I started recently and seem to find it rather difficult to get a good line count for some reason. Help appreciated.

Keystrokers do you find it difficult to make lines? Almost
a year ago I was offered a position with KS. There were lots of rumors going around about my company so I started looking, but I fell for the lies my MTSO told and stayed put. The rumors became fact and I had to find another job. I just cannot make decent lines with new company. I went from gross line to 65 characters, which by itself can make 100+ lines a day difference. The platform is boggy and I prefer to do Ops only, but doing everything but due to my scheduled work time and the tight TAT of Ops and I'm just not happy.
I was hired for an acute care account doing Ops at KS, but I can't remember any of the other details (other than of course pay). I'm thinking about calling them to see what they may have to offer (they said call if I changed my mind), but don't want to have to start all over again only to find myself in the same situation I'm currently in with no able to make lines.
Also, what kind of Expander can you use. New job uses SH and I really don't like it.
Does anyone that is currently or had worked for DSG find it rather difficult to get a good line
count for some reason.
I find this very difficult to believe.

Easy. No problem. Its a breeze. You will not find it difficult in the least!

Very difficult and they raised the minimum lines per wk. nm
Uhoh .. does that mean it is difficult to make the 1300 lines per day sm
required for the 10 cpl? I was in high hopes ... sigh.
Thanks so much for your help/input.
Low line counts - difficult to make 1200 lines in 8 hours. sm
25 years of experience as an Acute Care MT and I had a difficult time getting 200 lph with Bayscribe. Any other accounts with other companies, I could easily transcribe 350-400 lph. Not at MDI - very difficult. I loved the account, but again it was difficult to get a decent line count.
It doesn't matter if you pay me 11 cpl if I can't get a decent line count. Couldn't take the 3 x day e-mails either.
Bayscribe stinks!
Minimum lines for FT used to be 60,000 keystrokes a day, about 925 lines. Pay was good. Just not a

Meditech usually pays by gross lines so I find
that it works out about the same, maybe even a little more per hour. That has just been my experience, though.
I don't find it slow - I don't have any trouble making my lines - nm

I find the lines don't accumulate as quickly, but the atmosphere is GREAT. nm
No I am not a troll, but I did find a job. Good for me
I found a job as a medical secretary and that is good enough for me right now. It is not the best situation, but I will get some SUM tapes and practice. Thanks for the advise.
Good luck wherever you go...hopefully you find the right fit for you...
nm
Let us know if you find it!! Good luck...nm

Why test to find out their pay is not good?
The recruiter should answer the question regarding pay before wasting time on testing. JMO.
It's only good if it's for about 10 lines. nm

Good luck!. When you find the company, let us know. sm
I'm in the same boat.
I have been looking and hope to find a good 'home' soon! NM

i didn't find the communication to be good
well, it was as long as i said everything was rosey. Soon as things weren't so perfect, they became much less than friendly.
Does anyone know anything (good or bad) about DTS America? Haven't been able to find anything at

Good company, for sure. Find one where you're SM
consistently safe from overhiring--and then come back and give all the rest of us the name. In the meantime, for me at Webmedx most days have plenty of work, although some days require adjusting my schedule during the day to the work flow.
You know, evolving electronic capabilities and patient needs have now led hospitals--our employers' clients--to expect the very quick turnaround needed. Years past have taught home MTs we can work when it suits us. Is it any wonder that MTSOs are currently doing their best to deal with these realities by overhiring when needed? Webmedx is trying to stabilize this situation to everyone's benefit--economic at least for us--by pushing its MTs to meet our commitment of hours per week while still allowing some flexibility.
I'm MsIndigo and I approved this ad. :) Best wishes whereever you land.
Do you find that you are able to earn a good income with them?
Do you have ample work, or do you often have to resort to MT work to fill the time?
Anyone find Oracle to be a good company?
I was just referred to Oracle Transcription Services. Is this a good place to consider switching to as an IC, as this is all they hire. The flexible schedule of an IC definitely appeals to me.
Anyone find a good home at Softscript?
Any feedback appreciated.
Good - Find someone else to spew your venom at
You must really have a heart on for LandMark the way you jumped all over MY post when there are a few posts in this thread that said the same thing I did about companies going to VR. I said NOTHING NEGATIVE about LandMark.
You're obviously someone with a shell of a life who has nothing better to do than LOOK for reasons to start internet squabbles to make yourself feel superior in that delusional little world you've carved out for yourself, probably eating en and Jerry's by the quart and rarely seeing the light of day.
I feel sorry for you.
Do yourself a favor and step away from keyboard and get some sunlight on occasion. Perhaps you're lacking in vitamin D.
Good luck getting those 10,000 lines
nm
Gee, I tried real hard to find those good posts,
but all I could find, in addition to the other complaints already listed, were complaints about being in the "middle of an 11-minute job when it was pulled and given to someone else," "There has to be a better way NOT to make a living," "I know I am going to end up on food stamps," complaints of no compensation for down time and BTXT being down and MTs not being notified.
If there were one or two positive comments about it on there somewhere, they are certainly overshadowed by all the justified negativity, outrage and frustration that's there.
I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy, and you should be ashamed of yourself if you recommend that anyone apply there for employment these days. It used to be a good company, and like the song says, "Used-to-be's don't count any more." Although I don't expect them to "bring me flowers" I do expect to be able to earn a living wage, and those days are quickly disappearing.
Make your own nest. Find a couple of good
accounts, multiple companies if you have to. Work on them every day just to stay on top of it. I used to bend over backwards to try to help where needed, but all I ever got was kicked in the head, so now I just do my routine. When they start appreciating people, (and not just an occasional 'oh how wonderful you are' when they are backlogged and know you can do a lot of work), by some type of recognition like a raise or promotion, then you can go back to being the nice guy.
Good MT hard to find & 1 familiar with platform is

