Pay? Support? Platform? Accounts?

In Reply to: I personally have posted lots of details - me
I have not seen any real specifics, but I understand about wanting to inform prospective employees and share your dislikes. I am being asked to submit a schedule at the interview when I don't know a tootin' thing about what I'd be getting into.

MDI-Florida has some accounts on this platform....sm
Good luck with your job search!
It's not just the platform and accounts that slow you down.
I haven’t worked for WebMedX for a couple of years, but the numbers I had to work with then were as follows (DISCLAIMER: Just as I was leaving, they were thinking about totally revamping their bonus system, so the numbers below are probably not currently accurate, but will give you some idea of what WMX thinks their MTs are capable of):
140 lines per hour average minimum. New employees placed on 90 day probationary status to learn platform and account specifics. Expected to reach 150 lines per hour average after 4 weeks. Line defined as 65-character line, which includes all body characters and spaces inclusive of formatting characters such as bold, italics, underlines, caps and tabs. Header and footer characters are not included in the line count.
Bonus paid as follows (in addition to your base pay per line):
Average lines/hr Bonus per line
160 to 180 = .0015
181 to 220 = .0030
221 to 250 = .0050
251 to 275 = .0075
276 to 299 = .0100
300+ = .0150
This is for the average for the entire two week pay period, so if you have a really great day and hit 500 lines per hour, then have several really bad days at 100 lines per hour, they take the average over those two weeks.
HOWEVER, if you fall below 140 lines per hour average, they DEDUCT pay:
0 to 124 = - .005
125 to 139 = - .0025
WMX is definitely looking to make a profit, so my way of thinking is they feel confident in offering a bonus that will not affect their bottom line and, as far as they are concerned, not going to be achieved by the majority of the MTs working for them. In fact, when I left, many MTs were complaining that they were no longer getting the same bonuses as they had just a few months prior and they were MTs who had worked for WMX for several years and were already very familiar with the platform and accounts.
As far as getting back up to speed, there are several factors that prevent smooth transition. First, you are on 100% QA review for the first couple of weeks, at least, and depending on the Editors you get, you may have to completely rethink what you have learned before. Then, there is the dreaded time clock. It is totally automatic. From the minute you log on to get your first report, you are on the clock. If you stop to look up a drug or find a new surgical instrument, your line count is affected. They tell you to log out for everything when you are not actually typing. That means even 2 minutes to stretch or go get a drink from the kitchen. Next, they seemed to have a lot of platform slowness. There were times when you could sit for a minute or more just to switch from the demographics page to the actual transcription page, or when trying to release the report. Sometimes, the platform would just freeze altogether, and you had to reboot. And they do periodically run out of work, depending on the accounts you have. So, if you want to keep your line count up, you have to keep logging off, which makes an 8 hour shift turn into a 10 to 12 hour day. Some people with families just don’t have the time for that. Not to mention, if they are in overtime, if you already have to put in a 10 hour day to get an 8 hour shift in, overtime will probably have to be on your days off. Also, most of their accounts are now going to ASR/Speech Recognition, and that system has many bugs left to be worked out that has caused many MTs to complain that they are not making as much money as they were before.
I am sure there are WebMedX MTs just itching to correct me and let you know how great WMX is. The above are my personal observations/opinions while working for them, just to give you another perspective.
Good luck.
Keystrokes accounts have more than one platform
Every account has a different platform (it depends on what the client wants to use). Some use ExText (which both of mine do), some Meditech, and some are on other platforms that use a C-phone.
