Read the fine print in the agreement - sm

I am very upset about it because I was told when I signed up that MT was not a problem, but if you read through the agreement, it clearly states that if they determine you are using the service for anything other than normal residential usage, based on what other residential customers use, they will change your plan to the talk 30 plan, which for me would cost about $60 dollars/day to use. I have also heard of other MTs being given pretty large bills. Honestly, I can't sleep at night!

Is it really necessary that you print ALL of it out?
When the company I work for sent me the account specifics and the list of physicians for my account (in total about 300 pages), I made shortcuts on my desktop for easy access so I wouldn't have to use so much paper and ink. Worked great for me.
Can't you print out an IM 'conversation?'
If so, this could help for documentation. Or screen print into word and print with the day and time. This equals documentation, too, I believe. Someone, correct me if I'm wrong.
Look at the print out of the doc list they sent you, or
look up the doc list on the hospital web site and use search. Otherwise, go to the doc information screen where the doc number is put in (for example on the cc) and then do a search there by doc last name sounding it out. Don't forget to delete the cc and then you can go back into the document. Hope it helps. Good luck.
I think you should print this letter out and
-- and maybe a newspaper or a TV station or two. The reason these people are getting away with ducking the law is that they think no one can see them do it. (And we're all 'nobodys', so we don't count). If this post just stays on this forum, only other MTs will read it. This needs to be read by the general public, and some of our lawmakers, as well.
This was an excellent post, and needs to be read by as many people as possible.
PS: My company pulls this one on us, too. Only instead of asking for overtime, since they know they'd have to pay us, they raise the number of minimum lines per day we have to do, and tell us to work harder, work faster. But then they throw a trip line into the works by tweeking the software to the point where it's as slow as molasses, or by giving us accounts with heavy ESLs and no samples or normals to work from.
I think all these folks need to spend some time in a cell with Bernie Madhoff.
be careful of what you print - I asked the same
thing and my post was deleted. They have had the same openings for the same jobs for well over a year. Hmmmmmm.........
Yes, you can also print them from Utilipro online. nm

An agreement that you will never
try to sue them.
SPI Agreement
What am I missing? Isn't it a nonissue anyway since we are all classified as at-will employees. They can fire us for no particular reason and we can also quit without a reason. My feeling is they have a lot of lawyers trying to justify their billing.
In 8 years I've never had to print anything off their site. Ever. nm

