Seemed really low to me, on the incentives. Maybe 1 cent per line for a lot of lines.

7 cent a line $8.75 hr (1000 lines 8 hr=$70) TERRIBLE nm
.
Incentives? What incentives? Lucky I can get the minimum lines.
nm
What? 1/2 cent per line? Do you mean
0.05, which is 5 cents?

Any body hear of a company in MA that is hiring editors for 3 cent a line? sm

I asking for someone else, the email was signed Jay

Got offered 1.5 cent/line this past week....she said her editors tell her they make good $$....
.
Not even with incentives are you making .12 a line
It is impossible to make .16 a line at Transcend. Typing more than the max incentive of 23,000 lines per pay period will only add 1.5 cents per line.
how does line incentives work?

If your company says they will pay .01 over 2000 lines daily, does that mean if you type 2100 lines you get the extra .01 for ALL lines or just the 100 you went over?

Line requirements, production incentives

Spheris line rates & incentives
Some employees at Spheris are now being told that production and QA incentives will be eliminated. The line rate is variable, but in general, the very least you will accept. This used to be a wonderful company. Very little concern now for either employees, quality of work, or serving best interests of clients. Many are leaving.
Bummed!!! Apparently the MDI-FL side doesnt get incentives. It seems like the benefits/incentives
would apply to everyone. Oh well, wouldnt be the first time.
Then company should set line count per day with incentives for above that. If get line count done
:[
Spaces are not taken into account with gross lines....a line is a line...sm

if there seven words on a line.

or two

one

or a full line of typing...all of the companies that I have worked for define a gross line as 1 inch margins, 12 pt courier font....does not matter what we type in margins or font.....we convert all reports to the 1 inch margins and courier 12 font and then count the lines.  not the blank spaces between the lines.

Hope this helps.

Gross lines unless it is a line of 72+
characters or more, then you can really get cheated. Once company that has someone plugging for them on MTChat pays gross lines, but those lines are up to 84-104 characters in some parts of the report, so you really get taken to the cleaners with the gross count.
3 cents per line up to 2000 lines per day
and then an incentive but still diddly for QA pay
I agree, but it is what it is.....the companies don't care about anything but TAT and lines, line
Unfortunately, it all boils down to the bottom line, money.

I believe a "thank you" is warranted in many cases, but don't hold your breath for one.

It is sad, very sad.
even if you are only doing 1400 lines a day at 8 cents a line that is still $15 an hour...

How many jobs are you going to get outside of the home making $15 an hour, especially in this economy and most parts of the country?  That is only 175 lines an hour and most nationals expect at least 150 an hour, so that is not that much of a push.  If you do 200 lines an hour, or 1600 lines a day, look at the raise and that is $16 an hour.  This is also only making 8 cents a line, which by the time you are making over 1300 lines a day you probably are getting some sort of incentive, at least a lot of companies you do, and that would push this number up even more.

I used to be a graphic designer for many years and to this day pay for a good designer is only $12 to $14 an hour and you have to commute to the job, so how is it not realistic to make this type of money.  I do not see where your logic is and if you are making so bad then maybe it is time to re-look at your profession and find something that is more a fit to you and make the money you deserve.  I just do not see how making a minimum of $14 an hour is so unrealistic.  Geez.

You know, I never actually counted my lines myself, I just always figured my company's line count
Boy was I wrong!  I just went through and totaled all of my lines, then compared them to the line counter, and guess what!  It's wrong!  Can you guess who I work for?  SOFTSCRIPT!!!
Sometimes a gross line can equate to more than 65 counted character lines
I know one company whose lines are in very tiny font with very wide margins. The line length for those gross lines is 104-120 characters. This is almost double a 65 counted character line.

You can make a comparison of which is better by making a copy of your report (use cut/paste or lift into an expander, then copy into blank document) and run it thru a line count program set at 65.

Your definition of gross line is correct, but your equating it to pay is only good if the line length for gross lines is maximum 65 characters. MTSOs are learning how to make this gross line sound wonderful but in reality are robbing you blind.
They use DocQScribe software, like MQ, that a lot of us say eats your lines and gives a lousy line

I thought someone posted on here about 75 char line, and can't check lines...nm

High line rate versus possible lines per hour....

I'd like your opinions...  I think it's more important to be able to produce a high line count than what your actual cents per line rate is.  $0.10/line means nothing to me if I have to struggle to produce 200 lines per hour because of their format or platform.  I'd rather make $0.07/line if I can count on producing 500 lines per hour.

Just something to think about when you interview with a potential employer who tries to dazzle you with a high line rate.  I always ask about the average line counts and if they have auto-populated headings.  We don't get paid for auto-populated headings (which can make a significant difference in our line counts), yet I'm sure the service bills the hospital for them.

Low line counts - difficult to make 1200 lines in 8 hours. sm
25 years of experience as an Acute Care MT and I had a difficult time getting 200 lph with Bayscribe. Any other accounts with other companies, I could easily transcribe 350-400 lph. Not at MDI - very difficult. I loved the account, but again it was difficult to get a decent line count.

It doesn't matter if you pay me 11 cpl if I can't get a decent line count. Couldn't take the 3 x day e-mails either.
Bayscribe stinks!
I got the 9 cent
I very rarely come to these boards because I don't have time to listen or read all the whining but I have to put in my 2 cents here. I am one of those MTs who was upped to my higher line rate from my old company. Yes they asked me for verification of my line rate and I gave them my check stub that showed the lines I made and the line rate.