Of course the bottom line is that with the new platform anyone anywhere can get into all accounts in
all offices so it really doesnt matter where you are. I think MQ is probably just going to dump everyone into accounts that are behind and totally eliminate overtime or any kind of bonuses, etc. That is already in place in the NE so just a matter of time.
I'd like to know the bad platform and which accounts run out of work. I'm supposed to have bac
accounts to work on...Please email me.. I cant afford to work on the Mojave Desert LOL
Phoenix Medcom-Ortho accounts..Pay, platform, etc..
How are they to work for also. Any information would be appreciated. I have 10 years of ortho experience and was thinking of applying..
Does JLG have nice accounts to work on and is their platform user friendly.
:
Current information on WordZXpressed, how they are to work for, accounts, platform etc.. anyone??
Thanks for any input you may have.
Pay always on time, platform is easy, they've always been nice to me, do have several accounts to
avoid running out of work. I do MT and QA.
Easy platform, assigned accounts, always plenty of work. Great OM and boss. nm
try transriptiongear.com's tech support. They do gearplayer tech support whereever you bought yo
transcriptiongear.com
Strictly IC, good company, hard accounts, good platform.
Good pay, always on time, no direct deposit though.
Maybe it was just directed to the people on specific accounts or a specific software platform. nm
nm
RISS is not a platform. RIS stands for Radiology Information System. The platform sm
would be EXText.
MDI-MD platform is fast, not full of problems like Transcend platform or MDI-FL
On Transcend platform you have to click, click, click all day and still get errors, change screens constantly - its a nightmare to work in.
Are they losing accounts. Do most of their accounts stay for long period of time. I have
heard pros and cons about the quality of their work. I guess it is much cheaper than other companies can offer.
Yes, SPi does use this platform....it's a great platform, but not worth working for SPi. nm
#
Because the girls that monitor the accounts in the office were told the accounts either go on DQS or
move on. All accounts to be with MQ must be on DQS and no more different platforms. ONE ONLY DQS. They can send more work overseas then.
MDI-FL but not all accounts. Only the internet-based ones. C-phone accounts are fine.
So, yes, let me clarify before everyone gets in an uproar.. There is work IF you want to use a C-phone. IF you signed up for an account that is internet-based, you will be disappointed. Not enough work to go around. Just my personal preference.. I have no desire to do a dial-up C-phone account using my long distance.
Some do and have good accounts and fully loaded ESL accounts
Take a look at what is happening in India. For the first time, workers there have money to get themselves into debt by buying high priced items (cars for example). They now protest lower castes being allowed into universities at almost double the previous allowance. Wait until they are highly in debt, begin to feel entitled to a wage equal to that paid inthe US and then, try to form unions, get tossed out into the street and sit back with some Ben and Jerry ice cream and watch the economy collapse and all that dictation come back across the ocean. Timing is everything.
Find out which accounts they are hiring for. They have some ESL accounts that are extremely
difficult to do. I dont know how many accounts they have altogether but as I say, a few are very difficult and I actually dont have a problem with ESLs but these accounts are almost totally ESL. I dont do them anymore.
Well it sounds like no work happens a lot at DSG. How are the accounts as far as decent accounts
and their QA.
Bad Platform. I personally know of 3 MTs who left because of the platform.
If you are like me, the bottom line is wages and what I get in my check. I have never worked for Amphion, but I personally know of 3 MTs who worked part-time at Amphion before quitting their other service to see what Amphion had to offer before it was too late. All 3 quit Amphion and stayed with their other service because of the Amphion platform. Too hard to make any decent lines.
Something to think about.

