Work volumes....
Work volumes have been pretty low across the board. We were told at a town hall meeting last month that they would be recruiting MTs from within the company to work on these new accounts that are coming on board soon in order to solve low work volumes many of us have been encountering. It's not very comforting to hear that they are doing exactly what they promised not to do (hire new MTs for these accounts).
Proscript low volumes
Anyone else get the e-mail about low volumes at Proscript and what do you think?
Proscript low volumes
Proscript has just had layoffs for no work.
FOCUS WORK VOLUMES
I just wanted to add that I find plenty of work if I work between 5pm and 11pm, eastern time. If I want to work during the daytime, say between 8am and 5pm, the queues are often empty (3 of them). There was one time that I logged in at 4am, and I found the queues all empty at that time as well.
Good luck.
That speaks volumes for the respect MTs have for
NM
My experience was low pay, low work volumes
But they were very nice. Unfortunately, nice doesn't pay the bills. :/
I have noticed low volumes but so far no emails. sm
Maybe it depends on your account.
QA is good, they are fair - DSG not the only one with low volumes
Some days I think the industry itself is in a death spiral... there certainly has been a yo-yo effect for a while now on volume.
My suggestion is that people start looking in other directions at least for back up/part time income. I could be wrong but I just don't see a reversal happening in this industry.
Not only is VR working against us, it will only improve with time - and possibly to an extent that will even reduce VR positions. Likely more software is in development that will further erode job opportunities and/or drive down wages.
Outsourcing is playing a huge role as well.
Not to create or add to anyone's panic, but read the writing on the wall before it's too late - diversify your skills and don't put all your eggs in the transcription basket, cuz me thinks there's an egg-sized hole in the bottom. insert wry smiley face here.
Unless she can provide large volumes of
eventually the big co's with their guerilla business tactics will stomp on her little business, too.
Low work volumes, horrible sound
What is going on with Transcend?
I am about to leave also and I never thought I'd see myself type that!
Great company, low escription volumes but..
hopefully it will pick up. I really love working for them. I only want to edit, do not want to type
actions and attitudes speak volumes
....
My experience is work volumes fluctuate SM
but fairly predictably, and a full shift is virtually always available IF you choose to adapt work schedule for those days and periods when work is plentiful.
Until recently health benefits were available for a 36-hour workweek, now it's a 40-hour work week with some flexibility.
Working that full schedule, though, a skilled MLS (medical language specialist) with a well-developed and used Expander who is familiar with the assigned accounts can make good money, and many do. The incentive bonus schedule is quite good and rewarding to high producers.
Percentage of ESL is quite high, but they're as doable as any others once familiarity with their dictation is achieved (typically they know we can't understand them and try to vary as little as possible from their standard verbage).
WebMedx specializes in mid-sized community medical centers. No Cleveland Clinics or UCLA MC here, which is the biggest drawback I know of, really the only one, with this company. This type of workload does contribute to getting that high-line-count familiarity, though. Accounts and formats are typically easy to learn, with relatively little in the way of fussy individuality to keep track of.
I do believe WebMedx is genuinely trying to get and hold onto good people by treating them well. Absolutely no complaints in that regard in all the time I've worked there.
So, welcome, NN, and best wishes on your decision, Decision. :)
Your positive attitude speaks volumes! Good for you! sm
I worked for JLG in the past and it was a stable, quality company. There are always bumps in the road for everyone--even for companies.
I wonder if these students aren't doing some Webmedx dictation already with work volumes as they
It ain't all the economy. They are either OVERHIRING incredibly or the work is going somewhere else. Definitely. They should have the decency to be straight with us.
Read the archives. Hardly a day goes by that
someone asks info on a company that was just discussed the day before. There are other forums besides this one too where you can get info on companies. Post your resume on the various job boards. There are companies that do not post ads but hire from the resumes. My current position I was hired from my resume and I have been offered a couple of other positions from companies who contacted me from my resume who did not post ads.
I work for a good company and honestly they are not hiring. Other MTs do seem to get upset when people will not tell them what company they work for. I don't believe they are afraid of losing their job to someone else (at least for the most part I don't), but they don't want the company to overhire. There are many posts on the boards about people not having work for days on end because companies are overhiring.
All you have to do is read the archives.
Overall it seems that most MTs are very happy. BTW I am not a TT MT.
Read through the archives. There have
been posts about them just above every well. They are an Indian run company.
Read the archives. I did QA and did not like it.

