I am wondering about anyone who has recently or is currently working for this company...any input is appreciated. There is some Bad talk about non-payment in the search archives from 2003-2004, but no recent talk. Just curious. :)

CURRENT Rapid Transcript IC's
I have been reading past posts about the problems people have been having getting paid by Rapid Transcript. What I am wondering is if anyone is CURRENTLY contracting with them and getting paid on time or is it just a wast of time to do work for them because I will not get paid in a timely fashion? I am supposed to start editing for them on Monday, but I'm not even going to waste my time if they are continuing this non-payment policy.

Rapid Transcript, Inc (RTI) does not pay its employees in a timely manner, if at all
I would be very hesitant to work for this company. I have filed complaints against them with the Attorney General's Office and with the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.
If you go to the Better Business Bureau page and look this company up you will also see that they have a F rating.
It is very unfortunate, because they have good dictators at good hospitals and I am sure that they are paid in a timely manner, you would think that they would do the same for their contracted employees.
They stated in an e-mail to me that I should not contract my services out if I expect to be paid. They do not care about their employees at all. They are just using new employees to get free work.

I am looking for a place to work that I can have full-time without working weekends. Is this a good company to work for? Do they have plenty of acute care/hospital work? How is there platform/type of program? Is it true you don't have to work weekends or nights?

Anyone out there working for Rapid Transcript as an editor? How long do you have to wait before being paid? I was thinking about starting to work for them but am having second thoughts. Would love to hear from current employees.

Amy is so right about this company using new employees to get free work. Last year, I was hired by them to be a QA Editor. They had a probation period (which I completely understand), but they were so fussy when it came to formatting, punctuation, spacing, etc. that they kept asking that I transcribe 5 more reports -- yes TRANSCRIBE! I was hired as an editor, but I was required to transcribe these reports so that they could make sure I understood what their process was. To make a long story short, after being asked to transcribe 5 more reports about 10 times, I finally stood up and said something. They then proceed to say that I was not what there were looking for in an editor, but that if I wanted a transcription job, they would be more than happy to hire me!!! Can you believe their gall? I wasn't good enough to be an editor, which I never really got a chance to do in the first place, and then they offered me a typing job! I, too, had a lot of trouble getting payment from these people. I would email two, maybe three, times a day asking about my payment. It took months (after I verbally refused to work for them until I received payment) and finally I received it in full and said good riddens to bad rubbish! PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!

Are you a new employee, i.e. hired in the last month? If you read your contract with Rapid, it takes 30 days to get you into the system and process your first check. I was upset that I did not get paid after being with the company 2 weeks until someone pointed out the clause in the the contract, which I had not read carefully enough. I have worked for companies who have done the same thing - made me wait a month for my first check. When I saw this and other posts, I confronted the company about it. The person with whom I spoke was very nice and patient about it and stated emphatically that I would receive my first check and when. I know Rapid has had problems in the past, but rather than get upset over these posts, which I did, I am going to give the company a chance.

I hear they are getting some new clinic and doctor's accounts (non-hospital) which will pay more timely, and ensure prompt payments to their MTs. They are always looking for sharp people. In the past, they have been a slow payer of ICs bcuz hospitals were slow payers, but it looks like this is turning around. They are very nice and accommodating, and appreciate careful work. ICs only. Any schedule usually; very flexible.

I thought I would put in a good word for Rapid Transcripts... I did some work for them and got a check today. There have been negative posts that they don't pay. They had told me it may take up to 45 days for a check, and it was a little less than that.

I was thinking about applying for an MT position with this company and I am so happy that I read this message about non-payment. How can they get away with it? Is anyone else having this problem or did they accidently mess up on just paying this individual? Very unfortunate situation. I hope Amy gets paid for her work and they are held accountable for non-payment.

Please let me know if any else who reads this message is having trouble getting paid from RAPID TRANSCRIPT from last month. I stopped working for them when pay was not on time and I am still awaiting payment. Now, I am behind on rent and I need to know when I am going to get paid. I'm about to check into LEGAL action!
Rapid Transcript may have not paid in the past, But
I have never had a problem receiving my pay. I have worked for the company for 8 months now. I have not one time had to complain about not receiving my check. I always get it when it is due. It is not direct deposited, so it is possible for it to be a day earlier or a day later than you expect it sometimes only because it gets sent by mail. Hope this helps.

I noticed in past posts they said they hound you when you're not working. But they're advertising a flexible schedule right now. Is that something new?

Is their system efficient? I'm so tired of wasting so much time keeping logs of everything and having to type patients' names and data that I don't get paid for.

Here it is again. Several divisions, they don't all operate the same. The one in Colorado uses Scribe and Express Scribe which isn't such a great program. I had problems with it freezing all the time. No demographics are filled in. (You aren't paid for doing it either.) You are expected to look up old reports and fill in blanks before you send to QA. They do not have 24/7 technical support. No overtime. No incentive/tier pay. Quarterly QA, must pass to be eligible for $50 bonus. Paid holidays. Some hire IC/and/or employees. Benefits (expensive but more than 1 deductible to choose from). Both straight typing and VR accounts. Cherry picking was a problem. Set schedules. Not for newbies.

most of what I have found is pretty old. Are the current employes squelched when it comes to giving out information regarding the company or are they just so busy they don't have time to mess around on the boards? My current job allowed 4 hours of training pay. The previous
job allowed an extra 25% of your line rate for 3 days. I don't think there is what I call an industry standard for training.
