    ....and I don't have any intention of mentioning company names. They have the right to conduct business as they see fit and I have the right not to like it. However, I do not have the right to sully their good name. I do hope, that should a company decide to sue people, they remember exactly who they are suing--MTs making X-cpl:) Not like we have a lot to part with!

    You really should get your facts straight before posting such things.  So far, i have been very impressed with the company and how I have been treated.

    Like I said, I was confused by what you were asking for exactly.  I'm sorry if my post came across as snotty or critical.  It's great that you want your people to make more money.  However, my experience has been that VR or SR (speech or voice recognition) cuts into MT paychecks and increases income for the MTSO.  The reason being that editors aren't paid as much per line to edit as MTs are paid to type.  It's just not economically feasible because nationals are still trying to give the best price to the clients just to keep the work from going overseas.  BTW, if you mention voice/speech recognition to your employees, be prepared for them to think you're trying to cut wages or positions, too.


    I've used Dragon myself with my own accounts, but it was faster for me to type with Expanders than it was for me to edit and "train" the software program to each dictator's voice.  Maybe in the long run, it might have been better for me but my clients needed their work ASAP without fooling around with experimental software.  I know of some people who redictate the dictation into Dragon, but that was too time consuming for me as well.  I'm not sure how the bigger nationals train their VR systems.  Maybe you could find some distributors of S/VR for a demonstration?

    the company they work for and insist that it's the best thing and that everyone else is crazy for not liking said company.  Things can go sour in weeks.  The poster who quit was all over these boards ad nauseum about how FANTASTIC TT was and now look.

    The job posting for 0.035/line should be removed from the site as a gross insult for the profession, though I feel that the 8 and 8.5 cents most companies pay now is also an insult!  Too many MTSOs and mom/pop shops trying to take advantage of the newbies who don't know any better.

    They say to please flex your time when work is low.  Then they send out emails when things pick up and tell us we MUST be on NOW if we are short lines/hours.  Yes, my life revolves around you TT!  I love sitting at my computer 12 hours a day every day to accommodate YOU!  arrggghhh.

    You have a new job and nobody is interested in getting you started working. Somebody below has been waiting since DECEMBER? They are IGNORING YOU??? You have receipts that they are receiving your emails and IGNORING YOU, and you wonder if you should be concerned and others like you are sitting around waiting. ARE YOU CRAZY? And you are asking the public if you should be concerned? You are asking STRANGERS if you should be concerned that you have a new job that basically you don't have.  This is just pure insanity and again workers like you, or nonworkers really, are what perpetuates the abuse we all receive from MTSOs.  How insane is it to start a job and have no work?  Would you start your first day at McDonald's and just stand there in the middle of the room if nobody helped you get started? NO. You'd get help from someone there, or you'd walk out.  Why in the world you sit here in cyberland and wait is so beyond my realm of imagining that I just can't comprehend it.  If you take this abuse, you deserve nothing.  Its that pure and simple. Its ludicrous and its embarrassing even reading about it. Sorry.

The truth is that the owner works 7 days a week, more than 8 hours most days. That's why we all have enough work to keep us busy and why our benefits keep increasing and why we do not have pay cuts.     This is the 2nd week in a row of technical issues on the client's end vs issues on our end, with the MTs caught in the middle, having to twiddle their thumbs during their scheduled shift, then give up their scheduled days off and work like mad playing catchup.  I guess I just want to vent and commiserate.  Anybody else in my boat?


    I do all that for my animals and people call me nuts!

    It just depends on what your priorities are I guess.  Some people do that for kids, animals, a house, a car...if it makes you happy--go for it!  That whole life it too short and all...