If you can view your paycheck online, you might be able to print W2s. NM
x
no, but the acct manager gets a daily print out
are on their system, whether or not you know they are doing it...they watch. Even if you exceed your line count in say, 4 hours, they will hound you for not being on the system for at least 6.
I was told by the office to use my own printer and ink to print out
I guess I would have to foward it to my personal email and then print from there. That printer ink is EXPENSIVE! More than postage. Why didn't they just mail everything to us??? Whose money are they using? The MT's who keep them in business??
Luckily, I ALWAYS print out my time sheet, so...
that will be my proof, I suppose. Needless to say, 40 hours is IT for me, lines or no lines. And now I need to start looking AGAIN for a better job, if such a thing even exists. Don't bother lauding TT - been there and done that and with the honesty about them of late I won't go there. But any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
License agreement
How about paying for the license agreement for the software that is needed?
I'm in agreement, but how bad of a manager
3 jobs. How on earth would they even be able to manage anything? I would have to assume that management is nonexistent for the people under that manager at those companies!
In total agreement
with the poster who stated that being overweight, most of the time is due to overeating because of emotional issues. I am such a person. I am 160 pounds overweight and emotional issues led to my overeating. Surgery will not take these issues away. I was 200 pounds overweight. I have been undergoing counseling and have joined Nutrisystem, where I also receive a lot of support. A long haul? Yes, but I would much rather go this route, then risk my life in a surgery with no definite outcome.
total agreement
MTs can make the $$ exactly how you stated using expanders. I also stay in one specialty field with the same dictators... but you must be focused on your work and with no expense on gas or clothes, that all adds up to money in your pocket.
Of course it is a breach of the confidentiality agreement.
But what can you do about it? Absolutely nothing. We have no way of knowing the identities of these individuals. There is no way to enforce it, especially when most of the MTs work from home. It would be a totally different scenario if two MTs work at the company and are overheard discussing matters that should not be discussed. All the MTSOs can do is to maintain our company standards and follow them to the letter, i.e. x amount per line based on x number years of experience and try not to deviate from it.
She might have had him sign a confidentiality agreement. Did you ask her about it?
You signed nothing? Not even a HIPAA agreement? I would think she sm
would be in hot water over that. Generally, you sign the HIPAA agreement and the contract at the same time. DId you talk about pay at all and make a verbal contract?
I agree with everyone else. Until some sort of pay is establishied, I wouldn't work anymore, PLUS, not sure I would want to work there anyway with all of the phone calls and drama that you described. It sounds like you would be signing up for a duty in Hell.
I'm sorry you have gone through all of this. Good luck to you.
I put a blurb about not contacting until a mutual agreement is met. nm
tt
What kind of agreement is it? They didn't tell me anything about that when I talked with them.
TIA.
The agreement is too broad in scope. It does not give you a
mile range limit on where you can work, therefore it is most likely unenforceable. Some states like Arizona have limited these contracts with regard to the medical profession, i.e., a case with a physician with a noncompete clause. They said the area was too broad and the MD could not make a living, therefore was too restrictive. Check out information in what state you are, but from what I see, it would be hard to enforce this contract.
Why did they send you a confidentiality agreement just to take the test?
In agreement with the above, sitting working on work
is just beyond what it should be. In earlier years I worked 2 jobs but each job paid every 2 weeks. One job paid 1 week, the other the next so my check each and every week was for 2 week pay period. How sweet was that! Now if I have a few hours downtime for no work it is fine, just take off, can make it up, don’t have to if I don’t want but very few times this happens and I only have a partime job now.
Not a single soul here works for CIT? Did you sign a confidentiality agreement or something?! :) nm

I think it is one person. I had a few print outs from a few weeks ago and this person even capital
I have had a positive one. I have been with Keystrokes for 3 months and am very happy.
I printed them to show my manager but she told me that there are few bitter people out there and no one can do anything about them. My manager said that everyone can tell that it is the same few over and over again, for Keystrokes and a few other companies as well. Time to move on Ms. Anon. I cannot think why a company would go through the trouble of getting IDs and getting you installed just to ignore you after that. Doesn't make sense, does it? Are you sure that't the whole truth? You keep saying truth but it sounds fishy.
I read all read all the threads in the "companies" section
of another board, MT Chat, and Googled each one that got positive reviews. If they had a website and a way to apply online, I did so. And that was how I got hired at TRS. They were not advertising at the time. By sheer coincidence I applied to Transcend just before I applied to TRS, and they were not interested in what I had to offer at the time. And now they've got me anyway, since they bought TRS. Interesting how things work out sometimes.
Companies with negative reviews, or company queries that got only a terse I sent you a PM reply, I passed over.
i have it and like it just fine
the preventative maintence is paid in full. I don't remember any long waiting periods. I do think you have to have the insurance a year before you can use it for braces tho, which i also did, and i think the max payout was $1000/yr on the braces (not absolutely sure i remember correctly). it has served me well and the monthly rate was fair.
Fine
So that's what was rude. Okay. But did you read my second post? I DID say work was slow. I DO know it. How many ways can I say it????? But, I am still able to get my line counts in. So are many, many other MTs at Transcend? I see many MTs asking questions for word help/account specific questions, as they are typing. They are typing. Why are they? Why are many of us able to get our lines in? Why can't you? Ask for another account. They said in the email sent out yesterday that if you want or need another account to email them, training will begin today? Why aren't you training on a new account? I have been with Transcend for awhile and have had no problems getting my line count in at all. That is what I am saying. I am not going to get on here and say anything else, as that would not be the truth from my side of it. I am not saying that you aren't having a hard time pulling work. All I am saying is that it is still possible even though slow, as I am doing it and so are others.
I think $13.50 is just fine, especially when....sm
I don't have to buy "work" clothes per se, don't have to drive into the office to work, and can be home when my kids get off the bus, thereby saving money for after-school babysitting. I live just fine on my salary and it's not for you to knock what I make or how I live...and yes, we go to the movies AND buy popcorn/sodas there!
I have friends who make $20-25 an hour in their jobs and they drive in to work (we live in the suburbs of a major city), have to wear business clothes, and pay for daycare. Not only do they spend 2 hours a day in the car commuting to/from work but with the costs of them workintg they actually end up making less money than I do - it's all how you look at it and do the math. I on the other hand buy a tank of gas and it lasts usually 3 weeks, sometimes 4 and yet we're not deprived.
That's quite fine...sm
Not my loss
VPN is fine as well.

