Sadly, they gave up on quality a long

The original CEO said in a meeting one time that the doctors won't care if a report has a few mistakes in it as long as it is back on time. That was a big red flag to me. Apparently it has come to be that way.

They don't keep an MT on long if the quality isn't up to speed. nm
Keep in mind, as with any company, the negative posts are often from MTs who were let go by that company.
I once gave my notice when I was in a non-MT position, gave
2 weeks, but the person I was supposed to train felt like she knew my job better than I did (although she knew squat) and was a pain to deal with, never on time, etc. so I only worked about a week of my notice before I left and told the person I was supposed to train that since she knew more than I did have at it. Anyway the owner wouldn't pay me for vacation. I filed a complaint with the labor board and they were more than happy to get my money for me.
Breitner can threaten all they want to. If you can document that you are owed monies, if Breitner can't prove that you aren't owed monies the labor board will be glad to collect your money. I would also file a complaint with the Attorney General . I have heard several people have had payment issues with them while the still worked for them. If people are willing to let them get away with it by just chalking it up to experience, then they will continue to try to get away with it. I'd contact the IRS too. I don't know what Breitner thinks they can do to you - let them threaten all they want to. A word of advice - DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT.
They offshore, sound quality not great, quality
of work coming back from India is bad and they don't pay enough for editing it.
you spelled quality qualitily maybe that is why you have quality issues.
Sorry, but even spell check misses stuff. You have to at least be able to spell to do this job. Well, you don't have to know English if you are Indian, but us Americans have to spell!
Sadly...no.
Sounds like I may have to go back to the old way and type it all.
Sadly it seems
I think this has been brought up before in previous posts, and correct me/forgive me if I am wrong, but as an IC,you should be able to set your own schedule -- its a catch 22 though, because we have to remember in this business that hospitals NEVER close, therefore, the companies do need weekend coverage and coverage into the wee hours of the morning as well. The main service that I work for just asks their MTs to do a committment of between 400-500 lines on Saturday and Sunday and they offer a weekend bonus as well. For those of you that have children activity committments on the weekends or other things, maybe you could talk to your employer about doing a split shift of sorts. Sorry for the long post
Sadly, you are exactly right.
Time was when a good MT could pretty much write her own ticket. Alas, those days are LONG gone. I'm just hoping to eke out some kind of a living until I can retire.
Sadly, none are the best - still trying to find it myself. nm