Unlike the poster below, I did not find the ESLs good dictators at FN. sm
In fact, in my over 20 years of experience, they were the worst I have ever heard. We got way more than 3 e-mails a day, too. More like 10 to 15, beginning for help and sometimes bordering on threatening. If you are really good with ESLs, you MIGHT do okay. But who wants to put up with that?!? No bennies either. Glad I am long long gone. The grass really is greener.
I think you would be doing good to find a reputable company, much less by putting qualifiers
:+
How many accts did you experience in 3 days? Been there for a few months and so far so good. I find
but compared to where I was the lines sure do add up, and I absolutely love my acct, supervisor, tech people and QA! All have been great!!
Along the same lines, has anyone ever left TH and gone back with good results?

I love the K. Long reports, good lines.

Saw a 33% QA submission rate - good # of lines. Hummmmm. nm

Only require 400 lines completed within 24 hours....good company...

Good luck, I think everyone enjoys the lines from psych work. (nm)

I completely concur. Find a good one, or move on, quickly. No loyalty involved. The don't sm
have any to the MTS. NONE of them.
They want you to keep your schedule for TAT purposes but will work with you to find a good schedule
I love working there.

NO WORK at Transtech -- did no good to work the holiday for 1.5 lines, did it?
I am sure the office staff will share their PAID HOLIDAY MONIES with us who sit here with no work. This has gotten to be such a frustrating profession. I guess I need to relocate to Houston so that I can work in the office, too, and reap those wonderful paid benefits that us at-home piecemeal workers do not get.
Trying to find info on Encompass on this board, can't find any recent. sm
Anyone have any current info. Any employees out there? Give me the low-down if you can! Thanks a million.
They have at least 1 very difficult
account that is hard to get lines on. They also have a weird platform. There are 3 files for every dictation, 2 of which you have to open. They supposedly give you a percentage of lines to allow for that, but I think it is a bunch of garbage. I currently work where there is no platform, we type in Word or WordPerfect 5.1, whichever we are most comfortable with and we have a macro to put in all the demographics - all we have to type is patient's name. I don't understand if my company can make it simple why the others can't.
You didn't ask, but Precyse offshores, if they tell you something get it in writing because there is little truth in it. Communication is very poor.
Not too difficult
With someone with your mentality--like shooting fish in a barrel. (Do try to get over it.)
Very difficult to say unless
you know what the system is like, the dictators, the quality of the MTs, etc. 3.5 is not a great line rate but you can make some money if you are only filling in blanks and can get in and out of the reports pretty easy. I was offered 5 cpl once but the dictators were so horrible and the MTs so horrible and the system so slow I went broke immediately and quit. There is a learning curve obviously but sometimes you know immediately it won't get much better. Good luck! The very best way is an hourly rate but most companies not willing to pay that.
I did it! It is not that difficult...
a lot of it will probably come back to you. Allow yourself a week or so to pick up speed, but I think you will be fine.
1800 lines is easily achieved. I average 300-340 lines per hour. nm
x
Same here. It's very difficult to get anymore than 200 lph
Am considering quitting also. Have averaged 300-400 lph at any other place I've worked. I also agree with you about the emailing bit. After every update about how much work is on the system, it's ALWAYS followed by an email from the owner about a minute later telling you to either stretch more or threatening you with their PRN Program or that you'll lose the work to offshoring, etc., etc...
Have nothing against anyone there, but I very rarely ever break 200 lph working on their hospital accounts. Bayscribe definitely gives low line counts.
