Has happened all week long. Think I got a total of 4 hours yesterday. My STM said we were down 750 dictation minutes for some reason this week. She had no idea why. I have 8 different accounts I pull from.

Exactly..who mails checks anymore. Even back in the day at work, every other Friday
our supervisors would pass out pay checks. Another thing...I think the OP is just trying to stir people up again, but why????
I work for 2 … gives a little bit of security for those "run out of work" times. nm

Yes, that would probably work. My experience was that they would download work to you at night and it was available that evening and through the next day. Like I said, you kind of make your own schedule within the window of time they need it back. You may need more than one doctor though if you want 6 hours of work per day of steady work. I had 4 doctors, one that dictated 1 1/2 hours a day and one that dictated every other day but had 5 hours of work each time. It varies by who you have for doctors. You can make them aware that you would like that many hours and they can accomodate it I'm sure. Only one thing you need to know though is NO DIRECT DEPOSITS and they use snail mail unless you pay to have it expressed.

I've got work available at almost all times of the day,
but I am on Lanier accounts. I think the wav accounts have a lot more people on them fighting for the work. Maybe there are people on your accounts doing way above their commitment. That would throw things off all around. Perhaps you should inquire about it. If you try all times of the day and still don't find work available, they should give you another account. Good luck. I know it is frustrating running out of work. I have other accounts that do that and it gets so tiresome. Some days I just hate this whole industry. These tight TATs are the root of all the work flow problems. 
I've been out of work 2 times today
7 a.m for 1-1/2 hours, and now. I don't count the 1 or 2 reports that slip in. I've worked exactly 3-3/4 hours today in my 8 hour shift.
I quit twice. Both times for the same reason...low/no work. nm

The problem is they ARE telling their MTs what times to work.
I have had MTSOs try to tell me that I had to work between such and such hours. I see it in ads all the time that they want to work 3-11 p.m. or something like that. That is what the problem is. Can they dictate shifts when it is an IC position? What is the point of being an IC if you are stuck to a set schedule. Might as well be an employee somewhere and get benefits to go along with it.
Work can be really low at times and I find the sound to not be the
best but it is not any worse than a lot of the other places.
A lot of times, if they need extra help, they will over 1-1/2 times our regular rate. sm
This is the equivalent of OT but you get it even if you have not done 40 hours already. I have also received AmerExp gift cards a few times for incentives offered. I think it depends on the account.
I do know for sure that they are working on an incentive program but I have no details and not even sure if they are still looking at it.
I do know for sure that I make more $$ with Keystrokes than I have ever made anywhere else.
She clearly said several times that she starts her shift, gets work as it comes in, and then stays
on and types at night or whenever she feels like getting the work to meet her goal. I don't even work for Transcend NOW, but read her clearly post over and over how she meets these numbers. She works WHENEVER she can to meet her goal if the work is NOT there during her scheduled shift. What is so hard about understanding that? Yes, some MTs are allowed to do that at Transcend, so she's not doing anything wrong. TO REPEAT: She works her shift, typing what comes, making good use of her down time in the meanwhile - think she does chores or something. If there is no work on her set shift, she stays on at night and grabs the work she can to meet her GOALS.
The only time I work OT, they offer 1-1/2 times my line rate which is OT pay IMO. sm
I rarely, rarely work OT though as I have kids in sports and a husband who works strange hours.
I know this question is asked a million times but who is good to work for
anymore? I have 13 years experience and I work at a hospital part time but I know I can make more on production plus I need the flexibility because I have osteo in my back and other health problems that require me to kind of break it up if you know what I mean. I'd only like to work 4 to 6 hours a day, make a decent line rate, and have flexibility of having a span of time within which to get my lines done. I don't need benefits but do not like IC status; I prefer statutory. Any ideas?

Sorry if that sounds selfish, but I don't think new hires want to come on board and find the pickings are slim right now either.

There is no reason for me to lie about this.
I am NOT talking about offshoring, but the company whom they outsource to may offshore . . . I have no idea about that. But straight from the horse's mouth, they have outsourced to a small MTSO before.
You can notice how the work dries up all of a sudden when they turn it over to the service and we have no work.
TT mgmt may not tell that they outsource today, but they definitely told me about 9 months ago when I asked when the work was low. From the way the jobs disappear occasionally, I think it happens quite often.

