Questions about testing for a company

I just tested for a company who had me transcribe several reports. The reports consisted of good dictators that were extremely fast. Unfortunately, I left a few blanks where I just could understand what she was dictating.
My question is this, how many of you tested for a company where your sample reports had blanks and did you get the job???????

Questions before testing
I wanted to apply with a company on this board whose ad sounded pretty good but they would not even tell me their pay scale beforehand so I said to heck with them. Too much time and stress involved. Probably low pay or they would have at least told the high and low ends.
A few questions about testing for CMT...
I'm basically a self-taught MT that has learned everything hands-on over the last 18 years in this field. I currently work PT (not by choice) for a decent national that has never ever made an issue of whether or not I'm a CMT, so basically this would be for my benefit...if there is one. I have done very little research up to this point so forgive me if my questions would be easily answered on my own. The whole CMT idea actually just did become of interest to me after reading some posts a while ago.
I would really appreciate any responses. TIA!
1. Do you (CMTs) find that more potential employers are willing to waive the testing portion of application process when you tell them you are a CMT?
2. What majority of employers do you feel are willing to pay more based on having the CMT? If so, approximately how much more?
3. What do you think my chances are of passing the CMT test with 18 years experience only?
4. Does an MT have to pay annual fees to maintain their title of CMT?
Thanks to those willing to take the time to respond!our responses!
Questions about testing...please help!
I've been applying for jobs quite a while now and have finally made it to the testing portion. I'm pretty confident with my transcription skills, it's the format I have questions with. My first test was obviously an H&P. There were some headings missing. Should I insert SOCIAL HISTORY: before The patient resides in Anywhere, USA? Also, in the physical exam, no headings were given at all. Would it be acceptable to add them in? I've spent the majority of the afternoon looking up BOS guidelines, but there isn't much information out there with regard to testing formats and guidelines.
I'd sure appreciate any info anyone could share as soon as possible. Thanks!!
I have always had my questions anwered before testing.
p
They were willing to answer all my questions before testing, tho.

Testing for company and need help..sm pls..tia!
They will be sending two wave files and I am supposed to open them in Media Player and record them. Then I will use Panasonic to transcribe and send back via e-mail. Can someone please tell me how to open a voice file in Media Player? I have never done this before. tia!
You don't know before testing what company they
will recommend, but you do know the name of the company, so even if D&L uses them you know you don't want to work for them and just tell them so. Of course after you turn down one position you won't hear from them again, but really not big loss.
when testing for a company
Does anyone know when testing for a company and having to use word pad to take part of the test since I don't have just microsoft word, is it necessary to save after every correction? I know I saved after some individual corrections but I think Imay have missed some. I did hit save as of course at the end to save it to word pad. I'm just wondering how the heck I did not pass this test. I had one company ask me if I was certified because I did so well, but I don't know what happened with this one.
Company Testing....sm
Why do the MTSOs give us the crummiest dictators for application testing? I know it wouldn't be a challenge to our MT abilities if they all spoke like Shakespeare, but it seems like they do it on purpose...after lengthy applications, vocabulary tests, interviews, they give us dictation to pull our hair out. They probably couldn't understand half of it themselves. Why not reverse the process (lol), so we can save ourselves some time and effort?
Company Testing
I just complete as much of the testing that I can do and send it to them. I was sent two voice files that were Acute Care and I have never done that specialty since I have only done Clinic transcription. I e-mailed the person who is handling the testing and told them I would do the Medical Transcription portion and editing portion and send the tests to them. I got hired immediately.
See if it will work that way! I refuse to take any type of voice file dictation test if I have never done that specialty. That's why we send our resumes and tell the company our specialties!!!
Company testing
Could it be that some companies are using applicants to transcribe their poor dictations so all they have to do is a little editing? After all, an applicant is not paid, and has more time to do research. Then all they have to do is send it over to their client and the applicants do the work. Am I suspicious?
The testing is done by an outside company.
I don't know that it follows any particular way, but I always use BOS guidelines unless told otherwise. I am by no means an expert on BOS as the companies I've worked for haven't used it at all, or only used bits and pieces - the client dictated style most of the time. The company that did the testing and Axolotl both told me I did extremely well on the testing, so I'd just say do your best and don't stress.