Sadly yes :( - what info do you need? - nm
sss
You are sadly misinformed. sm
AAMT is certifying OFFSHORE MTs and allowing them to join the organization, thus, the name AMERICAN needs to be removed from the name. Anyone in this industry who does not understand and acknowledge the negative impacting offshoring has had on our profession has their head in the sand.
Sadly it seems more and more that the better companies...
expect ICs to sign on with the commitment to work a Tues - Sat or Sun - Th. Does that seem flexible to you? Personally I think it's unrealistic to expect a person to want to work either every Sat. or Sun. I couldn't do it if I wanted to. Soccer on Sat. and church on Sun. It's tough.
DEVENTURE IS NOT UNIQUE, SADLY.
I never worked for Deventure. But, I did apply there. During the application process, there were red flags that alerted me to the fact that I did not want to work for them. It seemed to me that they were either extremely disorganized or downright dishonest. Sadly, I don't think they are unique. I've had similar experiences with many other companies during my search for the best job, which still has not been found.
But, you know what? I've also observed that many of these companies totally rely on the fact that they can manipulate MTs to the Nth degree. What was that word of wisdom that was once spoken by one of my favorite TV psychologists? You teach people how to treat you. Never was this as true as it is in the MT work world. Of course, you can go bankrupt while searching for those who will treat you as a human being and not expect you to perform as a tireless, inhuman robot.
Even if Deventure WINS this case, I praise the lady who is allowing her case to be heard.
I do skip over them because sadly it is the same thing.
Wrong line count and no work. It is just hard because once it gets going it takes over the whole page and it is hard to find anything else someone has posted. I have nothing against TT or its MTs, it just seems like they have some legitimate concerns and they want to be heard. I figured we just must have a lot of TT employees on here and they should be able to discuss things in their own forum.
Not fair, but sadly how most places work
nm
Sadly, its one of the oldest tricks in this business.
Always has happened to me, whatever mode of delivery for the work. In the days of tapes, I would get double or triple what I requested. Now its the same thing, thus why I don't take any jobs on the side now. I would always, always ask for a minimum amount of work, which the owner gladly agreed to, only to be bombed. Then the whole guilt game would start...Not for me anymore! Its so counterproductive in the long run - makes us resentful, right? Why not just give the MTs what they agreed to, right? Oh well!
Another thing.. sadly, at 5 cpl, I think I am on the high end of what is being paid.
I cant tell you how many companies with ES offered me like 2-3 cpl..and to that I had to respond GET REAL!!!
With respect, the real irony sadly is
that if you've followed these boards for at least 2 years, you already had an idea of what was going to happen. Several MTs made an effort here to warn as many as possible about the future loss of jobs. Many of the posts were ultimately deleted. I agree there is nothing gained from rehashing the past other than we must learn from it.
QT made a business decision. They built a company, made a profit, saw more/better/different profit elsewhere, designed a plan to get from point A to point B and moved on - happens every day in the business world. From all appearances, they did everything right for a while - had they not, there would not be this group of really great MTs struggling to deal with the loss of a job and the stress of starting anew. QT had an option - they could let their dedicated MTs know what was going to happen and ask them to ride things out as long as possible or they could just squeeze every last drop from each MT and each account. Too bad for the MTs but, after all, it's only business. If there were lies, deception, half-truths, etc., this too is a part of the profit/loss bottom line.
The real irony - and this is public knowledge - is that former QT owners have started new businesses and are bragging far and wide (see internet blogging) about their new employees.
Of course, finding a new scrapbooking job will probably be a little easier than finding and securing a new MT account.
You think?
I have a prediction (purely for entertainment purposes, of course) - Profits will not sustain the new venture/old lifestyle for very long and that within, oh 24 months or so, there will be a foot dipped into a new MT venture, since the old one was soooo profitable, and old habits are hard to break.
Sadly, most newer computers do not have the 9-pin port.
I have had to buy USB adapter to which some do and do not work correctly with this footpedal. Is this by chance an Escription account? Thus far, this is the only software that I have found which requires such an obsolete port. I bought a laptop assuming it would have the 9-pin port but it did not so I tried at least four adapter until I found one that works.
Sadly, I make $300 too much to get Food Stamps
I was going to bite the bullet and get them. So obviously I'm overpaid. Time to switch companies.
I agree. Sadly, it is absolutely true, nm
.
Sadly (or not, lol) UP. Gonna make more, gotta

Sadly, it is ALL the employees of this one particular account and we have no backup accts.
Apparently, the hospital obviously wants the work first to go to the employees and we get whatever is left, which is slim to none some days. Very frustrating.
Quality is quality, and really should have nothing to do with getting new accounts.
MQ isn't scheming against the MTs regarding QA. They just want a quality finished product. Heck, half the slams on this board about MQ are the garbage work the MTs put out. Talk about a no win situation! Getting used to a new account should not lower your quality by any real degree if you are a good MT. Even getting used to new dictators or ESLs. Good MTs still produce quality work, and should not have to fret over QA.
No problem :) No matter how long, it is too long for me - I am broke the day after payday. Kids wi
do that to you!
I know that they have worked very hard to make sure that checks are never late and I can say that in the past two years, I have had one problem (2 days late) and in the past 18 months, they have all been on payday and perfect.
I know that there are a lot of hard feelings in MT in general. I also know firsthand (and I am not mgmt) how hard KS has worked to get things going good.
I would not want to walk in an MTSO's shoes for any amount of money, but that's just me. I like to finish my work for the day, forget about work when not working and get paid on payday. I never want the other things that go with mgmt or owning a company of any kind :)
They definitely rip you off with your line count. Figured this out long ago and quit long ago
x
What really sucks is that I looked for a LONG, long time -sm
before joining DRC - wanted a highly reputable, not-too-big co. that was LOCAL, and that treated its MTs humanely. I'm very happy with DRC & had planned to stay with them permanently.
Appreciate those of you that gave
helpful responses
Well you just gave yourself away on who you are.
You really need to try and hold it in
Yep but many of us gave above and beyond for that
company and to be lied to and treated like we were in the end is a disgrace. If you're happy good for up, but with their ethics I wouldn't work for them again.
You are not alone. Me, I gave up. nm.

