Has anyone out there ever worked for River City Transcription out of Kansas? I cannot find ANYTHING about them anywhere.

I'm not so sure about this company. They want me to have Word 2000 or 2001 installed on my computer. I told them I have not used that version of Word in years and that I have Word 2003 and 2007. I like to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and software. Not so sure about these people...sounds kind of old fashion to me.

MTs being sold down the river
I find it disturbing that there may be health care administrators and even transcription company owners who are reading this nonsense and believing it. Where is the work disappearing to? We know a considerable amount to India and Korea. Why? One reason is because according to Nuance/eScription there are not enough American MTs to fill the jobs. Not only is this dishonest and unethical, but it is a slap in the face to all hardworking MTs in this country. Unfortunately, we all know this is not the only corporation guilty of this kind of irresponsible hype, but it is certainly one of the most blatant. Bless the companies that refuse to outsource abroad, but is it possible that they are losing accounts because they don't? All I know is that knowledge is power and trying to understand some of the reasons why our industry is in the condition it is in may lead to solutions.

Yeah, the Missouri and Kansas boards haven't been touched for a year maybe! There doesn't seem to be many successful transcription companies in Kansas City.

US Transcription has a good BC/BS plan....
that I think is relatively affordable - I pay $110 a month for single coverage, the deductible is $1500, office copay $20 ... all in all its about the best I have been offered or seen around. Don't know much about family coverage with it. US also offers Flex Spending Accounts which some folks use to offset health costs.
When I left Keystrokes their insurance was very expensive .. I have heard rumors they have found a better one, but rumors do tend to abound, so I would take that with a grain of salt.

I used Vianeta at good old Interpro Transcription (sm)
and the platform was horrible - nothing but problems - but Tech Support was excellent!! The platform did not work with Windows 98 ME, for me (about 2-3 years ago), plus the line counts were inaccurat. Actually, I believe Interpro's line count was inaccurate - a separate issue. I got to the point where I copied every single report to Word and used another line counter (Sylvan ?), but every check I received from Interpro was underpaid by $50+.

I was inquring about a job with Hands-On Transcription company. They did not have any website or physical address. They had just posted on here. I had emailed the lady several times. She told me I could purchase a C-phone from her for 399.00, which I do not have any familiarity with a C-phone (never had to use them in my career as of yet). Plus before she sent me the paperwork she wanted my name, phone, address, and SS#..I sent that, out of hesitation, and she has never sent paperwork back. Though she did email me about something else. I am scared now that maybe I should not have given her the information since I could not find anything on the company. So, please be careful. I should have went with my gut instincts....
