Been with them since April
I have found the pay to be about average for the industry, but between the great platform and wonderful account I have, my line counts have greatly increased when compared to previous companies' counts. My line counts are always right on the money, the account I am on has probably 25% ESLs, but only a handful of tough ones. They ARE a nicer, kinder MT company (your description fits perfectly). I have found them to be very honest and true to their word. For now, sign me very happy camper.
april 15, I know about the 1/31 law, but...(sm)
some companies are more on the ball than others, as someone just posted in a new posting above. They got theirs 2 weeks into the new year.  Having only been with MDI-MD for a month in between jobs, I just wondered if they were a company that was on the ball and sent them sooner rather than later.  It's a moot point now with 1/31 being Wednesday. Thanks anyway.
I had been offered a job with them also in April
and did receive lots of acct specifics.  I didn't actually print it all out though.  It took forever for the acct to start and I actually ending up receiving a job offer to start the next day from another company, so I took that one instead.  Hopefully it will work out for you.
An ad here from April said FT job w/benes, but pay is said to be low and

Christmas in April

Company bonus just extended....guess I didn't need to get up at 4 AM!

Cyber-terrorists are horrible, but turned out to be a financial blessing.  Those of you who work for our company know what I'm talking about.

Back in mid-April
I was asking about MTs and NOBODY would step up to the plate and answer me. Everybody kept referring me to those mysterious archives. And I never found anything on my repeated attempts at searching them.

Is everybody afraid to talk or what?
I left in April 2008

For me, it was the schedule.  I hate to be tied down.  On top of that, I hate being tied down and working on accounts that aren't mine.  Towards the end, though, the account situation was getting better for me.  I was getting mostly my primary and only 1 or 2 other accounts.

Leading up to that was the paycut.  ASR was great in the beginning when we were getting paid regular pay for it, but when they cut us down to 70% and then took away the daily bonuses, my paycheck was pretty skimpy.  Add to the fact that I had gotten a raise in 5 years, it wasn't a hard decision.

People leave companies for all kinds of reasons.  Some we understand, some we don't.  The only one it should really matter to is the person leaving the company.  MQ was great for me in the early years, but it just went through too many changes for me.  I'm just glad I got out before the pandomonium of CBay hit.  I must have had a guardian angel looking out for me.

I have worked at Mediscribes since April 07
I have never had a problem getting paid, have always gotten immediate tech support, and cannot imagine a more competent group of people to work for. Any doubts about working for Mediscribes, please ask away. I love my job. And anybody who would like to air their complaints, please let us know how long you have been with the company. It's easy to be new and run into some problems. How you react/learn/resolve those problems defines your success with the company. It's all part of the process. Mediscribes is looking for competent, hard-working, honest team players who are secure enough with their skills to learn to type for many clinics. If you meet those qualifications, you will get regular work. SIMPLE AS THAT.
Must be an April Fool's joke!
She does say, Don't waste my time and don't waste yours.  Couldn't have said it better myself.
Thanks so much! I feel better since reading your post. I have had experience with
unreasonable QA in the past so it is nice to have a heads up in that regard. Like you, my primary interest is paid on time, good accounts and plenty of work. Sounds like OSi meets those basic requirements and that is all I need. Thanks again!
Back in April they did -- hated that platform!!
One of the main reasons I left.
Not the lowest! Was offered 2cpl back in April.

Here's how to safely post a bad experience with a company - just write "have you tried

Per job post you need ŕ-3 years of medical records transcription experience"

Read Spherson's post below, who admits, in the post, they do pay it.

Peachy, your post is interesting, but my post now is irrelevent but
A few weeks ago I went to my clinic where they had recently implemented EHR or EMR, whichever you call it, and the doctor's back was to me the whole time he and I conversed because his nose was stuck in his laptop. To me, it felt a little more impersonal, but I understand he was doing what he had to do, but it seems like the bedside manner may go to the wayside if the doctors can't even look at you when they are asking you questions or you are speaking to him/her. I know this is relevant to your original post, but just an interesting fact that I had not anticipated. Anyone else experience this?
Experience versus not as much experience
--same job should equal same pay?...Come back and talk to me in 20 years...
For the most part, old school MTs have a ton more to offer than a newbie, by virtue of the amount that they know. Most old school MTs can do just about any kind of report, because they learned the old way, they used books--Dorland's was a bible--not software and spellcheck, they worked in house, in the environment, they understand things that a new person who has only worked online with their word books, shorthand, macros and software just cant understand.. Why things are done in a certain way... Why it is so important that certain documents are treated a certain way. Why some reports are stat versus others. What you might flag for the hospital and why... When you think you know everything, esp as a newbie, you are doomed my friend.
Also, cont education is something that most old school MTs understand is a benefit for them and a gift to themselves...part of their commitment to themselves and their own education, not a commitment to being a certified MT, it is a personal thing, a standard.
If you don't understand that, I don't know what else to tell you.
Sure newbies can transcribe, it isn't rocket science, but they know what they know, if you know what I mean..(and that's about all they know) if they don't care to continue their education once they are out of MT school.
There's a little more to it than what you have stated here. If you consider yourself an MT machine.. you will burn out sooner than you think.
This is why I NEVER post my cpl. I'll post the range of
what the company pays, but NEVER what I make.  I know that I make more than probably 70% of the people there, because they know I produce a client ready report and that I can do anything they throw at me.   We don't have levels, but I guess if we did I'd be at the highest level.    Telling how much you make isn't so bad, but when people know what company you work for and then what you make that isn't a good combination.  The ONLY people I have ever discussed what I make with, are my husband and my MTSO owner.   Talking about your salary/pay is enough to get your fired in lots of companies.

