Or maybe it has to do with timing and needing MTs and

paying what it takes to get them.  You have to remember to that I am an SE so I have to pay my own taxes and also in order to get 10 cents per line, I had to be full time.  Part time I think started out at 7.5 cents per line.

Part timing
What about those who can produce many lines just part time would those kind of people be considered? I don't have to particularly work an entire 8 hours to do a lot of lines.
I think it was experience and timing sm
I know that I was told that resumes like mine don't come across her desk very often and I have heard that before. She talked to me and asked me a few questions. She seemed to like my answers.

Given that I have been there only this week, am on the new big account everyone is talking about, and have a secondary that I worked all day (one as good as another to me), I have been off QA on the one since my second day and off QA on my secondary after just today AND I have met my production quota...it was validation for the recruiter.

Someone said to quit bragging or making others think it is all so easy. I have many years of experience in just everything there is. I don't generally check my work for anything other than spelling and I am fairly fast on top of that. It has NOT all been so easy!!!!! I have worked extremely hard to get to this point. It has literally been blood, sweat and tears.

The other thing here is that Transtech is the very best company I have ever worked for. This says a lot because I have worked for about 50 different ones, including several large nationals, in my time. The QA people are not only not judgmental, they are endearingly kind and thoughtful. It is like working in a family atmosphere. When you have that kind of pleasure in your work, when the very work itself is pleasant and plentiful, it makes you want to excel...and you will. I certainly did.

I hope I never have to work anywhere else.
Bad timing for this question
Acusis has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth right now. After having cut Editor wages, they reassured transcriptionists that it was not happening to them, only to turn around and cut MT pay by roughly 10%. The typable work is either offshored or VR, so you are left with the crud. The range seems to run around 7-9 cents a line depending on the difficulty level of the account, but you really work for that 9 cents and they lowered the level for some of what had previously been among their difficult accounts.

Work seems to run out on Sunday and Monday, occasionally stretching into mid week during daylight hours, but other than that, it's usually pretty good, although, obviously, if they're hiring more people that may change.

Most of the people are decent in the chain of command until you get up to the parrot level. Tech support is, of course, not in Omaha. They have been in the midst of rolling out new upgrades to their platform seemingly weekly, each of which seems to screw my computer up a little bit more and more. The platform was originally simple, but it seems like with each upgrade, it becomes a little less user friendly. A lot of their upgrades and mandates seem designed to get a foot into my computer's inner workings, and while I understand their need for at least some knowledge of what goes on inside my CPU, others have felt a bit intrusive. There are benefits, but I've never been able to afford them so I can't tell you if they're any good or not.

Anyway, except for being big fat ninny-ninny liars, I don't suppose they're much worse than anyone else. Enter at your own risk!
I guess the only thing I can think of is maybe the timing...
They offered a 1500 sign on bonus when I took the position so maybe they were needing more help.  I don't know, I can see some people are getting upset about this post, so maybe I shouldn't have tried to be so upbeat about my job.
doesn't anyone else here think the timing of this post is
.
Have been timing off system and checking back in every so often (sm)
so I don't show too many hours on. Used to work for Medquist and their time clock made you paranoid about things like this.
I don't think it'd work just to unionize here. Timing's wrong. SM
Actually, the phrase Pissing into the wind, comes to mind. Once the folks offshore competing for the same work unionize, then maybe. (Did you notice that successful unions are for lines of work that can't be sent offshore? Inability to replace workers is key.) And once EMRs come into widespread use here in the States and a new workforce has transitioned around them, maybe. Being an optimist, I also like to think that countries with new growing middle classes will start producing, not only more demand for middle class wages, but plenty of local work too generated from people who will also get to benefit from this amazing medical revolution we're all part of. In the meantime, identifying and training for a position in the medical information field or another that will/should have decent-paying work in the future would be a good idea for any of us. Anyway, that's what I think.
Needing a job
After the initial phone interview, how long should it take to get the testing info?  What happens after you test?
Your timing is good. They just asked me if I wanted to pick up an ER account for weekends which inc
Thursdays and Fridays. It is an internet-based account and a good one but I have enough work on my primary.
Any companies you know of needing...(sm)

any overflow help?  Been hard to find as I am looking specifically for radiology and have a FT job from home already.  Just looking to help someone with overflow and make a little extra money on the side.  Anyone have any suggestions or any companies looking at this that would be interested?  Email me if you would like.

Thanks!

Needing advice
I am a rather new MT.  I only have about 1 year of experience and I have gotten back into the business recently.  I have been getting job offers, but none of them really turn out to be very good.  Can someone tell me some of the better well-known companies that hire someone with such little experience.  Any advice would help greatly.

Needing advice

I am fairly new into this home transcription thing and was wondering if I could get some good solid advice on how to stay motivated working from home (I have a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old at home and would like to work around their schedule i.e. nights, during naps so don't have to pay for daycare) Would IC be better for me in my situation rather than employee based?  Also, any companies that anyone would recommend that works with the MT, or any that you would recommend?

I know this is asking a lot but some good solid advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you. Just the info I was needing.
Have to admit, the change was alluring. Oh, well.
as far as needing certain hours that would conflict with IRS
but that is between the company and the worker.
Needing to vent alittle
I inquired about a job with Medivoxx, before I realized they used VR and expected you to transcribe and edit.  The information I received back stated that after two weeks uncompensated pay, the following 30 days would be 3 cpl, and then 5, and eventually 7.  Before I went any further, I asked approximately how many lines/day VR editing runs, as I would think it would be higher than transcribing since you are not actually typing it all out, but editing.  I wanted to know all this before I considered quiting the job I have now, which is not a transcription job, I am only doing that part time and am looking for full time. My response to this question was to not quit my current job.  This seems alittle odd to me, so I wanted to vent and share this info with everyone else.  Thanks
I'm not the one needing my hand held, now am I?

Advice needing in obtaining clients
I am lost.  I have been an MT for 3 years now and would like to obtain a few clients on my own.  My family has put me down for years and say I should be lucky to have a job and not to think big. My husband is no help. He also feels I cannot do it and now I am beginning to doubt myself.  I simply am lost.  How do I get started?  what software do I need for the doctors to get the voice files to me?  Am I insane for wanting more, or for wanting to have clients on my own?  Work is slow at the national I am at and if I obtain clients on my own, I can maybe have a future for my daughters.  Thanks
Just how do you think an MTSO will be able to calculate this into the work needing to be done?
:+
Other than needing the Olympus software, don't know a thing. nm

Needing reasons not to jump ship

It is hard to get a sense of things working at home... just want to know if there are any MTs at Transtech who do not plan to jump ship, or if I need to start worrying and go too?  I am also wondering who the TT people went to after they jumped ship.  I have sent numerous inquiries out and no answer.. could it be the market is flooded right now with resumes because of the recent VR situation?

Another reason I ask is that I believe TT is a strong company and I have been very happy there.  Yes, I have had to be very flexible, but I have not yet run out of work and still make good money, benefits, etc.  Why, however, are TT MTs any different than the more than 60 percent of MTs who have already gone to some type of VR at their company such as the people at Webmedx who are still happy, and others. It would be nice to get different viewpoints here... my instinct is to say keep with the TT, and work it all out because the company is strong... and most other companies if not are with VR will go there too someday!  I am the only source of income for my family and need to know what is going on out there in the world! Thanks in advance for your opinions.
