I am currently head of QA for a company and do everything else as well, hiring, firing, etc., and I am looking for another job because I don't like how they treat the MTs. We are incredibly short staffed because we use outdated equipment and the company won't supply it. We only have 11 people covering every account we have and it's working the good people to death. The other day the office manager contacted one MT telling her she needs to work that day and I told her that was the MTs day off (this particular person had worked 19 days with only one day off) and her response was I don't care, she needs to work. I told them this is the quickest way to run people off. I'm working 7 days a week as well and sometimes I think it would be easier just to actually transcribe, but then there's the problem of finding a good company with a decent rate.

all of you KS pollyannas need to realize that there are people who have had very negative experiences with KS - whether it be the pay, the managers, the work, or with the 666 owner. It is true that there are differences even within companies, and I think at that point it is the owners obligation to streamline things all the way across the board if they want to continue a good reputation. Obviously, someone has done something very wrong at KS - and I think these complaints normally start at the top and then trickle down - we're not all looney-tunes -

find out that they DO ACTUALLY send a lot of their work to them, for cheaper wages, of course!
Consider yourself lucky that you don't run out of work. I work for Ohio office, also, and run out a LOT! They send to India, etc, like I said

The license fee is up to the MTSO. You should not be subsidizing someone else's business. What would do? I would not be in this mess in the first place because I could see it for the SCAM it is. If you are good, you have no need to pay anybody to work for them. If you still need to improve, spend your money on MT education, not on some scamster. Sorry, my friend, but you aren't even getting a kiss from these folks. Leave them.

24-hour time-frame in this day and age of not enough work with turn-arounds of a few hours...I wish 24-hour turn-around. Good luck in your search.

one of my hospital accounts had their radiologists buy a very nice expensive Dictaphone VR program because they saw it in action at the next hospital. Within 30 days --not even kidding-- all the radiology work was done by the docs without even editing by MT's. Took the 3 full time MT's and put them on H&P's. One of the dictators is a stubborn old Indian but too bad, so sad, they made him do it anyway.

platform? I swear I was told this, but can't remember when or by whom.
Also, has anyone ever asked to switch accounts? Are they ever open to this?

maybe this is the start of a wake-up call
IMHO, my objection to CBay is simply part of a bigger picture of the problems in this country. In my gut and my honest opinion, it'll take a while but more American jobs WILL eventually be lost with CBay owning MedQuist.
We don't need to be a country of consumers -- we need to be the producers like we used to be. That is where we had the edge. We are really starting to feel the impact of the work leaving our country big time, as well as our dependence on foreign oil. We had 3 pages of foreclosure notices in our newspaper today. How sad.
In the long run and the big picture, this is very scarey for the future of our country. Many people (absolutely, certainly not everyone) in the Good Ol' USA need to learn how to work hard and take pride in their work again!! Work smarter AND harder. We need to stand up and make our elected officials do what has to be done.
Hopefully we can start to get back there. We have to start fighting back somewhere ... it won't be easy and it won't be PC .. but our country is in trouble. We need to stand up and be heard.
I am gradually getting to buying American-made only. It means I buy less for sure, but, I feel it is important.
And, I personally don't want to work for a foreign-owned entity. JMHO.
If we don't do something as individuals and a nation, we won't be a free country that much longer. Things are just out of balance.

Was I dreaming or did a certain company advertise for ESL MTs at 15 to 20 cpl a week or so ago and
now it's suddenly 9 to 13 cpl? I tried to take their test and one of the questions they asked was what you were making. 
Maybe I was dreaming. I copied the ads I applied to and that one seems to be missing.
