The human resource person that works there is beyond pathetic. Because of the rules of this board, I am not able to go into it further, but let's just say that I used to work on the inside at their office. I left, along with 5 others that worked INSIDE, to go work for another company.

Please tell me, am I wasting my time?
I have been looking for clinic work for 2 months now with a U.S. based company that has employee status, benefits, doesn't offshore, and little, if any VR. Am I going to go blind looking or does this kind of position no longer exist? I have over 10 years experience, tired of testing and never hearing back (I know, they are being swamped). Still . . .
Depressed doesn't come close to describing how I feel.
If there is hope, will somebody please throw me a bone?

There are jobs being off-shored in almost every industry imaginable. Call customer service or tech support for any major company, and you are bound to be speaking to someone from a different country. That is the way it is and that is the way it will continue to be now that we have worldwide communication in mere nanoseconds. You can do whatever you want, but nothing you do is going to change anything. The Internet and the telecommunication industry have created a worldwide workforce and it is here to stay!
As far as quality goes, have you ever seen some of the reports transcribed by citizens of the United States? The quality of the reports I have seen is appalling! Martians could probably produce more accurate medical reports than many people on this very forum can produce.

You dont have to explain anything to anyone on here. I would take these great points that you have had and tell them that you are in the process of looking for another job and maybe that will scare them into giving you a raise.
Telling about it on here really wont do anything unless you talk to Spheris about it.

You aren't wasting your time, you're investing in a potential "yes!"
As to why you don't get a response, it might be for one or some of the reasons below, or none of them:
a. You don't meet clearly-stated qualifications. I delete every resume or application that doesn't meet standards required. If you can't follow instructions, don't expect me to take time out of my busy day to spend time on explaining this to you.
b. You're an Indian pretending to be an American. Again, I'm not wasting Keystrokes on you.
c. Your application is filled with errors. Maybe the dead silence from recruiters is a message to go back and review what you've put out there.
d. Maybe your application got overlooked. It has happened. Email the recruiter. If you don't get a response, review a, b, and c above and e below.
e. Maybe the recruiter is swamped. There are days when 10 hours will fly by and I've hardly had time to breath. There are applications to look at, resumes to review, tests to score, interviews to schedule, paperwork to complete, interviews to do, reports to file, fires to put out, and someone has to beat the tech people/MT supe upside the head to get them to call an irate MT, who feels that YOU are responsible for her every woe and calls 6 times a day to tell you about it.
From a recruiter POV, don't put your experience on page 4 under everything else you've done. I don't care that you work in the church nursery, or that you drive bus, or that you swept floors at Mitzi's Kut n Kurl. Don't make me wade through all that to find out if you can do the job I'm trying to hire for. I suspect I've tossed good resumes because I don't have time to read someone's life story before getting to the information I need. I also don't want to know your parent's names and professions (why do Indians do this?).
So, if you don't get a response you can either call or email, or just move on. It's not necessarily a rejection of you, but rather the reality of a busy society.
Landmark harassment. sm
I know those of you who like Landmark are going to argue but I am just going to post the situation with me.
I posted before that I tried for a month to start with Landmark and they never could get me up and running. They had sent me everything for the account the FOB and the foot pedal etc. Well I sent the FOB back in a padded envelope which they say they don't have yet. They also said they sent me a UPS return label by e-mail that I never got. Apparently they pay for these labels in advance and are now harassing me about the foot pedal. I keep telling them send me a label and I will send it back. I have absolutely no use for a dictaphone foot pedal. But I WILL NOT pay to send it back. These people cost me a ton of money in a month.
It just surprises me that people can act like this. It has gotten to the point of harassment. I sent my final e-mail to them a bit ago and told them to send me a UPS label and I will send back the foot pedal. As far as the FOB, it went back, I can't track the mail for crying out loud. Anybody got any ideas?/ This is getting ridiculous.

A turnover in managers,QA, leads, even recruiters can make an impact and happens all the time, so you never know; old info - grain of salt. newer info more reliable and needs to be found while considering.

Instant text and OSI
When I was there about six months ago, I used IT and it worked fine. You need an expander to make any money there....and still not easy to make with the system/amount of demographics you have to enter.