before they gave my job away to
India last year, I was in-house, hourly, but we had to justify time-loss the last 5 or 6 years because people were always coming in, even at night when I was alone, and interrupting your work flow. I will say we had a service helping, and everybody was first-in, first-out, except for x-rays and path, so we all got our share of horribles to contend with.
Me too. But, I gave up. Although I got
responses back from my resume and or testing they were interested (several), never heard back from any so I just increased workload to help on weekends at regular IC job. Oh, well. Guess they got busy with so many resumes, or the scare of the economic down-turn. Hope you all hear back. It is tough to wait for an interview, because bill collectors do not understand about these things LOL.
I gave them my notice. I was looking
for a job when I found them so I'm not worried. Good luck to you. You might need it.
I gave MQ a set schedule as an SE but
I have the power to change it myself. I simply call (and followup with an email, always) and let them know as soon as I can that I will not be working. I always try to tell them when I will be making that time up or what my alternative plans are. I haven't had any problem.
I don't have a problem with them having a schedule to know when I am expecting to work routinely but I don't have to get approval or get someone saying, "Gee, I wish you wouldn't take off tomorow." I just make my own decision.
I almost gave up the first year--
I was lucky if I made $10,000 that first year. I worked for a small company with low pay and not much work, but they were willing to train a newbie. Now I make $30,000-35,000 and I'm happy with that.
hey, the OP gave her a little info but she can't take the
lol
Went through the same thing and gave up. nm
nm
She gave up too easily IMO.
You can get into the system and see the dictator's other reports. When doing a discharge or consult you can check the H&P. You build your normals for the difficult ones. It takes some time, but it's just the usual groundwork in my experience. These ESLs are quite doable compared to one account I had to do now and then with a different service. And what you can't figure out, you blank. More than 3 blanks and it goes to QA. Not your problem after that. The QA people are great and very complimentary of my work. Makes me feel very good to have them reply that yes, that one was tough! We laugh over what VR would do with those dictators. People can only get good with ESLs if they persist at learning them.
I think the reason you gave for becoming
a transcriptionist, as you put it, probably becoming a Transcriptionist in the first place to stay at home so you would not have to pay for childcare sucks. I got into it because I love medical, did not work from home at first, earned that right. You gave very poor reason as far as I can see.
I also gave up my CMT status
and dropped my AAMT membership a few years ago when I saw in the JAAMT the list of new CMTs had many more from India than from the U.S., and I totally agree with you.
when they gave away my in-house, I
finally got a holiday off. I have worked them for so long, everybody quit even inviting me anywhere. This is the first time I have had Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years, mother's day, off in 21 years. Mostly just got one or two a year.
I gave up too. I got another account with
Keystrokes which is a lot better, but not much work. I think I'll try the DocQScribe account again. Both of these accounts run out of work frequently, almost every day.
I already gave them Spheris's name.
I think what they are looking for besides the names of the companies are the stories of how the outsourcing has affected us financially, hardship wise.
I also told them everything you read the Medical field is NOT being affected by the recession....but we are part of the medical field and we have been and continue to be affected by corporate greed.
Gave up 2 IC jobs
With the incentive plans at TT, I found I was able to drop my 2 IC jobs and just work an 8-hour shift for TT and make a VERY decent wage. Holy moses, does it ever feel great to have a LIFE again, no more being chained to the computer 24/7 trying to make a living!
Oh yeah, great people at TT, too. No surprises, great training, all the other good stuff MTs want/need in a job.
Me too! I gave up 3 jobs for TT and have
Plus benefits like days off paid... this is really really a nice place to be and I so count my blessings.
She gave the name of the company.
If they gave the MLS a raise, they would not be able to
give themselves the big raises and bonuses they get. They want to keep us crawling.
clicked on something that gave it to me
but the stuff I see in the archives seems to mostly relate to a Wyoming Transform. ??
this is so sad, but it gave me a big laugh, thanks,,,nm
nm
Well I gave notice, had no production
or quality warnings, worked my shift plus lots of OT. Had a great supervisor when starting and a not so good one when I left, reason for which I left. She was aware of that so because of her I can't get rehired! She just didn't like me. It happens but as far as my work ethic and quality, no issues there. It doesn't matter anyway, it was a lapse in judgement on my part when I re-applied.
I feel your pain and almost gave up
