Yes, I have backup accounts. Yes, they are out of work, too. So how many backups should I get and how many account specifics do I have to keep straight to make minimum wage here? I understand summer slump, but this is bad, really, really bad!!!!

No work for weeks
No work for weeks, no work to make up, have 4 accounts. Simple truth this company overhires and now I am stuck! Unfortunately, I will have to move on.....Hey, I have an idea - Why not hire some more!
There is no way I would work for anyone who did not pay me. If I get paid every 2 weeks, then..
the first time my check is more than a couple days late, they can forget it. You can bet they are getting paid by their clients. Who do they think does the work. The MTs should be paid above all else. I would give them a date that they had to "overnight" by check by or I'd file a company with a labor board, BBB, anyone who will listen. These companies get away with it because no one stands up for themselves. I do the work that is asked of me and I expect to be paid one time. No one should except any less than that. Good luck to you and nail them right where they stand on this one!!

several of us will probably get warnings for not making line count this pay period. What amazes me is that they've got an ad out today. Makes me wonder if things are going to get worse before they get better.

I agree with the other poster. Futurenet is great! They are very respectable. A lot of working is going to SR now though. That is the only downfall I have for them. But they work with you on everything! If they offered benefits, which they don't, I don't think anyone could beat them whatsoever. Pay is ontime EVERY time! Excellent staff! I have been there for a little over 2 years and have thought about going other places ONLY for benefit purposes but I just can't! They are too good to leave! I will be with them as long as they will allow me to. Couldn't picture myself working for anyone else!

Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
I think ill prescribe 75 mg of Effexor.. 2 weeks off of work...for everyone!

After seeing some of these posts, reading through many ads, and speaking with recruiters, and being knee deep in seeing some of the "mishandled, misappropriated, misguided, hypocritical, and profound blatant mistakes on reports, that are missed by QA, and mostly by some of these same Transcriptionist themselves, who are masticating
I have been with MQ Amherst now for 3 weeks and have continually run out of work. I know this has
been hashed out on here many times but my question is does anyone expect this problem to ever get resolved or should we simply expect to keep running out of work at Amherst forever. I know when they call me about the new pay plan and tell me it is incentive based I plan to tell them they better make sure we have work or their plan is a joke. What can I expect with this office and what can be done to correct it. I dont plan to have to work 8 accounts to get my lines in and have them QA me on accounts I have never done besides. If this problem is long standing and unlikely to be resolved it is time to either get out of that office or get out of MQ so I would like some good ideas and comments on this. We know it exists but what is the next step.
Why is OSi hiring new people when I have been out of work for 6 weeks?
I am statutory (or IC, whatever they are calling it now). I have a main account and 2 -- count them 2 -- back up accounts. I have been out/short of work for over 6 weeks.
Unless you are a full time employee, you get no benefits, no hourly, NOTHING. I am amazed that they are hiring when they have people already trained and begging for work!!!
Don't they realize that it costs a WHOLE lot more in turnover to train a new employee than to keep an already-trained one happy?
I'm looking at other nationals now. I've never been one to job hop, but I just can't take the time off any more!!!

Looks like I will be going to work in-house with an hourly wage. I love being home, but I can't afford to sit around and barley make a couple bucks a day. This is ridiculous! What's happening right now? Why are we all out of work. I have asked for more accounts, but low volumes across the board...

I was there 2 weeks and had only 11 reports, AND they refused to pay the training bonus. They said they could not release me to other accounts until I had completed so many reports for my primary, but there were none to do, so no backup.

Thanksgiving is weeks away, yet no work on TransTech this morning. sm
I have 2 accounts, with no work on either. I used to think they cared, but now I am not so sure. If there is no work now, I have to think the closer it gets to Thanksgiving, it will really be awful.
Why is transcend advertising for help. No work is the story for 3 or 4 weeks.
In 2+ years, never been so low in work, even with secondary accounts to try to go to. And now they advertise for more help? Are we all supposed to go to part time?