Here is one post from a couple days back:

To all of us trying our hardest to grab our work when it is available, and then still only make 24 bucks a day because of the garbage platform.
Different accounts have different platforms. Most accounts require sm
high speed but I am not sure if satellite is OK.
I don't think that they're hiring right now. I spoke with my lead on Thursday, who said they are focusing on making sure everyone has enough work and moving PTers to FT, eventually moving towards FT only with only weekends as PT. Not 100% sure when that is though.
Hmm..well it goes to show how different it can be between accounts. My "high" ESL accounts s
at WMX are pretty easy in my opinion as well. I wish I had a better answer for you. Hang in there if you can. You have to do what is right for you.
Thanks for the support
Wow, thanks everyone. Working at home alone sometimes you don't wonder if it's all your imagination. And no, doesn't start with a P -- it's Webmedx.
Thanks for the support... you are right!
They already got in trouble once. An Indian employee was holding patient information in an extortion attempt for money from the company. I guess they didn't learn their lesson.
That's why they got US MTs in the first place, to land the big accounts. Once they start slipping away again and they need new accounts, we'll see them posting hiring bonuses. LOL!
I support you in this
and just sent a letter to the appropriate instructor in the sociology department at our biggest university. I will send it out to some other sociologists over the next few days. Thanks for suggesting this.
thanks for the support!
She got me on the wrong day. I just resigned today, and cried while I was typing the letter. I am not a fighter, and have never gotten into it with anyone on these boards, but she jumped down my throat, acting like I was a thief. I will ask my supervisor if it is alright, if not, I won't bother, just make new ones. However, they are my expansions, ones that I painstakingly made up over the last few years trying to keep my income up with all the changes. I was not a cheerleader the last few years, but I hung in there by my fingernails thinking things would get straightened out and get better or at least somewhat back to where we were, not worse. My income has dropped by $150 to $200 a week. I don't know many people who can afford that, and I know I can't anymore. I don't think its going to change anytime soon except maybe for the worst, but for the MTs there, I pray it does.
US Support????
In two years with Focus I had contact with only ONE support individual that was US based. I stayed for wo years so no, it was not as bad as some would lead you to believe, but to say the support staff is US based is misleading at best.
Support
Actually, it's nice to know there's some support out there from fellow employees. Nobody in this discussion got me personally riled up. I was more riled up and concerned than when I came on this board and read the discussion, so it did me some good. We mostly just want some reassurance from you MDI-MD veterans that this isn't the norm. I'm appreciative of all the suggestions from my fellow employees, even though I'm a newbie to MDI-MD. The liaisons sound like they're pretty understanding and will work with you, so that works for me. :)
Thank you for your support.
You know what, I don't understand any of this and kind of confused right now. But thanks a lot for your support. I have done cardiology reports for quite a long time and worked at Cardiology Clinic, where that is all I did 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. This is what they were testing for. So, I really do believe I did very good on test. I know all the medications without looking anything up in reference books. Also I have transcribed hundreds of echocardiograms and stress tests, etc.
Anyway, I am not going to fret over this. In fact, Keystrokes just called and would like to offer me a position with their company. So, who cares about MD-IT. Also Keystrokes is starting me at higher rate of pay. Maybe this was a good turn of events that I got turned down by MD-IT, because look what happened. I believe that sometimes we do not always understand things that happen, but in the long run things usually work out for the best. I am definitely an optimist in life and try to always look on the bright side. It helps in this line of work.
Thank you everybody who had positive things to say and for your support.
Thanks for the support. This is what I think
When I started with the Q, I had an office with humans I could go to for things. I actually got 2 days of really good training on the accounts I had and could call someone and get a live question answered at that moment. They could even listen in on something and help me figure it out if I couldn't understand.
You know what it is now. I never had a dread at working for the Q until the last year or so. Now it is severe irritation when I log on because I have used half my PTO up due to no work and all. When I emailed my supe a couple weeks back about no work, he said oh it is just because of the weather. I am sorry, I have been running out of work for the last MONTH straight. It is February. I have never had no work on these accounts in February. EVER--in over 9 years.
I wouldn't care if I wasn't required to put in the hours. I would go do something else. But here I sit and I hate that more than anything.

Hi
You sound like you are so happy at your new job. I am feeling so discouraged at mine and really want to quit. Do you know if your company is hiring? I have lots of experience. Would really love to hear from you either way.
Thanks,
Discouraged Debbie
Support?
Are you SERIOUS??? Two years ago they had a terrific support group, now you're lucky if you get called back within half a day...There was one instance where I had to upgrade a program, it was mandatory, and I called support. This person talked to me and asked to sign on to my computer (standard procedure). They then asked that I stay nearby my computer in case of questions on their part. Well, I did that and after an hour and nothing happening, I gave up. Called shortly after and was told the person was at lunch!!! Can you believe this??? Mind you, this was one of my days off (I purposely did this because I knew how much work I would lose on one of my regular days). I was told it would take up to an hour, well after it all had been done, it took over 3! Yeah, some day off. It was almost like they were chatting with other people in the office or on the phone, or SOMETHING, cause they would never respond to their prompt for the next step for minutes at a time. I was very irritated by it. I absolutely cringe when support is needed at TT and avoid it at all costs!
Thank all of you for your support!
I appreciate every kind word. It helps me knowing that you have all been where I have been.
I am so fortunate to get the opportunity to work for TransTech. I have heard so many great things and part of me can't wait to dive in but the other part says don't let go. I have been so darn loyal to the Q and they never cared.
I hope Transtech appreciates my loyalty. I want this to be my last job change!
Thanks again.
Thanks to all of you for your support. s/m
It makes me feel very humble. I never back down and they have made me ANGRY. I'm not sure if I will have to attend court in Texas or not since I haven't lived there in 20 years but if I do, so be it.
Good support when I need it
Precyse has set up an excellent system through IM and what they call MT Mentor. Not only can you get instant messages for STAT, but get feedback on reports requested. "Fill in the blank" has never been so rewarding.
tech support
The tech support is very good and very reliable at Spheris. A nice solid company.
They are also in support of TRS training
women in Trinidad to do transcription, so I'm sure more work will be leaving the states. I was not going to accept their offer anyway because the line rate was 2 cpl less than what I was currently making, but then when I asked if they offshored the recruiter reluctantly said they did if they client requested it. Now who in their right mind thinks that CyMed, or any other company for that matter, goes into a facility to sell their service and says we offshore to xx country, would you like them to do your work?
Thank you for caring. We need the support right now. nm
