I feel the same way. I've been putting my resume out there and researching companies to no end. If they don't offshore, they have rigid schedules and don't pay well. I might just have to suck it up and stick it out.
I've also been contemplating an outside job out of this field altogether. I have a pretty good contact for a state job if I pass the test, which is 50% typing. Thinking I might do okay on it. The money would be about the same but the benefits (not that I need them) would be really good.
I just don't want to have to give up the flexibility and convenience of working from home for a few more years yet. My youngest just started 1st grade and my oldest is in 6th grade. Finding childcare for them is not only difficult but also expensive. I keep thinking if I can stick it out until my kids are a few years older, I would be better off.
Then I keep thinking of the others on here who were able to walk away from MDI immediately. I would love to be able to take that stand for the American worker, but I have to look out for my family first. I simply cannot do it financially. I also have to weigh the pros and cons of each company. Honestly, I could stand a little offshoring if my pay was good and the flexibility was still there. Yes I know I shouldn't say that, but I've got to think about what my family needs. And quitting wouldn't solve the issue anyway. There are tons of Indian MTs to fill my shoes.
