Off shoring

There are unfortunately very few companies that do not offshore anymore. Most would rather not go on the record for doing it. They are doing it to try to make ends meet and to meet 24-hour TAT demands. It is really a shame.

off shoring
You speak garbage and BS. It is corporate greed, is and always will be. You are right about all the stuff we have in our homes that say Made in China but where did it start? There is not one USA car maker that has its total car made in the USA. All the cars components are made elsewhere. The only true American car made entirely in the US is the Ford Excursion. The rest are outsourced. I hate it and most MTs hate it. I make sure that my own personal records from the doctors and hospitals only hire Americans, as I do not want my medical records transcribed anywhere but here. I deplore NAFTA and CAFTA. I think it is wrong. Everything is one sided or leaning that way. AHDI could not get enough members so that started teaching elsewhere to get the membership numbers they wanted. Now they are getting more and more away from transcriptionists problems and they are a lot of the problem also.
But then again, when I see some of the questions on the word board of people needing help, and in reading some of these posts, I am appalled that these are MTs. Some of the most basic stuff coming off the word board should have been something that was taught in MT school. Okay, now I am getting away from the real issue here and it is outsourcing.
IMO, wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!

Isn't it funny that Heartland was named in this article, yet...considering that they are getting ready to send ALL of their work to India...it appears that they learned nothing from the experience.
Which are you against -- outsourcing, off-shoring, or both?? nm

speaking of outsourcing/off-shoring
The news had a segment last night about medical identity theft becoming a big problem in the U.S. Hmm. Interesting. We've been trying to tell them this for years. All one need do is jot down numbers a doctor dictates, whether the software is secure or not. U.S. MTs are accountable and it is a felony. Unless they start extraditing off-shore MTs for felony charges, then they have absolutely no jurisdiction.
I have a feeling more and more legislation about off-shoring confidential information is in America's future.
MT companies and even AAMT like to say there are not enough qualified U.S. MTs. It's not true and we know it. There are simply just not enough U.S. MTs who will work for nothing.
OFF-SHORING issue/idea. sm
I have absolutely no clue how to do this and have never even been to the site,
but I heard on TV about teenagers getting Obama to listen to them through You-Tube.
Why cant we all do that? If someone has more insight, Please Share! This might also be a way to reach out to other MTs who don't know about this site and to the public about our medical records!
What do you think?
Companies will not stop off-shoring. I'm worried about my job