I use Instant Text with EXText without a problem.
I believe the EXText software is better than some, and certainly better than DocQScribe.
I think the pay is fair -- the more difficult accounts are paid at a higher rate.
The real problem with OSi is running out of work due to overstaffing, even with backup accounts. The flip side is the bonus program for high production when the account falls behind. Seems like am employee stability problem for some reason I can't figure out.

I could not stand being on Instant Messenger 24/7. They drove me nuts. I could never get a break. I felt like they were watching me like a hawk. I do not like instant messenger when I am working. I refuse to accept a job using IM. The office manager never was around. Always was on cruises. Had to deal with the staff. They were nice, however.
I'm trying to use Instant Text.
I also have the the Saving Keystrokes book, but am so busy, don't have time to check it all out. I used to do macros back before Windows was born, but now cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do any that work.
Hopefully, when the work is a bit more caught up, I can spend some time with the book.

I tried that with Dragon, too. Major waste of time and money. If only I had bought Instant Text then, instead of Dragon. The best way to make money in this business is to become the absolute master of Instant Text. In less time than it takes to INSTALL Dragon, you will be using Instant Text with ease. My productivity increased massively the very first hour! It's a great investment. I really, really need to reduce the mileage on my wrists, so I decided to give IT a shot, and it's working!

Okay, when I use Instant Text in Bayscribe, it will not capitalize after the colons, and this is so irritating. Does this do this to you? Also, for some reason, sometimes it will capitalize after a period and sometimes not. There seems to be a glitch. I called tech support at Instant Text and I updated with the latest revision but it is still sporadically not capitalizing after the periods. I have both Bayscribe and Instant Text set to capitalize after a period. Are any of you having this problem? It is costing me a bunch of time and not to mention causing a lot of frustration.

I purchased IT from another MT on this forum and I love it! She sold it to me for $95, plus $5 shipping, so that was around $85 off the retail price. I always buy my software this way, and I check ebay also.
I like IT because most of the macros (glossaries) are already pre-loaded, versus having to make every one yourself. It will also continue sentences and you pick the right phrase, or you can customize your glossaries. It takes a little time to learn it all because it does so much, but it is worth the investment, in my opinion.

InstantText has a forum you can go to to address this problem as I have just recently had this very same thing happen to me. I only resolved it when I went to the link provided in the form to download a revision of IT Pro.

Are you on the email group for Instant Text? If so I just sent out an email today with some commands. You can reply to that so I know your email at work. I think since you are on Chartmatrix, you might not be in that email group. You can do reply by email here but I actually have an older email on here-- but tell me you are emailing me and I will check that one. Does anyone out there using Instant Text have problems with it? I have used IT for years and recently upgrade to Pro Version 5.23, using with WP 12 and Word 2000. Just within the last couple of months I have been having trouble with IT just unlinking itself with WP or Word, whichever I'm using. I swear I'm not doing anything but just typing away; I'll type a shortcut and it won't expand and I'll notice that IT has unlinked itself. I have written to IT and they have basically told me they don't know what's wrong, that it must be my computer. I've gone on their website and upgraded the fix for WP 12 users and all and I'm still having that problem. Another problem I'm having (and I'm sure there's got to be a setting that I don't know about) is that when I go online to research something (while I'm working/typing MT stuff or whatever), IT will automatically link itself to the internet, etc. Anybody have any suggestions to help me out? Thanks, I appreciate any help. Maybe it IS my computer, but if anybody else has had this problem please let me know if you and how/if you were able to fix it. Thanks again.

Try www.worldstart.com and ask one of their techs in the message board if they can help you. This site is great for all kinds of computer problems. They have helped me quite a few times and it is free. They also will tell you if you want to know the best antivirus, popup blocker, etc to use and most of them are free. Good luck.

I, too, have used AutoCorrect exclusively for the last 2 years and have been able to do very well on my line counts; however, after some recent research into Instant Text I ordered it (and actually just received today). While I have not had time to use it yet, I really like the fact that it has WAY more capability than AutoCorrect. I can't wait to experiment with it and believe it will prove to be a worthy investment when I learn all of its possible functions.
