Sales tactics

I think that *more benefits to come* is a downright sales tactic, not accurate or truthful, but not necessarily illegal, just immoral.  My opinion is that there are few real benefits, if any.  As a matter of fact, I hear that their newest plans include much more strict and frequent QA/QC evaluations, leading to the possibility of being deactivated; in other words, fired, if the highest level of perfection is not achieved and maintained daily.  In my opinion, Focus is not a company that respects or values its MTs as anything other than commodities to be manipulated to its benefit.  However, I am certain that Focus Infomatics is not the only MTSO in existence with these same standards of operation.  It's all about what they can do, what the majority of their workers allow.  Obviously, if zero MTs agreed to perform under such tactics, the company would not survive.  Right?

Unfortunately, I have to agree that her e-mails and tactics are quite....
unprofessional and annoying.
bait and switch tactics

in addition to all negative reports from other posters.  I would say don't, unless you can afford to gamble that all the posters were indeed crackpots as the recruiter will tell you. Good luck whatever choice you make.

Understand this, but their tactics are my question and platform/pay..
Info please.
I think your thinking of the tactics used by Focus Infomatics, Alphamed, On-Point etc..you know..the
low, low payers.
charging sales tax
Does anyone know if you have to charge sales tax in Ohio to the physician offices or if you need a vendor's license to do transcription in Ohio? Can't seem to get a straight answer from any Ohio department.
My husband is in sales...sm
He is in sales, plus makes an hourly rate. He is considered full-time and the healthcare takes a chunk from his pay, but is well worth it for our family of four with two children under 12 years of age. I'm so glad he gets commission checks once a month. Before this though, I was the breadwinner working a full-time job plus 3-5 extras at home, he was taking care of the kids and working part-time. This arrangement we currently have works out great as I'm home all of the time, but sometimes I do get lonely. I love this message board!
Hmmm, I pay 6% sales tax here and
am wondering whether I will come out better taking say at least 15% each paycheck or being their employee. Questions, questions. My goodness!
Umm, sales tax is different from income tax
sales tax is a tax added onto goods sold.  Income tax, Social Security, Self-Employment tax is different from sales tax.
My husband is in sales. He also
It's not just MT.  He has to sell 30% more of the product and also his contribution towards health benefits went up $160.00 per month.  We are a family of four.  There is no forum for flooring retail that I know of, so we just grin and bear it.  There is really nothing we can do.  This economy is tough.  But what I decided to do instead of worrying about the economy is just take a bit more work and work just a bit harder.  I was just so elated that they did not lay him off.  I guess I tend to look at things a little different.  Yes, it is hard on him to convince people to buy when the economy is bad, but somehow, some way, since he's really great at what he does, he's been doing rather well regardless of the paycut and extra putting out.  We've managed.
did you mean to say state income tax instead of sales tax?
taxes for the people who live in those states. I believe all other states require income tax to be withheld for the state it is earned in IF the employer meets the qualifications of the employee's state of residence.

Another good reason to ask a tax specialist.
They must have an amazing sales team!
I wanted to hear their pitch on how it was better to outsource to India rather than use a U.S. company. The sales team knew very well that the MT quality was poor. In fact, U.S. editors would receive phone calls from some of the sales team and they would 'scold' the editors and put the pressure on us. They were eventually told not to do that as some editors were very uncomfortable receiving personal phone calls from the sales team. Not a fun working environment at all.
I found web address for that sales job

Here is the website for that On-Call place that is looking for a transcription service sales person.  I only found it by googling the street address.

Sure is! But the other (sales) job might be a nice change for somebody. (nm)

Obviously the head of Sales isn't familiar with MT QA, either. nm

Not what the sales guy for EMDAT told me.
He said mine wouldn't work. I also use mine for eScription stuff so I don't what to screw it up for that. I just ordered a USB one. Thanks though!
But still, sales tax has not bearing on State tax or Income Tax. Big difference! nm
