I have heard of their wonderful reputation and I realize that when one is an IC, one must take the slow times in stride.

I'm curious- what makes you think any of those "rude" postings
are from a recruiter? It seems to me that wouldn't be the best way to recruit people, would it? What makes you so sure that poster is even an employee of SS and not a disgruntled ex-employee? You are all anonoymous, typing back and forth to each other in your own liitle unimportant world. You have no idea who types on here, where they are from, what they do, or where they live. Don't you get it? Anyone can come on and say anything about anybody since there is very little monitoring of the post- oh, an occasional deletion here and there, but overall nothing. Here, let me give you an example: I've heard that company Q overcharges their medical benefits and pcokets the difference. They do this sometimes just to make payroll! they've also terminated a couple of their sales people in order not to pay the comissions on their sales. See how easy that was? You all really need to get a life outside of the internet, smell some fresh air, take a walk around your neighborhood.

My sis is MT and I was reading these posts on her computer. I don't understand why these people tolerate the working conditions of Mt industry. Could someone tell me. I work for local government and no one is treated this way. I would like to know why you are wlling to be harassed and nickel and dimed to death. Why not get a job where you work, you are paid, and you have a life instead of struggling and struggling. This way of working went out with labor laws, etc. Best wishes.

A few weeks ago I posted about not being paid at T.S.I and I thought I was the only one who was not receiving my pay. Since that time I am absolutely shocked at how many MTs work their fingers to the bone and then come here and post that they have not been paid. I cannot believe it. One company after another. What in the world are these companies thinking?? I truly believe you get in life what you put into it and if these people continue to take advantage of us then they will get it right back in some way.
I'm so sorry that you are not getting paid. I'm so sorry for my fellow TSI people who did not get paid and for everyone else. I hope J.M. has a nice christmas with our money and her grandkids (especially that one that is always sick-so sick in fact that she couldnt send our pay....yeah right) have everything they wished for. My family will have a nice christmas despite the fact that J.M. stole from me. We decided to emphasize what christmas is all about-a loving family. We will open our gifts and play games and laugh and make memories.

When I worked there I noticed that the whole office was like that--that is how they communicate--I wrote it off to being a Pennsylvania thing because I have never come across that kind of an attitude since. Then again, I'm from the southern part of the US, so something like rudeness really stood out to me when I was with them. My experience wasn't pleasant aside from the rude office staff and it probably was the worst service I've ever worked for.

form of letters to the press. Ask the people of your community if they are aware that their medical records may be in India, or elsewhere, at this very moment. Make the public aware that their SS numbers, phone numbers, home addresses, and very personal information may be on a computer offshore at this very moment. Educate your community! In conversations with many people, even those just in my neighborhood, as we exchange comments about our professions, when I inform them of the possibility that their medical facility may be offshoring depending on the transcription service they use, their eyebrows become raised and they are shocked. Most people are not aware of where their medical records that contain very private or delicate information are being sent. We all need to act in some way. I personally, would not go to a medical facility where my MR is offshored! I ask first! People do have the power! MT Smith, GO TO WASHINGTON!!!!
People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check

I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances. It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company. They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!! Never seen anything like it before.
Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people

at Medquist. I've checked out other companies but I liked MQ the best (I kept working at MQ while testing other companies).

to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.
More people will come into VR because the qualifcations to do MT are not the same. Lots of people w
to work at home. It's all relative to what you are used to. The nationals are counting on this. I think MTs will work cheaper rather than reenter the work force with no other skills than MT. The nationals are counting on this.

need to keep from naming names. I thought it was an informative bit of information, but when you name names, then posts are way out of line.
I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company. I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people. If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession. When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl. If it were me being talked about, I would be livid. I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.

So many trashing MQ before they've read the new information. If you're that unhappy why do you stay? Why not leave before the packet arrives? Why not quit kvetching and moaning and go find someone whose practices and pay rates you find satisfactory.
How many of you are MTs with less than "perfect" skills and yet MQ keeps you on? How many of you work the required hours? How many of you do what is expected of YOU as an MT? My guess, having spent many years as an MTSO, is that many of those complaining are the ones not meeting the requirements of being a PROFESSIONAL MT.
Give MQ the benefit of the doubt. I've known this company since its inception in the 1970s and believe me, the packet is a good thing for MTs, for the MT industry, and for PROFESSIONAL transcriptionists who want to continue doing professional work.

I have Verizon Freedom. I told them exactly what I would be using it fr and they said no problem, unlimited. I hope they don't call me out on it.
MDI-MD MTs - I'm curious whether you use
another expander? And if you use Bayscribe, do you use the Quick Bar? I keep going back and forth. I have ShortHand and Smartype of my own. I've tried all different combinations of using them and can't seem to find the right combination. What I like about Shorthand is that a box pops up to tell me/remind me what is going to play out when I put in a certain shortcut. The Bayscribe Expander doesn't, unless you are using the Quickbar. But then when I use the Quickbar I have trouble with it expanding stuff I don't intend to expand, especially when I putting in the header stuff. But a plus for Quickbar is that is expands instantaneously and I have found Shorthand to hesitate slightly and sometimes by that time I have gone on typing and it will do weird things like capiltalize a letter in the middle if I have pushed the caps key or whatever as I continue typing.
What works for the rest of you?

Didn't the administrator ask OSi to confirm that they were offshoring before making a decision about banning from the board? Of course we all know they didn't get the truth, but I do think they asked them directly. If a co. is going to put ads on this board, don't they owe it to the adm. to be truthful? And I really think they would be. But my biggest question is why some of you people on here just persist on bullying people when they ask questions. It's ridiculous and childish.

Yes, the subjects are similar and forgive me if this second post bothered you. My first message was directed at how to ensure I could get my first job back within the MT department where I previously worked. In this second message I was questioning whether national employers might hire me if I wasn't accepted back into my department. I was concerned how my two-year lapse working would be received by the national companies as I'm sure the dates will be verified by my employer.

What do you have to lose about communicating openly and honestly with your manager? The worst they can say is No, I need you to stay on X accts. If you say look, I'd be more productive on 1 primary - or whatever your magic number- although happy to help with other accounts, maybe they'll say Sure.
All you can do is ask. I asked for 3 primaries and 2 backups at my employer (Webmedx) and my manager was happy to do it for me.

I really couldn't care less about the insurance. I was just curious as to how much it was in case I ever do decide to sign up for it. I don't even get the insurance where I work now as I don't need it. I just asked out of sheer curiosity.