One post was another "run" type of post and the
the recruiter. Once you are in with the company, the recruiter has nothing to do with you or your job. I want specifics about problems with THE JOB, not the recruiter.  Specifics such as no or late checks, line counts being messed up, no work, taking bennies away with no explanation. Things that matter, not the recruiter.
everytime you post, where ever you post
unless you go through an anonymizer, your IP address can be traced back to you, even through the guises of this web site.  There are web sites you can find on the internet to do this for you, or if you are 18 years old and like to hack, it's an easy enough thing to do.
I post a pay range, DOE; however, most don't post..
I wish some MTs would start thinking about the business aspect of the industry.  For example, this is a public site, so go to Google or another search engine and type [the co's name] and per line, and voila! now everyone knows how much you pay your MTs.
Post removed, you can re-post.

P.S. Not saying they do that to everyone - this was just MY experience
..
Your experience with them?
All the things you like/dislike.
My experience was not a bad one
It would freeze up and hard to get around in it. The accounts I had were mostly awful ESLs and mumblers...very difficult to get line counts. Mostly nice people, but doesn't mean squat if the work is bad. Good luck.
my experience with them - sm
I have 17 years experience, require very little training on new equipment, platforms, accounts, etc. Apparently, I was not what they were looking for. I had heard many similar stories from others.
Experience
That's true. Generalities are misleading. I have known MTs with a lot of experience who never had any QA or other teaching and they never got any better. As long as they typed fast, quality didn't matter to their employers.
My experience
I have worked for TransHealth and believe me run for the hills! (LOL). When I was employed there, they had a high turnover regarding their management and apparently still too from what I hear. No flexibility whatsoever, they do not seem to APPRECIATE their employees as they can be nice to you on one occasion and the next minute treat you like crap. They also don't offer nothing in way of competetive wages as they have no incentives to work extra hours or work weekends and oh when there is abundant work you hear them plead with everyone to get on but where are they when there is no work, exactly!!!!! My recommendation is to shop around and see what each company has to offer.
Same experience here, 7 yrs with MQ
c
I had a bad experience with them also. I was also
hired for Diskriter through them. All sounded great, but something else sounded better so I took it instead. I got a very rude email and was ignored after that email. Very bad business ethics!!
Has anyone else had a bad experience with
Amphion?  I am sure I am not the only one who has found out they are just like everyone else
Experience
Can anyone tell me what companies are more selective in their hiring process, requiring more experience than 1-2 years, and willing to pay for it. I am starting to feel this must be an unrealistic expectation.
What's the experience been like sm.
I have very high expectations as I have a lot of experience.  I need to know if they are nice people there.  I was told I would be working on a regular hospital, not a teaching hospital but when I got the specs for the hospital it mentions residents.  That is a teaching hospital.  The things these companies try to pull over on you.  Like I wouldn't know it was a teaching hospital right away anyway.  The pay seems poor:(  I don't know if they deserve a try or not.  The owner seems uncaring about my situation.  I don't know, I just want a nice decent place to work that pays well.
Any experience with DSG, Inc.?
nm
How much experience do they want? NM
XX
My experience..........sm
I think they are great to work for. Management is great, very helpful. Always work available. They do offer benefits, I can't tell you about them because I don't need them. There are also incentives for higher producers. Go for it!
Not in my experience
They may supply software or foot pedals, depending on the company, but I have not heard of being supplied a computer as an IC.
Any experience out there with...sm
Shaw's Keystroke Services, Rochester, New York?
So-so experience

The line Expander used by Spheris was the least of my worries. I found it extremely easy to merge my own list into theirs. Ask your TL for instructions.

Like most everyone else I had trouble getting my line count. I never got dinged for it, but then I never once qualified for a bonus the whole time I was there - 1 year. I, too, wasted tons of time looking over account specifics. Just when  you get used to one account, they throw in a new one, then you have to second and triple guess everything you do all over again. I finally quit when they threw in another work type with horrible dictators and my line count dropped by half for 2 weeks. I couldn't afford to work for them anymore.

And don't get me started about the freakin' time clock. I hated that thing.

As far as the company is concerned I liked them just fine. Management was fair and I always got along with my TL. I did have one that was witch from hell, but I don't think this is a reflection on the company. It was a personal difference between the two of us that we couldn't work out.

I wish you luck. I wasn't all that successful making many in MT. My income continued to go down each year so I left.

Any experience with...sm
