This was years ago way before P&G even owned Revlon. It's not like my sister wore a white coat and created cosmetic formulas. She was a RECEPTIONIST!!! The Suits at P&G told her to make a choice because they didn't need an employee working for the competition...Give me a break!
BTW, the ONLY reason my sister even sold the MK was so she could get it 1/2 price.

I deliver high-quality, high-production 40 hours, and outside of that I still don't have enough hours in the day to devote to my non-MT life. Amphion would be a terrible match for me, but I'm glad there are others who can live up to the overtime demands.

This is a rumor started by someone for absolutely no reason. There are a few companies out there who have approached Keystrokes about selling and have been turned down. A few have been very agressive and do not like to hear the word no.
The company has been growing steadily for the past 10 years and has agressive growth plans in place for the next 5 years.
If you have any questions, contact one of the owners or member of the management team directly. They will answer your questions.
This is just another example of someone trying to stir the pot.
Not every company is for sale, at any price. Although that may change in the future for the owners of Keystrokes, right now they enjoy growing the company and improving on what they have built. It will be several years before the idea of selling would be entertained.
AMEN sister..Better yet. why dont we just do it for free, donate our time to a good cause.

Junie, why are you still there to type their reports? You are working for free and they are stealing. This is an ethical, as well as legal issue. This is no different than you walking in Bloomingdales, taking a coat, and saying I'll pay you when I get around to it. That's stealing and so is not paying you for a service you provided. Stop typing and start looking elsewhere as this is proof of their integrity. Can't you see the writing on the wall?
Star Stop works better than express scribe. If you want start Stop, yea it is kind of sm
expensive. I wish they did pay their QA hourly as I think they would see better quality work, but they per line and it is higher than the other person posted.
I have never had a problem with management, so I am unfamiliar with what the other person experienced with management.
Pay is always on time (most of the time early). I like the software. I guess you just have to see if it fits for you.
Guess we all can't be put on good accts. Gotta be there at the right time. Both of my accts.

You have the power to change your work situation. You can make a phone call to be put on a different account. You can quit your job and find one with a platform and workload that suits you. In the meantime, don't begrudge management for what few little perks they may get. What kind of person are you to do that? I'm sure they worked hard for it. It's not like a day at a local spa even compares to the MT convention in Hawaii or whatever it was.
As for finding a lump, thank you, I've already had that happen this year on top of everything else I've been through. So thank you for mercilessly wishing it upon me. Your wish is granted. You know what it taught me? Life's too short to be miserable. Fix what you can and don't dwell on the rest of it. Put your stressors into perspective or you'll wind up sick from it. Or dead. I quit my lousy job to find something better. It's amazing how much better your entire life and outlook is when you take active steps to fix things that are not going right. You've got the power to do it.

Anyone else forced to become an employee
I'm an IC for Focus and got a letter this week that we have to become an employee instead of IC by the first of the year due to state regulations - anyone else heard of this? I want to know what these regulations are! I'm waiting to hear their explanation.

on beyondtxt and you are forced to take a pay cut, and when you are sitting there with no work because the Indians are doing it cheaper, are you gonna come on this board and say how great it is?
You know, eventually when the Indians are doing 40% which is the goal for the *forseeable future,* they will probably hire the Indians to also be Team Leads at a lot less pay... Just some food for your happy thoughts.

As far as I know this is still the USA and you do have the right to freedom of speech. No one can make you feel any way. You can choose to feel victorious and strong for having spoken your mind. You did a very courageous thing to speak your truth and I for one support you. You are a brave and ethical woman. I see no bravery or ethics on the part of Heartland. Or maybe we should rename them HeartLESS?

Yes they are in the same area you mentioned. If you have been with a national in the past, this is different as everything has to come directly from the hospital and if they take extra time, there isn't a lot KS can do..I'd suggest contacting (can't say names here) but the director of client services, she is great!, and if there is anything that can be done to speed up the process, she'll find a way. I think sooner or later MTs will be forced to grow
backbones, because as the pay for MT work edges ever closer to 0 cpl, there comes a point where the MT will leave altogether or turn around and start swinging both fists. For quite a long time now, I've believed that the truth is, MTSO's don't really WANT the more costly American MTs. The sooner they can drive us all out, the sooner they'll have the excuse they've been waiting for in order to be able to just pack up and take it all overseas. Companies who actually want to RETAIN good employees just don't treat them the way MTs are treated.

Sad but true. You're asked to work NOW, then asked to stop NOW, then go again and then stop
If you dont get off the minute the hospital asks, even if you have no idea that they have requested that your to be off, then the hospital MTs steal your work right out of your queue and I mean reports you have already done. I dont understand the concept of having a contract with a hospital and then having to fight for work with the hospital MTs. We should have guaranteed work during our shift and enough of the the hospital wants you to help right now and then a few hours later they want us to stop working as the work is too low. It is crazy and I couldnt work like that so I had to quit.
The MTs can't be forced to work over 40 hours in a week
unless paid OT pay. If the work is not getting done, maybe they need additional help on the account or MTs who can actually do the work in a reasonable time to stay in TAT.

If you're being coerced into signing such as agreement in your current/ongoing job, you can file for unemployment in some states. Only if you are asked to sign at the beginning of new employment is it OK and the employer explains that these documents will be an annual part of paperwork updates. That's why they want us to reapply for the jobs we've had for quite a while--to get around the fact that we are not newbies but need to look on paper as if we are. However, we haven't been formally dismissed from jobs we have now, in order to reapply to keep same job. You also have to agree to a criminal background check and give them access to your credit bureau file, which is now for them. Best of luck to all SPI, ex-SPI, and future SPI MTs.

Digital Dictation Services - MARY GLEASON, Stiff on Payment, BEWARE
This is a sole proprietor, who will let you try out for a couple weeks, and then stiff on payment. She is all nicey nice in the beginning but look out, she will rip you off big time. Do not work for unless you like working for nothing.
Difference in selling and just closing down
I can understand if there were legal issues regarding the sale of a company, but rumor has it that QT is just calling it quits, I would not think there would be any legal reason not to tell anyone, maybe they are just trying to prevent the MTs from leaving before the account has terminated. Still from what I read, most of the MTs would not go until the account was gone and the doors were shut, so I think it would more professional if QT told their transcriptionists what was going on.
No mention of selling, just that they won't have work for for me

you just might find another job which you think is better, and guess what, you've made a mistake and want to go back. By then you are stressed out and sorry for second-guessing. They have a separate department for technology, used to be Lanier, and they keep it separate. It is the same as using WebChartMD or EmDat. We pay what we use.
So, then, you're selling your knowledge
More output for the same pay means nothing more or less than that each line of knowledge (because that's what it is) is going for a lower price.
The value of VR to the client should not be price, but time. When price is the value proposition for VR, knowledge is being offered at a discount. It is positively idiotic for MTSOs to sell VR using price as the value proposition. The appropriate value proposition is TIME because VR should permit shorter turnarounds.
The question is, do MTSO's actually charge less for lines produced by VR? I'm not sure. If they do, they're giving away the store (and forcing the knowledge workers to discount their input).
