Silent - how many lines required per page
I forgot to ask how many lines are on one page with them.  Are there any suggestions needed to know ahead of time?
Wow! This means 19 pages in 1 hour! One page has 40 lines.
This I will n e v e r , e v e r believe, only if I see it with my very own 2 blue eyes!

LOL !

IC cannot be told I need you to work between 1 and 5 but they can say I need these lines by

Where I work we were told we HAD to get our lines in - sm
So right now many of us have been camping out at the computers fighting for every line we can get.  Not sure I am going to last much longer at this pace.
I was also told I had to complete 8 hours even if I got my lines before that. nm
x
I was told 6000 lines for 2 weeks when I hired
in as an SE 6 weeks ago.

We are told to flex our schedules to get lines/hours in. (sm)

No one is trying to steal work from other shifts, we are just trying to do our jobs.  Obviously it is not our preference to work outside our hours but we all do what we have to do to make this work for right now.

Hopefully new accounts are in place now and things will level out.

Have a better day.

Oh to amend that, the way they were counting lines changed and they told me they could no longer
count gross lines.  I was asking for 0.12 a character count line, whatever and however they come to that.
That's in the "average" ballpark. Some companies are trying to low ball at 3 cpl and less.
Definitely do not take less than that, as sometimes, you end up having to retype a lot of the text and it really is not worth it when your paid 3 cpl. I would never accept less than 4 cpl. Can I ask who offered you a job, maybe I can give you some insight.
I agree, "average" being the operative word here. Most of us are NOT making $500 or more a wee
s
You hit the nail on the head. No "average" joe is going to go to that degree of applauding the
Good call..
Told minimum PT was 3500 lines a week; requires 2 weekend days a month nm

Not at all. Worked for the NJ company. Used to pay by the page or partial page. Don't know about

I transcribed for Compuscribe years ago. Had no problems, just low pay but no problems.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on a page
number to get the most recent archives and then can do Ctrl F and do a search for WebMedX.   I wouldn't call them a small national.

I don't hesitate to ask. Have been told "yes", and have been told "no." Never been to

1800 lines is easily achieved. I average 300-340 lines per hour. nm

10 lines per minute = 1500 lines for 150 minutes - average. nm

I average 1200-1400 lines per day with a national, and am only getting around 600-800 lines per day.
It's been this way since the day before Thanksgiving. I've been doing this for almost 30 years now, and more often than from Thanksgiving until the new year is the slowest time of the year. I have some months where I am swamped with up to 2000 lines per day. I stash that little extra money, and take advantage of a handful of extremely slow days this time of the year to actually cook dinner, decorate for Christmas, or do Christmas shopping. I actually anticipate this slow time every year and have grown to enjoy the breathing time. Any time I have attempted to pick up extra work with another company to supplement these slow times, the minute I get adjusted to the new accounts, etc. I have no time to finish all of my work because my full time job with national gets slammed again. Hang in there if you can, and hopefully your work will pick up significantly around New Years.
They work with you to make sure you get the lines required or the amount of lines you want...
I have never had a problem getting more work
Minimum lines for FT used to be 60,000 keystrokes a day, about 925 lines. Pay was good. Just not a
s
Yes it is possible to double your lines. I cant type 460 lines an hour but I can get those with VR
x
Regular lines, not weighted lines
was what I got paid for....
12K lines payperiod is 6K lines a week.
nm
0.8 x 1000 lines = $80.00 - 0.8 x 1500 lines = $120.

It's not 1600 lines -- it's 16,000 lines...and
I've got my contract right here and have already gotten 2 checks and YES, I am getting 9.5 cpl base rate.

I don't know what other people are getting. Don't really care. I work for MY paycheck. Gosh.
Why would they "fix" lines? The more lines you
transcribe, the more you make, the more you make, the more you make. It wouldn't profit any company to put a lid on line counts.
I don't see that on their web page
nm
Take a look at the next page (sm)
Maybe the people aren't still there, but they're experiences weren't good. Companies don't change that radically. If there are problems like that, it's because of major philosophical problems in the company. If after reading those posts you'd still want to pursue testing with them, well, all I can say is good luck. I'm sure we'll be hearing from you later.
Pay by the page
Is this good or bad? Does anyone have any experience with this type of pay?
Pay by the page
Thank you. It's $2.50 per pay page on a sliding scale. I do not really understand it and that's why I do not really know what questions to ask. Thanks for the input.
per page

To me it there are too many variables to quote a per page rate, font size, margins, etc.  You can have anywhere from 50 to 66 lines for full page depending on margins and font, so at .012 per line, that is quite a difference.  Also what do you do for 20 or 30 lines,  as they could both be half a page?   That is just my opinion though.   Could work in your favor and could not.  If they use a small Arial 10 font, takes a lot more lines to fill up a page than Courier 12.

I Get $2.75 per page
I type for an insurance company doing claim tapes and I charge by the page. It works out well for me. I type in Tahoma 10. Even if a page is just one line long I get paid the full rate.
i see it a little further down on this page

Pay by the page
How on earth do you charge by the page? I have never been paid by the page but only by the line. Luckily, I found the job through the local paper and they will let me work from home (only 5 minutes away). There is a big psychiatric hospital down there street. Thanks for all of your help. I about gave up on transcription.
Pay by the page
I meant there is a big psychiatric hospital down the street from where I live and they usually charge by the page, but I have never charged by the page, but only by the line. Any suggestions?
by the page
The margins per page are 3 inch on the top and 3 inch left margin. Does that make a difference do you think?
Look down the page a little.....

Keystrokes is really popular right now.

you are all over this page
with negative comments about a lot of companies.  Probably not a very good idea to let this recruiter know who you are by e-mailing straight from this site. Just a helpful hint.
pay by page
Does anyone work for a transcription company that pays by the page instead of cents per line?  If so, could you please email me.  Thanks.
Yep and now it's a whole page +2.

On what page are they? If they are there, I will

Further down this page, 1/3 way?, you
will find a message from the recruiter, Carlotta Buckley, with that signature.

I, along with others, have elabored myself on MDI, which is probably on next page now.

It is a great company that will do everything they can to take care of the MT. They have a positive QA team, etc. Personally i think they are the best company around.
Same page
I only wish more people would get on the page with us.  I fail to see  how some people can stick their head so far in the sand.
No I'm not QA and I think we are on the same page. sm
My original post was in regards to Bayou MT's comment that we are not paid to look up doctor's names, unfamiliar names, terminology, etc.

P.S. I've run into the same QA types. The absolute worse was one from YOG. She actually called me on the phone and put me down.
at the top of the page --sm
there is a Google search bar. just beneath that are two buttons, . web and . MT stars. make sure the button by mt stars is checked and then type in the name of the company in question and click the search button beside it. that should bring up new and old postings about the company.
$1.00 a page?
You MUST be kidding!  What an insult!