Yep, still here. Doing fine. nm

Why is that fine?
Aren't they about the only U.S. MTSO that does that? Are they willing to make their books available to determine how soon after they are paid they pay the MTs? Sounds like it is problematic, and a well run company (which granted is not them, since they're only overflow) would be able to handle this, just like 99% of other employers or businesses do. Why is it fine? Can we tell our utility company or car note company that we'll pay them when we get paid?
I like it fine
Nothing really exciting but nice people to work with. Plenty of work with overtime and incentives quite often. Always paid on time and correctly. Rate is 0.09 for some account and 0.10 for a harder one. Every account has a few hard dictators but overall pretty good. ExText platform. 401K with 100% match of up to 4% after a year of employment. Not very good insurance. I feel secure and comfortable - just not making a lot of money. Not sure about raises. I haven't had one. Anybody else know if and when?
What co was that for? I'm sure you did fine.
zzz
You are going to be just fine sm
Every job takes some getting used to and you are never too old to learn new programs. It's just unlearning the old program and relearning the new. You'll get there. TT is very patient.
That's fine
if you are going to judge 'my tone' from posts without benefit of any one on one discussion, you are free to research the possibility of a union on your own.
I'm a straight-shooter, and sometimes that translates to some as harsh... others take my posts with a large grain of salt and/or withhold judgement. Your choice :)
I'm not willing to hold the reins here anyway, merely to help a serious interest proceed.
And by the way, the ant hill is plenty stirred up from my viewpoint. My whole intent was to see if the ants wanted to see a possible solution, or merely to continue venting...
Everything is fine at MQ now sm
We are also being paid downtime for the time we were down, so it wasn't so bad at all!
It's fine :)
Some people have no personality and just love to be negative. I guess it really bothers her that you made a career change. (holy crap)
I think we will be fine and do even better
I think we will have our pick of jobs. I am not worried about any of the names unionized workers resort to calling.
Just keep on keepin' on.
If okay with you, then fine with me
I don’t work for the company but with jobs disappearing overseas today and with most concerned about lack of work, falling salaries, and so on I would think only a matter of time before all go that way.
That's fine.
If they don't have work for me during the hours I want to work, fine. I end up taking the day off. Just part of being IC.
But the problem the OP had was MTSO dictating what hours the MT is to work such as must working from 8-5. They cannot do that. If they need someone to work a shift from 8-5, then they need an EMPLOYEE, not an independent contractor.
Sure, that would be fine
nm
Working fine for me
I haven't had any problems since beginning with Diskriter in January this year. My benefits are great and they just switched to Highmark Blue Cross because employees surveyed wanted a wider coverage area program. I meet my incentive almost every week. Working for me!
It was fine! What I enjoyed was...
...that in one of the transcription reports I had my favorite doc on the whole planet dictating. I recognized his voice - what were the chances that that would happen? I live in an area with about 50,000 people, and the hospital he dictates for is about mid-size. It was nice to hear him again.
that fine~i don't much care whether
you believe me or not. I have nothing to prove to you. lol
I am sure everything will be fine. Been there 90 days now. (sm)
After sticking it out for 3 yrs with the worst company going (OSi), I couldn't be happier.
That would be fine if he was supporting the U.S.
sm
For a newbie, that's just fine. nm