I sincerely hope it continues to work out for you if you are truly a new Editor and not either of the 2 lead people posing as a happy employee. I have nothing nice to say about Shapin. I am one of the disgruntled ex-employees that never even said anything about them on this site! BUT.. I was certainly smeared around here and the most horrifying thing was it wasn't even true. I never even came into this forum until I was contacted by another QA they also did a number on. I kept quiet as I feel it is better to take the high road. Since I was enlightened I have visited this site frequently and have seen how many negative remarks there are about them. I have also visited some others and they were pretty bad also. I am not trying to stir the pot, but there are two sides to every story. The bigmouth is usually spewing there bull edition. Good luck to you with them.

for 36,500? Sounds like a very big national I know. lol. BTDT and I quit real fast. Glad you are happy, I guess that's all that matters, but you're being taken advantage of IMO. And 2 weeks vacation is not that great either.

and I am sorry if indeed the above poster did get chewed out. Mutual respect and customer service goes from supervisor and employee just as employee is to respect supervisor. Chewed out, sounds like a parent to a child, and even then criticism should be dealt with carefully.
You will be hired fast and then wait weeks or months for work...SM
You may be asked to invest in expensive equipment, likely to run out of work regularly and not have your calls returned when you try to contact them. They do pay well but the work is NOT there more than it is, so great pay doesn't mean much. They sell it to you great but they don't deliver.
I felt that exact same way and quit a job that was not work out..6 weeks and 30 applications sm
later I am a temporary employee at Walmart for 6.00/hr. Still more than I was making at my production job but how humiliating.

vaction - quite a sweet deal ... while the rest of us are struggling with monumentous premiums (financing a newbie's love/sex life not my idea of fair play). Many of us haven't gotten a single day of PTO, (thanks to the line requirement to meet when there is no/low work) and most of have been here much longer than 4 months.

Well, I HOPE they're a good place to work...
... since I worked for TRS and thus got acquired by Transcend when TRS did.
Interestingly... when I was job-hunting about 7 months ago, I basically read every entry in the MT Companies section of another forum (M T Chat)looking for companies that got good reviews. Because it got very good reviews there, Transcend was the second-to-last company I applied to, just before TRS. At that time, Transcend was only testing for acute care (my 36 years of clinical in multiple specialties wasn't good enough, I guess) so they told me no thanks. And now they've got me anyway.
I am still reserving judgment because the merger only happened 2 weeks ago; and I am still working on my same accounts, under the same supervisors, on the same platform, so there have been no visible changes as yet....

Apparently MDI was one of the companies that paid their experienced MTs pretty well.
With the merge, you'll be making less eventually. If you quit and look for a new job, you'll be making less, way less, than you were making at MDI.
I'm another one who's BTDT, too. I went from making 11 cpl to now making 8 cpl. I tried HARD to find any company, obscure to well known, that will start off more than that. Couldn't find 'em. Probably won't ever go up, either.
Just sayin' that you should be prepared to budget your living costs for the amount of money you'll be missing each month compared to what you were making at MDI. It's awful, I know, been through it. Going to school now to do something else, getting out.

I encountered slow to no work the weeks preceding Thanksgiving and several days after but the past
few days it has picked up. Can I ask which account/accounts your on? I think that makes a difference. Mine are part f the Escription platform. I honestly got really ticked a few weeks ago when we had no work and they were still hiring. For one, it's bad enough when we have to share some of our work with the Indians, but how fair it is to hire these poor people who think they are getting work where there is none. It makes no sense to me either. Why not provide work to your current employees than drive them away by taking on too many new people.

Concerned about the low work at WebMedx over the past few weeks. Typical for this time of year?
I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.

I hope the not meeting line count was due to being on your part and not due to lack of work or I'
be ticked off. I can see if someone just didnt do their line count for whatever personal reasons but I have heard of people saying they couldnt do their line counts due to lack of work. That would stink if it was through no fault of their own that they were punished.

Be careful right now, because TT has much overhired, promising something big coming up, but nothing seen by the MT's yet, just LOW WORK load.
