    I work for Spheris, and I have no complaints. SM
    I am level 8 (I think there are 10 levels), I make 9.18 cpl. I have been with them for 6 months. Go for it.

    Yeah, I got my 1099 too.  It included the couple of thousand dollars for invoices that she's never paid me for.  She really deserves her due now, doesn't she??  On the bright side, maybe the IRS can do something with her.  Cuz I ain't paying taxes on that money she's never paid me. 
    Not only that, but I would MUCH rather work for Keystrokes than Spheris as Keystrokes doesn't

    I work at Keystrokes using a C-phone and Meditech. Admittedly, I wasn't sm

    fond of Meditech when I first started using it, but now I do not mind it at all.  You can look up patient data such as medications, prior reports, etc., which can be quite helpful.  And Keystrokes uses a formula to count the lines which I think turns out very favorable for the MT.  I don't think that must be my C-phone account, thought, because I'm pretty sure there are more than 35% ESLs!


    Good luck to you.  Don't let the naysayers get to you.  Try it for yourself and see.  It might be a great fit. 


    TO LTMT: You posted below that you work FT for Keystrokes (sm)
    and PT for Smart-Med. I work for KS and I didn't think I could work for anyone else. I thought I remembered reading something about it in the Employee Handbook when I was hired.  New handbooks are coming out this week...but just wondered if it really is OK with KS to work PT for someone else.  TIA.

    Now I know why so many people do not like these boards. I did not write anything bad or over the top. I simply stated facts. I agree with the others and will now observe but not post. This is craziness here. If someone asks a question, I guess they would rather have answers from those that do not know the real answers. Call the company if you have questions from this point out. The phone number and web site are not secret.

    No, I do not work for OSi however, as a medical Transcriptionist with 20+ years of experience and QA experience -- I have seen and heard it all -- "I cant work weekends because I want a 9 to 5 job, I want to make 100,000 a year because that is what the ads promise  -- I think that I can stay home with toddlers, and post on these boards all day"  Truth be told, it's a hard profession  -- the doctors names are not given, if you work for a compay in one state and live in another, you have to do the research  -- these advertisements that are on television promise a wonderful salary, BUT.... you have to work your butt off to get that salary  -- I have, as many of the OLDER and SEASONED MTs have seen a change in the "work ethiic"  You want to be able to have your cake and eat it too  -- MT is NOT an 8-5 Monday-Friday job -- I work for two services and am STILL barely able to make ends meet  - its not India, its not the Phillipines or anywhere else -- its learning the English language and THINKING for yourself once in a while -- "gee I can't find this or that" well, its a sad statement on our society, because when I learned to spell, I learned with phonics -- another thing that I had an advantage with in this field was that I sang from grade school and college and if I didnt "understand the translation" then I was lost  -- its NOT only typing -- its getting off boards like this and LEARNING something instead of "griping and complaining"

    Sure, if you have a legitimate complaint or a negative observation about a co., you should feel free to post it. But there are a couple of people who's sole purpose for coming on this forum is to find some excuse for name-calling and launching a verbal assault on anybody who has a different opinion. I for one don't give any credence to an opinion expressed in such an immature manner. If you've had a bad experience with a co., vent about it, but don't harp on it for the next 10 yrs. One person in particular has tried to dominate this forum with her constant ranting and raving over her personal experiences and then insulting the intelligence of anyone who claims to have had a good relationship with the same co. Get over it already and give us a break!!!! It's obvious you never outgrew being a bully, but the rest of us are sick and tired of it.

    I haven't worked for TRS for a long time, just since October, but I have found it to be a great place to work. I think everyone is an employee, but I'm not sure. You have 12 hours to complete 8 hours of work. They require 1000 lines a day and you have 90 days to get up to that speed. Lines seem to come along pretty easily. When it comes to the overseas thing, I think there is a lot of wrong and misguided information out there about it. I am happy with the decision that I made to accept my position with them.

    I have worked for Karol for just over a year and I have no complaints.  The work is good and steady, pay is always on time, and she is very laid back and easy to work for, nice person.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

    Lick the stamps was just an expression. Of course, I have more to worry about. I'm being fired by them after tomorrow because I'm refusing to sign away my legal rights. I feel it is illegal coercion to force an employee into signing documents against their own interests. The only lawsuit I could ever bring against them would be for terminal unprofessional conduct, anyway.

    I got my 1099 too, which was great, but still doesn't mean she pays in a timely fashion.

    I worked there over a year, had decent accounts, decent pay. I was IC so no idea about employee side of things. As long as you get your lines in there really wasn't a problem. I would get emails a few times a day with updates on account flow. Yes at times they ask for volunteer overtime if swamped but they also pay incentive for those extra lines, and again it was voluntary. My emails didn't get ignored, as some have stated, but I never really had a need to email them often. Good people working there, always ready to help with a sample. They have a private forum so you don't feel totally alone. They are basically split into 2 groups; DSG1 and DSG2. I worked primarily on DSG1 accounts. I did do some work on DSG2 accounts and personally I thought they were horrible dictators, but that is my only complaint. Perhaps see which you would be on before making up your mind. So why did I leave? I was doing PT work for a local clinic and they had an opening for FT. Any other questions feel free to email.

    If they HAVE work the people complain that there is too much work and if they DON'T HAVE work the people complain. Obviously the people complaining about TT not having work haven't got much experience working as an MT. You can't go out and get more work just to compensate for the slow times. TT usually has plenty of work...the hospitals get slow from time to time....DUH! It always gets slow this time of the year with the doctors taking their last vacations of the summer, people in general taking vacations,etc. Give up...go somewhere else if you don't like it. Leaves more for us.