Read the archives and then RUN.

Why not read the archives?
If you read through the archives you'll see not
much good about this company, especially from people who refused to listen to the issues that others had and went to work for them anyway. They offshore big time, constant turnover. I wouldn't consider it.
They were actually one of the companies I was looking at until I read the archives..it seems
they haven't changed at all with the negative responses this time around. Thanks for the warnings!
If you read the archives you should find what you are looking for, although
you won't find much good about them.
If you read the archives you won't find much
good about them. They switch you from account to account. They have had management problems for many years. Their line counting is difficult to figure out and they dock you for lots of things. They also offshore and are currently training women in Trinidad and somewhere else so you know what that means. Some of their accounts are teaching hospital and I worked on one of them and the dictation quality was horrendous. If you're a newbie I doubt they'd put you on it though.
There are worse companies out there, but I still wouldn't recommend TRS.
Read the archives. Someone else just asked about
them this week. They are not a good company.
Read the archives. Lots there, most of it not
good. Someone else asked about them this week so scroll through the board.
Read the archives. Someone asks about them
almost daily.
You must do a search and read OSI archives
read the archives. also, low work
times outside of the holidays is just plain poor staffing, which can be done so that everyone has enough and the work is kept up. It has been done. Problem is, getting people to do more when there is a slam. No incentives for it? they won't come through. company solution? overhire.
Plenty of bad if you read the archives, but the
fact that they offshore so much is enough to keep me away.
If you read the posts in the archives you
will run as fast as you can. They are not are reputable company and I'm not even sure they are a transcription company at all, but a front just to rob you blind. We call them TransScam.
There are multiple unresolved complaints with the BBB.
Read the archives. Doesn't pay much, you
pay expenses and get reimbursed.
Read the archives, lots of info there.
Read through the archives, horrible company.
The dictators are some of the worst ESLs, sound quality is horrific, the reports are so bad I had to basically retype them, flaky QA, management problems, etc.
Read the archives. Many posts, none good. nm
Have read archives, but can any current TRS employees ... SM
share how it is there now, specifically whether the required line counts are doable and if they generally have good accounts - also about the benefits. Thanks!
I found Medgarde, but read in the archives...
that they don't pay for spaces and make you pay for their platform. Is this still the case?
Read in the archives that Mediscript (FL) is "bad news" Why?
.//
I read in archives that pay is 65 char wo spaces, is that true?

I've read the archives but would like current info on this comany. Thanks nm

Worst company to work for. Read the archives and you'll
be hard pressed to find anything good about this company.
Precyse Solutions -- I've read the archives and I'm looking for updated ...
responses. Is there anybody here that's actually happy working for Precyse? Are most folks making decent money there?
Thanks.
Read the archives. Lots of stuff recently. Not good.
Opinions on Focus. Please. I read all archives. Please most recent info. Thanks. NM
nm
Frequent turnover, offshore big time. Read the archives, lots of info on them. nm
If you'll read the archives you'll find out everything
you want to know, none of it good.
I read all read all the threads in the "companies" section
of another board, MT Chat, and Googled each one that got positive reviews. If they had a website and a way to apply online, I did so. And that was how I got hired at TRS. They were not advertising at the time. By sheer coincidence I applied to Transcend just before I applied to TRS, and they were not interested in what I had to offer at the time. And now they've got me anyway, since they bought TRS. Interesting how things work out sometimes.
Companies with negative reviews, or company queries that got only a terse I sent you a PM reply, I passed over.
I read your post. What do you want me to re-read?
and it seems those are your posts, too, so things just didn't add up and seemed inconsistent. If a place dropped me down to p.r.n. at 7 cpl or whatever and I already had another job where I could get 1000-1500 lines, I wouldn't give the first place a second thought so just couldn't figure out why anyone else would.