Testing for New England company.
Has anyone done the testing for NE? I tried and found it very difficult to access and upload and download files. In fact my computer said that zip files were corrupted and I could not even get the files loaded. How do you go about uploading zip files? I was afraid to proceed as my computer was warning me of security risks to my computer. Anybody else having these problems?
Quest. about testing vs. sending resume to company...
As we know, most companies have you test for them, usually through mttest.com. Some places allow you to submit your resume first, which is often followed by the invitation/direction to take their test. My question is, do most companies just recieve your resume and automatically have you test, or do they actually look at the resume first to see if your initial qualifications are adequate? I've tested at a few places and didn't qualify. I'd love to know that they actually checked out my experience first and that is why they're having me test instead of me spending all that time when they may just be able to tell me I'm not qualified just from the resume. Do you know which is the case?
Just took a test today for a company and I am amazed how rusty I am after not testing for years and
years. I had to really think about things again. I guess after you test enough you get used to it. That is the first one I took in about 13 years. I just more or less did it to see how it was. Should be interesting to see how it went because I really dont want to work for the company I just wanted to take the test. A lot of tricky questions in it.
You should be asking the company these questions. sm
They are the ones who can accurately answer them.
questions about company
For anyone looking to work at Synthescribe AKA AAMT, think twice, they hired me PT for an account in December and it was horrible. All of the work was being done in Manila. The management is very difficult to work with and they have a tendency to scream at you in emails. They had direct deposit but stopped it to save money as they were letting another company handle it. They give you little if any information or training on their system and when they lost the account I was on they never said a word, just removed our passwords from the log in area and went about their business. They didnt care whether you had work or not, it was just really a bad situation. I was glad to get out of there and now I have a really good PT job with really nice people. Synthescribe is in Nashville.
company questions
Does anyone know about Augusta Medical Transcription called mittranscription?? Any good and bad with this company?
Questions about company
Has anyone ever worked for Successful Office Solutions? Did you like working for them, good or bad?
I work for the company and to answer some of your questions
When you talk about flexible, what do you mean, working whenever you want or just what? I might get slammed for it but do not care but companies need to be able to set some kind of schedules to get their work done, so dont know exactly what kind of flexibility you want. How long to make money? Well, again that has all to do with the person working. Are you a newbie with 3 months experience or have you worked 20+ years and doing the work is like taking candy from a baby? Variables. Is is worth accepting a job there, depends on you. I work there, have for about 3 years, love it but everyone is different.
Actually I posted looking for answers to my questions above, not looking to answer questions, but
to here goes...firstly, I don't know about the platform, only that it is Word based. Secondly, I have many years cardio, and thirdly, no the test was not hard. Still looking for any answers to my questions above. Thanks in advance.
Testing
Chronicle Transcripts will wave testing based upon a person's years of experience and good references.
Testing
Can anyone tell me of any companies that do only written and/or verbal testing? Thanks a lot.
job testing
When I tested (within the last 3 months), I did three reports from three different MDs. There were blanks somewhere in each of them. Not many, but I did have to leave blanks. And yes, I got the job. So cheer up! I think they expect the blanks. Better to leave blanks than make up something you're not really sure you heard.
TH testing
Would you mind sharing what the oral test is like?? TIA!
Just keep on testing.
Don't be discouraged. The more you test, the better you will become at it and it will desensitize you to the stress. I wish you the best!
What about testing? Did they get
back to you and offer you the job prior to testing based only on your resume? Thanks.