As I said, just my 2 cents. I love working for this company, everyone is very helpful and extremely professional.
one-half cent
nm
...Sorry..would be at .01 cent per word..don't know if you need
s
actually it was more like 1/4 cent when I worked there..
z
That's 1/4 cent more than you get at Transcend!

Just my 2-cent thoughts of IC

I don't think that companies who give you a pool to work from should consider this an IC position on any level since the MT has no control over how many doctors need to be learned at one time.  How many other independent contractor job types do you know who would have to learn that many new 'skills' to complete a job?

Obviously a pet peeve of mine..If I am working as an IC, I should be able to determine how many I would/could learn and still stand a chance of getting the work or keeping the work.  It doesn't work that way though.  If you aren't willing to learn 30 different dictators, in 10 different fields, well, move along little doggie.

If I was offering 4 cents, I'd keep going but 2 is enough.

The companies that pay by the word don't even pay 1 cent

no message

i just turned down 4-cent offer, too

Of course, someone else will do it.  They always will.  But it won't be ME.

Stick to your guns, Gals.

Oh good grief. A half a cent here or there does
not make you go from barely scraping by to RICH. It helps, but it's not that big of a difference. It's just incentive/bonus. Please get a grip.
My 1 cent (keeping it low so opinion doesn't get offshored).
I agree with a lot of the other people. I will say, though, that I would be A-OK just working on Word since I'm assuming getting a the DocQScribe set up for a bunch of people might be cost prohibitive, at least at first.

Also, since you are talking hospital transcription, that is going to mean 7 day a week coverage. If the need arises, I would rather see rotating weekend coverage rather than requiring everybody to work every weekend.

Also, while cross-training is great for vacations, sick days, heavy work, it would be terrific to be able to get an account and not have to chase the work across 6 different accounts in a crazy MT version of musical chairs. I guess that would mean not over-hiring.

It may be unpopular, and it's probably easy for me to say because I've been at this for so long, but since we don't really establish seniority at a company, I would love to see some sort of reward for years on the job. I think I bring more to the table than someone with 2 years, and it would be great to be rewarded for that.

I'm sure I'll think of more...it's been so long since anybody asked what could make my job great that I had given up even thinking about it!
9 months and it is not worth staying a year to get the BIG .002 cent raise.
Working for OSi will burn you out quick!
ANON, you're such a loser for posting your 2 cent goodbye!

Transcription Relief Services pays an extra cent for CMT status

It's longer than the "standard" 65-char. line so will take you longer to make those lines!

ARE THEIR INCENTIVES
IF SO, WHAT ARE THE RATES?
What about incentives? Are there any at all? nm
.
How is pay at KS? Incentives? nm

Incentives - who has them?
I've read a couple of posts where MTs mention incentives, goals, bonuses and I'm interested in finding out which companies actually reward or motivate MTs to do more than just the minimum required, aside from just getting more lines. Thanks!
TT incentives
Does anybody know how TTs incentive tiers work? I know that if you type 13,000 lines, you get 0.25 cents more for the entire 13,000, and if you do 20,000 lines, you get a penny more, but what are the in between amounts?
incentives
I have seen accounts that run incentives based on minutes of dictation, but they also do it on number of reports done or lines typed. Just depends on the account I guess.

Don't be afraid to ask for a backup account, by the way. Some accounts have lots of work.
incentives
AND if you maintain under 10% QA another 0.25 cpl back to the first line!!!!  They also have a great benefits package.
Pay better than most, no incentives, but
lots of OT available, 6 pd vacation days, a week PTO, get paid for down time, though there hasn't been any of that lately thankfully.   They provide all equip/software.  $500 sign-on bonus, $500 every year on anniversary.  QA fairly strict, minimum score 98.5.
10cpl plus incentives
I have 13 yrs exp and with MQ I am getting 10cpl plus incentives but before my office closed, raises were given out all the time, all you had to do was asked. We were never given a yearly review, I learned that by calling every year, that was the way that I got a raise.-HMMM-maybe that is why my office was one of the ones to close
FOCUS INCENTIVES
Just found out after much prodding and after seeing a recruitment ad for Focus that they have put an incentive plan in effect for some employees and not others. Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware.
Focus incentives
Well, a while back I saw an ad from Focus trying to hire new MTs. It stated there were incentives being offered. I have worked for Focus for 9 months, no incentives, work weekends, eves, and holidays, too. Emailed office and asked. Was told they were discussing this. Kept prodding and emailing and find out tonight via email the MTs working on Netcare only will get incentives. Not sure what they will be or even have been.
MQ incentives/bonus SM

I was told the following:

$1,000 bonus after three months....have to meet standards (full time, 12,000 lines per pay).

$1,000 after three more months, same as above

Lines are 65 characters including spaces

14-18,000 lines in two weeks = .5 cpl bonus

18,001 -20,000 lines in two weeks = 1 cpl bonus

23,000+ lines in two weeks = 1.5 cpl bonus

Also...after 15,000 lines I get .5 cpl retroactively added to my original line count pay of 8 cpl.

Also...$50 bonus for anything over 20,000 lines

Let's hope this is all true...I'm not quitting my other job yet for them due to all of the bad press, I'll work two, the money will be nice for X-mas.

Spheris incentives?

Does anyone know if Spheris offers any incentives/bonuses?  Do they pay for spaces, headers and footers?  What is their base line rate range?

TIA!!

MDI incentives/holidays
Unfortunately there is no holiday pay/weekend pay. There are sometimes incentives offered when accounts get behind.
Incentives? Anyone who works there getting them?
I just read the ad and saw that they offer production-based incentives? I've worked there for a little while, and I have yet to hear anything about this. Does anyone get them? If so, what are they?
