Softscript line counter
Does anyone know what platform they use or if they use a platform.  How do they count lines.  Newbie and confused.  Thank you.
and the line counter is a cheat

I swear their line counter is rigged.

Does anyone on here use Sylcount line counter and can you tell me how you like it. nm
:
OSI Line Counter - Must Vent!!

I know this is probably petty, but does anyone else notice the line counter at OSi goes down every single weekend??  Do they disable it to keep us from knowing how much we've typed, afraid we might not work as much??  This is so irritating.  I like to keep track of how much I've done and this is very frustarting.  I hate just sitting here typing in the dark.

I never liked them having an external line counter..sm
when I worked for them.  I thought it was quite odd.  I like to know what I am typing as I finish each report, etc.
Softscript line counter, where did the posts go
regarding this.  We, previous and PAST, employees have a right to tell which companies rip MTs off and they are the worst.  Line counts change day to day.
New software? Hope its a new line counter
cause theirs is way off.
Can ayone tell me how the line counter work in MS Word please. nm
:
It seems they are dodging questions about the supposed new line counter they've been
nm
I agree. The line counter is a pain, but I've checked lots of reports against MS Word
nm
I know Precyse used to pay 1 line for each report; don't know if
nm
Is Precyse QA pay hourly or per line?
nm
Is it easy to get line counts on Precyse radiology accounts?? sm

anyone using dial up with radiology accts, are you getting good line counts?  i've done a search on archives and reading info about the company.  anyone else radiology-wise care to share their experience?

thanks!

I don't use my own counter
because the counts don't seem far off to me (that's why I asked how far off)... If you are talking a smallish amount you should foget about it IMHO because at least TT PAYS ON TIME and is very receptive to feedback.

Remember not all companies use the same counting formulas...
Pay is on time but they use a Word counter. sm
I agree with the OP that it is not great great pay. The accounts are not too great either. The better work is cherry-picked by the owner, and other good work given to the pets. They also pester you nonstop to work all 7 days of the week.
A counter this is quicker to access, but I've never seen anything
nm
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.

1600 is not a fair minimum requirement.  Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

Means a line is a line is a line, even if it only has one word on the line
it is considered a line.
"a line is a line" means gross line.
Gross line is a line, no matter how long or short.
Yes to old reports! Their ExText has all the regular functions except line counts are done on line
s
Thanks for the info! Do you *feel* like you make more with a gross line v. character line? (nm)

Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Keystrokes has very few accts on line using ExText. Most use Cphones/2nd line. Lots of Rad
s
Could someone help me with the figuring out of gross line versus character line? sm
I have generally been paid by character line, 65-character line.  Now, I have had job opportunities offering to pay gross line but it like 3 cents cheaper than what I am being paid now.  A few places I have read that gross line is MUCH better, but is it much better if the pay is so much lower?  Please explain how it works or equals out.  This position has offered me 6 cents per gross line - what would that equal out to in character lines?  Thanks...so confused...
Spaces are not taken into account with gross lines....a line is a line...sm

if there seven words on a line.

or two

one

or a full line of typing...all of the companies that I have worked for define a gross line as 1 inch margins, 12 pt courier font....does not matter what we type in margins or font.....we convert all reports to the 1 inch margins and courier 12 font and then count the lines.  not the blank spaces between the lines.

Hope this helps.

I left MQ for TT. The base line rate was less at TT, but overall I make more per line with the
shift differential (I work second shift) and the incentive plan (I have never once failed to make at least an extra half cent per line on incentives - most of the time a penny). I was scared to death to make that move, as I had been with MQ since back in the Transcriptions Limited days. I have to say, though, that it was the best career move I have ever made and I have never, not once, regretted it.

I hope that was of some help.
15 years ago, I charged .22 per line to big accounts. Now I have been forced down to .13 per line.
This is in part due to offshore companies, in part due to newbies coming in and underbidding to get an account but not being able to service it and then the account expecting everyone else to meet that price. The market is being driven down by many forces, and it is not pretty. I used to pay .14 per line (gross line too) and now pay my subs 0.08. It is not something I wanted to do, but something that was necessary. With only 15 MTs, I feel the squeeze more than some of the big companies out there, but cannot grow and keep up the same standards.

