Oh my goodness, I didn't know he was still living. I've been gone from Texas for nearly 20 years. In the 70s I worked for Gulf Coast Emergency Physicians, specifically with Dr. Joel Hellman who worked closely with Dr. Red Duke in the evolution of certification for emergency physicians. Now I tell you Dr. Duke was a joy to get to meet. One could say he was just a Texas good ole boy. He didn't even try to appear to be anything else but I don't believe there was anyone in the medical profession who was more respected. He was brilliant but I don't believe he had an arrogant bone in his body and he actually COMMUNICATED, albeit sometimes with some pretty poor grammar...theoretically. hahaha Thanks for reminding me of him. We never forget those who took the time to help us along the way though do we? Well, at least those of us who were fortunate to have M.D. mentors. And there wasn't anything we wouldn't do for them either, including cheerfully correcting their grammatic and spelling errors to make them appear as the brilliant men they were without ever even considering correcting them. We knew they knew correct grammar. Dr. Hellman for example, never uttered an incorrect word or tense...can you say perfectionist? I loved him though for a variety of reasons.
