending on what the hospital uses. They also use Beyond Text, which Transcend uses. Personally, I have been on BYT and while I like it, I prefer AIM.

They also have Meditech and Dictaphone text platform.
New To Emdat, Platforms, Etc.
Could someone please give me a brief tutorial on what to expect with national transcription companies? I am familiar with the .wav files, but am not exactly clear on the terms, Emdat and platforms. Is this just the method by which you pick up your dictations? Also, if you have your own Autocorrect/Autotext dictionary, are you able to use that as opposed to the company's? Any advice and information would be very much appreciated. Please E-mail if you can. Thanks!
Platforms are proprietary...
...and based on account. To my knowledge, there are three, distinguished by version number: 3.5, 3.8, and 4.0. This has come about through Spheris acquiring other transcription companies and assimilating their proprietary platforms.

I work on TWS 3.8. It's not bad, but it could be better. The Expanders are crude and it takes some time to build up a good collection of them. It won't correct for capitalization, i.e., changing the first letter of the first word of a sentence to upper-case a LA MS Word and other typical office word processing programs. It can be a bit crashy at times. Still, many people do very well with it, and I can't fault the training provided--though keep in mind, I was trained three years ago. There may have been changes since then.

Hope that helps.
And out of 3 different VR platforms, their BeyondTxt
Bad sound quality, way too many problems.
Junk platforms
Yep, me too.  Walmart, here I come!!! lol.  I think I may do well on the night shift! After all, I'm used to it!!!!!  HEEEE
Anybody know what platforms Keystrokes
uses for radiology?
There are different platforms, but TWS is very slow, even with

Has anyone ever tried using 2 platforms on the same computer?
Unfortunately, my one job is not doing it for line count but I love the account I have now, so I have also secured a second job with another company part time. The problem may be that I have a platform in my computer now for the first company and the other company has a different one to install. I did inform them of the software I am using now and they won't know if it is going to conflict until they do a review. If it won't work, I am going to have to buy another computer, which I have found locally that is being sold for a really good price because of some cabinet scratches. I am also told I can purchase a special switch which allows me to use one keyboard and one monitor for 2 computers, as well as a router for DSL so my Internet connection can also be utilized for both. I am so hoping that I can use just one computer for these jobs, as to save myself about $550, especially since one never knows how a new company is going to work out. Has anyone ever tried this? I would sure appreciate it if you could tell me how it worked for you. I realize different programs may or may not work, but was hoping someone has already had this experience. TAT!
