Yep, what did you expect guys? They are in Korea and offshore. Why don't you get a job with some nice American Company and enjoy life more? I think SPi are part of the reason AAMT changed their name and went INTERNATIONAL, if you know what I mean. Why would we have wanted AAMT (the A is (was) for American, but someone hustled it into the international arena. SPi is a SPONSOR for them now. When that happened I quit paying my dues. I have my integrity though and you can too. SPi is probably running all the reports you type to robot or foreign transcriptionists so they can fire you after you train them (for no extra compensation either). That is real job security! I quit working for MQ years ago after I found that was what they were doing. If they wanted to ask us if we wanted to be robot trainers and pay us more that would have been the right thing to do, but they didn't and they won't. I wouldn't have trained a robot to take my job no matter what the salary. We need to take back our profession (if we can still call it that) and work DIRECTLY for ethical services and/or hospitals and physicians and cut out the middleman. We need to remember why we transcribe reports. It is for PATIENT CARE. The best care and reports come from those who are human, accountable, and speak the language as a native no matter where you are. Can you tell that I am sick of all the messing around and takeover attitudes of these so called offshore related companies? They are literally taking over and calling the shots. I bet doctors are sick of it too. If all the patients knew, do you think they would want this method? Would they want a doctor flown in from Nigeria or Beirut to do their hysterectomy or tonsillectomy because they would do it for a better price? Would they want a robot teaching their children or a native Indian reading and trying to recreate something critical, life and death, in English? Would native Indians want US to transcribe an Indian doctor in their language? It is all so sad and we need to step up. Before I would work for SPi I would get a job at Mickey Ds flipping burgers - oh, no I guess I wouldn't in my city because all the illegal aliens seem to have that market all sewn up! Bottom line, you get what you pay for and NAFTA was the beginning of a great evil.
