I do not believe it is slowly becoming
a requirement. That is the spin the AAMT is peddling, but docs and hospitals are interested in getting their work done accurately much more than they are in what initials are behind a person's name. Interestingly, one of the former big machers of AAMT from the 90s had no impressive academic credentials but she put every conceivable initial from various organizations to which she belonged behind her name. We all joked about it and called her Alphabet Soup because of all the letters behind her name. In actuality, it was pathetic. There is an old proverb in German that goes EMPTY HEADS ARE FOND OF LONG TITLES. Nuff said.

REad slowly this time, okay?
Like I posted, I realize that not all in-house hospital jobs are the same.. . . . . . waiting for it to digest - hello?? So, again, you purport to have the position that because where you worked, they didn't have ALL the specialties, we are liars? First of all, not every MT at every hospital will have exposure to all specialties - it's impossible. We are speaking to the more common specialties - my goodness! I certainly wouldn't consider myself an expert in dentistry but did do consultations many times from them consulting - geez!
that should read...slowly accruing PTO time
Sounds like they are slowly awakening to the boondoggle
that VR can cause. I wonder where all the good MTs will be when they all realize it.