I do not want to post the name of this particular company but has been on this board several times. You do your days and times and then nothing. I have bills to pay and wish the companies could get our money to us just like we are there to type their reports.

Depends on the account. Work on VR lately has been slow. Just like all companies, we have slow times
Honestly though, I have only had 2-3 times in the past 2 years where it was like the other day...no work... It did pick up later but I just think it's important not to make someone think we're overloaded with work all the time. That would not be fair to them if they end up with high expectations.

I wish that people who get into this profession would understand that hospitals operate 24/7/365. My daughter is a registered nurse and does not demand a m-F schedule and YES she does have children. You got into this profession because of having kids at home and wanting to be a stay at home mommy. Well, 30 years of experience under my belt and most of the companies that I have spoken with allow me to work the hours that I want to work because of the fact that in general, I put in 12 hour days and even work weekends and dont take a day off unless I need to, due to illness or whatever and also, due to the fact that if I do have an emergency, I let someone know in advance and just not refuse to work

Get a grip you all, have a cold one, and mellow out! geez. some of Y'all are just LOOKIN' for an argument and if you can't get one going, you'll start one! sick *o this stuff. I had Vonage Friday of last week and
I work for MDI and use Charter. I don't know if my problem was with the cable or with Vonage, but I would be at the end of a job and the Vonage phone would just cut out...sometimes staying connected, just not operational for a little bit (30-60 seconds), or worse, it would just cut off and I lost the job. The job got stuck in never-never land and I could not get it back to finish transcribing it. One job cost me almost 100 lines. So, on Tuesday I got Charter's ULD...the independent sales rep gave it to me for $15/month.

so hopefully I'll hear back by the end of next week. I'm really interested in doing clinic notes so I hoping I did well enough.

He specializes in this field and knows the laws of companies versus IC status. He is a long time friend of the family so it won't cost me much and well worth every penny of whatever I do have to pay.
Monday-Friday, First Shift?
Does anyone know of companies that have accounts with Monday to Friday, first shift positions? Personal obligations do not allow me to work weekends or evenings and so many companies want this. If I could do it I would, but it is not possible, and they all seem to want weekends and second or third shifts. I really need to find something. Any help greatly appreciated.
I am hoping for Friday but it could be Monday. sm
The pay period just ended yesterday. With over 400 employees it might be difficult to get it all done by Friday but I sure am crossing my fingers!

Partly company, where most get on Saturday via direct deposit. I just happen to have a very friendly bank who posts the minute the get it and 1 a.m. on Friday. So sorry. We all need to get our pay on time.

Mine has been in the bank midnight Friday and
I have promised to pay some bills Saturday morning! I sure hope that I don't get into trouble over this. I know they say we don't get paid til Monday, but if the money has always been there before, why should we assume different! I will be in some real trouble if the money is not in the bank midnight tonight. The bills don't wait til the weekend is over the money is due now. Why would they not communicate a problem with us? Before I have a fit, I am going to assume it will be there. Why assume the worst if they did not say anything right? (she asks nervously).
Agree with you. Payday is Monday, this is the Friday..
before payday. Some people will whine about anything. As I said before, plan your finances better and you won't be relying on DD. Why don't you call payroll and whine to them, see what they tell you?

Getting afraid of waking up on Friday/Saturday
Every weekend now, a flurry of e mails how we better work the weekend or find something else. I am downright weary. What about all those times we did not have any work, or when there is no work when we are scheduled. Double standard here but not for the MT. When you say jump I need to ask how high. Sorry about this, but I am wanting to avoid my e mail come the weekend. The threats are just too much for my stomach.

Does anyone know of a company who hires full time transcriptionists for Monday-Friday? I have years and years experience and am tired of working the weekends! Your help will be greatly appreciated!
Mine has ALWAYS been in my bank on Friday, if not before, from Transtech, so absolutely different
This pay period is different. My bank is such a good bank, so it is NOT the bank. I called my bank and a DD is not even pending from Transtech. New payroll person inhouse may want to save TT $$$ by holding off on our pay. Things are changing at TT every day now. It has been SO GOOD for over a year. Sigh . . . .