Healthcare in general is not the money-maker it once was, and transcription has taken a hard hit over the years.
Line counts - the lower the line count requirements
the harder the account and problems with trying to get production off the platform the company uses.
I see they pay on a VBC line. Isn't that a huge paycut from a 65-char. line with spaces? nm
x
Actually, SBC does allow it. I had my line changed to a business line and talked with a sm
supervisor who okayed it.  As long as I am listening to voice files, and not one computer talking to another, faxing, etc., it is within their guidelines.  :-)
Ask what is a line. I was offered 6 clp for a 42 black character line sm
that seemed to strange, but really it was not so bad.  Came out pretty close to a 65 k/s line at 8.5 to 9.
Line By Line...... any info on this company?
Thanks!
Any info on Line By Line Transciprion?? nt
x
Any info on Line By Line Transcription please???nt

x

A gross line is any line that has a character on it, so even if

a line just has one character on it, it is considered a line.   If you are getting 6 cpl per gross that is approximately equal to 8 cpl based on 65 characters.  Sometimes the font on a gross line can make it be less than that though.

NEVER believe the company line. Do line count for yourself.
p
Line by Line Transcription....anyone have any info?
Thanks!!!
I don't have a second phone line ... cable modem for the internet, regular line for my C-phone.

If anyone wanst to get through to me while I'm working, they have my cell phone number.

And, as I said, some accounts are using wav files -- no doubt soon all of the accounts will convert.  Hope so ... would make it easier (less expensive) to work when traveling.  :-)

Lots of good companies out there -- hope you find one that fits :)

Precyse
Am considering Precyse and would appreciate any feedback from gals/guys who currently work for this company. The good, the bad, and anything in between. Thanks.

Precyse
GO for it! I've owned my own company and worked for others. This is the classiest, best run, best paid, best benefits place I've ever found.
Precyse. sm
Is achieving a decent line count at Precyse easy to do?
Precyse. sm
I have tested with them twice, they were slow responding.  Usually when I test I get an immediate response and job offer, they are a little slow in getting back.  Would like to hear from Precyse MTs - line counts reasonably achievable?
Precyse
Been with Precyse 3+ years.  Their recruiting needs some big time attention.  They are rather selective about who they hire and quality is an issue.  In my experience, I have had no problem achieving my lines, including the bonus every pay period for lines over 12,000.  Of course I have been doing this for over 20 years!
Precyse
I am not a newbie either.  I am switching companies trying to find a fit. Precyse cheats people with 20 years or plus experience on line counts.  You are told, you will get feedback from every report, Not so, if you are very capable.  I have done a lot, a lot of lines.  Worked all day the day before I quit with all my macros, stayed focused and had 600 lines.  That has never happened to me before, even with learning curve.  I do 12-500  a day, until I met them.  I finally figured out, they don't pay for headers, so why should I do them?  I don't think they pay for footers either.  I am running back to my old job as soon as I can, at least they don't steel lines.
Precyse/MDI

I've worked for both these companies.  The platform is Webcorrect (DocQScribe).  I happen to love that platform and I managed 1200 to 1400 lines in 6-7 hours - yes, relatively easy to get.  I did all consultations and ERs (didn't like being stuck in these work types and ended up, after about 4 months, not getting any ERs).  If you didn't like the old Edix management, you probably won't like Precyse.  For the most part, though, other than a couple of snippy QA and supervisors, they're not bad.

As far as MDI goes, I did voice recognition for them for a few weeks.  The platform  I worked on was Escription - easy.  The problem is, VR doesn't pay well (about half) and it is very possible to spend lots of time on these reports.  Spent about 70% of the time on VR and the rest typing.  These folks seemed unorganized and no one was available.  If you're a self-starter, you'll do fine.

In my opinion, Precyse is the better, more structured company with much better benefits.  The pay is always on time, every other week.  If you don't like DocQScribe (Webcorrect), though, don't go there.

Good luck to you.  Wish you the best.

And I think Precyse too?
nm
Precyse does too

Precyse

Do they pay well? Annual raises?  Do they pay on time?  Do they put you on too many accounts?  Is platform fast enough?  Is their line counting system fair?

Any other comments appreciated.

Thanks

Precyse

As I said before, each MT has to find a company that fits their needs and schedule.  I've been with Precyse going on 4 years (they are only 6 years old) and love it.  Pay is good, I always have work (of course I work a split shift by choice and there is always work), and have been on the same 2 accounts the whole time.  They do not hold your hand, you have to be independent, but I like that.  I never have PC problems, paycheck problems, or problems achieving my lines.  I love their PTO account and the fact that it adds up so quickly.  I've been doing this a long time and by far this is best national I have worked for thus far.

That's my 2 cents!

Try Precyse, could get 9-10 cpl
Good benefits, too.
Precyse

anyone working for Precyse or know anything about them?  thanks
