Old timey MT
Ah, y'all missed the point ...it has NOTHING to do with age. Old timey transcriptionist...that means someone who does what they are told, does not ask questions, does not say but this is not consistent with AAMT style guide and does not demand to know the line count on a daily basis and demand to be paid on time! You know...old timey ladies who would NEVER make a fuss...someone who is grateful to be working at home and therefore does not EXPECT to be treated well or have vacation or consistent work flow or be treated anything like a professional. Sort of like the transcription companies who demand taht you not attach a printer to YOUR computer so that you cannot print out reports. They are not at all concerned about confidentiality (get real)...they are scared to death you will print a report and count the actual characters and lines and find out how badly you are being screwed on line count and pay. Sound cynical? Yep. Guilty as charged. And not without reason.

Just thought this was funny. On MT Daily, a transcription company is looking for a Transcriptionist who isn't an old timey transcriptionist, wants someone who knows computer technology, etc. She must think if we've been doing this a long time, we must be TOO DUMB to know computer technology. Gimma a break, pleeeease!!!
Old Timey? What a "professional" sm
way to place an ad! Obviously this person doesn't realize that those of us who have been doing this for a long time keep up with the latest as companies go into newer technology! Good grief! That is an insult! I just turned 50, been doing this 27 years. Gee am I suppose to now be buried in the old MT cemetery? Ahhhhhhhhhh!