    You have posted several things on here about what a hot mess. You are saying you are not doing. How do you know what the platforms are like and how it works? Gosh, I thought you were trying to do and coming up short, did not know you are not working on it.

    I'm not going to bash you at all because I feel the same, and you're post helped me feel better about tht. I've been with MDI for 15 years (OMG!!!) and just feel so overwhelmed right now at the prospect of having to start over completely. I've been moaning and groaning to DH about this for days but today I'm putting on my big-girl panties, as they say, and am trying to find a new attitude. Who knows how things will work out, but I've got my fingers crossed and am saying my prayers! I know it's not for everyone, and for those who are moving on, I wish you all the luck in the world. Each one of us has to do what's we think is best. I'm going to try to start thinking positively about this and you never know, in the end it could be a good thing. Putting on my Happy Face now!
    Why are you bashing this person?
    Perfect example of bashing a company (Keystrokes) for no reason whatsoever. Giving helpful info to job applicants is a bash-worthy offense now? Sheesh.

    Know your ESLs though or look somewhere else. Seriously. The benefits are great, I am never out of work. They hold you to the line count requirements (and why shouldn't they?!)

    To soapbox gal and the others who are bashing her...
    Come on now.  Have you stayed in the same MT job from day 1??? I honestly doubt it.  So truthfully what is the difference between her signing on multiple at one time and deciding after that or starting one, not liking it, ditching it, starting another, and so forth.  No difference really.  Other than that she knows she won't keep them all.  But another point is that the companies can afford to hire as many of us as they want at one time because it's not costing them any more (other than bennies IF they even offer bennies) to have 10 of us to do the job of 2 MTs or just having 2 MTs.  So more power to her!  Get real here!  It's time the tides were turned.
    One of my biggest complaints about this job is
    dealing with these people and waiting for work to be assigned. They have taken as long as 30 minutes to get work assigned and they obviously can't read. I ask for 20 minutes of dictation and they give me 35. You know, 20 means 20; 22 or 25 maybe, but they take advantage every chance they get.

    by supervisors is not about the transcription quality at all, you know, what we were hired and paid (albeit poorly) to do... it's about the B.S. demographic crap, et.al, ad nauseum, stuff that is not our job in the first place, but the hospital's.  T


    The MTSOs are so paranoid about losing an account that they're constantly BROWN-NOSING the client hospitals AT OUR EXPENSE

    I have never heard more woman being catty! Have any of you ever watched the movied called Mean Girls? I have worked with Penny and found her to be communicative, friendly, and out of her way helpful! Have you ever heard that old saying, if you don't have anything nice to say?

    Keep trakc of who you are bashing, though! Is
    crap and can't even do it cause you folks are so emotional you get the names of the companies wrong probably 50% of the time. So who are YOU fighting about?  TTS or TTD? This is what happened a few days ago with the whole mess, MTs reading ACRONYMS wrong and blasting the wrong companies, so some parties felt compelled to post defending themselves, etc. Sheesh - accuracy is our profession. Get your letters correct while you're trying to ruin a company - at least take aim and fire at the right one, OK?

    This is pertaining to work, not my home life but pretty much of a recluse because that is how I like it, love being able to do what I want and when I want. People gripe on here about their companies. I like the place I work for, have no complaints. Most can say we are all in this together. Not me. Others can get lawsuits, try to hold MTSOs responsible for every little thing going wrong in their lives, have at it. Ok, I don’t really live for myself, I have animals around here also that I care for, how about that? Hubs is pretty special also but other than that, work is way down on my priority list.
    This, too, is Obama bashing BS.

    The Obama administration has not released details of any medical records plan and likely will not before some kind of health care legislation has been passed by Congress.

    You don't start building a foundation until you know what kind of building you are going to build.
    I started with them recently, no complaints SM
    other than the week of training was only on the computer. I started production IMMEDIATELLY. I would have liked at least 3 days of guaranteed pay. It may be different for you being new though. Go for it.

    The largest number of complaints (sm)
    about companies that I see on this board are for two reasons: 1) Companies that routinely overhire and make everyone fight for adequate work but still insist on line/hour quotas being met; and 2) Companies that don't communicate well -- recruiters that are more focused on selling their particular service than listening to make certain there will be a good fit between service and MTs and supervisors who are quick to send emails to criticize an MT but are frustratingly unavailable when the work volume is low or when MTs have problems that need addressed.
    I have made 3 complaints with the online BBB and it
    did not cost a cent. It never hurts to try.
    Do you think they'd agree with the complaints, even if true?
    This is a tough situation for a company. They are really danged if they do, danged if they don't. There will be people on both sides that say that the management rep is lying. If I was a company rep I wouldn't say a word.
    I have been watching this KS bashing and hope that it never happens to sm
    my company. You are horrible, bitter, miserable people who seem to have nothing better to do than throw in 2 cents that mean nothing. I am apalled at the childish behavior of adults and profassionals.

    Long distance? All of my 32 of my employees have to provide unlimited long distance or be local to Atlanta. They all have either cable digital or Southern Bell and no one complains as it is not very expensive and does not really add to their regular phone bills.

    If you want more than 0.06 per line, you have to be willing to give and take too. MTSOs are here to make money too and I think you would be very surprised to see that we do not make as much as you think, maybe even less than some MTs.

    several months ago.  If I'm not mistaken, I believe she was let go but I might be thinking of someone else, pretty sure it's the same one though.  So much work I worked all weekend, and I wasn't even scheduled!

    Take the negatives with a grain of salt... they have been very fair with me and *never* miss a payperiod.