testing
I went through some additional training to get on with the company I am with, and the voice files were 10x harder than those I work with every day -- you need to find out from these companies if their work is like the voice test files or not. It is my understanding that there also 3 categories, easy, medium, and hard dictators -- and that determines my pay scale.
testing
I believe I took a written test only, if even that (I only remember filling out application and sending my resume, but that was to old recruiter for KS) and I KNOW I did not take a verbal. I've only taken a verbal with one company I applied with, and that was odd. I believe the heaviest weight for this job was my interview with the Lead. I did the same as you - took it on PT. I've already been offered FT, but I'm not ready to do that yet. Give it a whirl ... you'll like it, I'm sure.
re: testing
I just took their test this morning and I guess misery loves company because I am glad to hear I wasn't the only disgruntled applicant! The sound quality was very poor. They must be looking to hire psychics...I prefer it when they try to stump you with obscure terminology.
testing
What companies?
testing
I graduated in November from PCDI and had no problem finding people to test me. I am not disagreeing about PCDI being a less-than-average school, but she is 3/4 through it already, and it can be done.
testing
What companies did you find that were willing to test PCDI grads?
Maybe testing is new
I have been with Keystrokes for almost 2 years on an account that I love. I never tested when I started. Maybe it is something they have recently implemented.
testing
I refuse to test. I have 7 year experience. I send them a sample of my best work, maybe a H and P by a pakistan dictator. It is insulting to be tested. Dustin Hoffman doesn't test for parts why should I test for a danged typing job.
Testing
I recently tested for an in-house hospital position and the supervisor told me up front the dictator was American, and she saw no point in testing on a heavy ESL dictator since it really would not tell her much about my base of knowledge or interpretation skills. The file she did give me though had a lot of tricky phrases and common-sounding words that an MT with lack of experience would have a problem with. It was by far the best testing philosophy I had ever been exposed to. In other words, a supervisor who actually gets it.
testing
HMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Applied for a TRANSCRIPTION job, not a QA job. In the testing she sent four jobs that need to be edited and they don't have voice files to go with them, just read them and edit them.
Maybe I am wrong, but I sent them back to her. IMO if you are testing for a transcription job you are testing on your skills of typing, not editing.
correct me if you think i am way out of line
Testing
I tested also and sent my tests back on 02/14/07. I just assumed may be they had filling their positions? Not sure at this point.
Testing
Is there both a written and transcription test? If so, do you think they are difficult?
Testing?
I have been out of the loop for many years when it comes to applying for a job. Can anyone please tell me what to expect as far as testing when it comes to applying with any transcription companies. I need to leave the Q in the worst kind of way before this company drives me totally crazy! Thanks for your help.
Testing
When I worked for MQ a few years back, their pedal worked with Express Scribe. (free download) or if you have USB pedal such as an Infiniti, use it with Express Scribe.
testing
Yes, I agree. I totally ask how much they pay before hand. I have never run into any problems. Why spend so much time testing to get told you will be paid 4cpl!
Testing
Their testing is hard to pass!!!
testing
Phoenix will be glad to test you at anytime. We receive 100's of resumes a week and all applicants who have the experience necessary are replied to. If you did not receive the testing information, just email hr@phoenixmedcom.com and we will be happy to send you the testing information. Some emails are returned as undeliverable as well, so there is nothing that can be done about this.
Testing
On their site, there's a link to click to take the test. Be prepared to spend 45 minutes to over an hour. There are multiple choice questions and transcribing. I went ahead and did it today just to get it out of the way if they do call.
Testing.
I am recently going through this testing process and what is send my resume with a note asking them if they could tell me what their pay scale is before I do the testing. That way, if they are only going to give you 7 cpl and it is unacceptable to you, you haven't wasted all your time doing the tedious testing. Also, 3 or 4 companies I applied do actually didn't even have me do the testing, saw my experience, talked with me on the phone, and offered me the position! Good Luck!
on the testing, but
They have a tier'd pay rate on production and 3 different sets based on employee with insurance, employee without insurance, and IC.
like 6 cpl to 7 cpl for up to 3000 lines, a bit more for up to 6000 lines, and a bit more for all lines over 6000.. 8-9.5 perhaps. No shift differential, no weekend pay. No holiday pay.
testing
I will check to see if the test has come through. I don't remember asking anyone to take the test, but I will sure check on it for you!
testing with them
I'm testing with them now and I think that she said DocQscribe. I'm not familiar with it unfortunately.
Quig
Right you are, Testing MT! An MT must know sm
the standards as determined by BOS, and should make note on the test that s/he followed BOS guidelines for the test. That would be a clue to the testing company that the MT just might know his/her stuff.
