has anyone reported OSI to wage hour commission
MS size=2>because they CONSTANTLY harass you about working on your days off but you aren't allowed to put the hours on your timesheet if it throws you into overtime. That is against the law - to work without recording your hours. I am going to report them if nobody else has.
minimum wage is $ 7.--/hour.....nm
nm
Is it Wage & Hour or Labor Board...sm
To help get payment. MW is trying to screw me - gave my lines to somebody else and are dragging their feet BIG time. Gonna report them, tired of it and need my money.
Must be paid MINIMUM WAGE for each hour -sm
worked under 40/wk if employee in the U.S., regardless of work type, job description. In addition, must be PAID FOR ALL WORK PERFORMED - I won't even go there.
Att: Flamers: You can look this up yourself in DOL regulations.
Wage-hour takes nonpay of overtime very seriously
3 people have just last week reported a large national company for requesting people to work without recording hours in order to avoid overtime. They have moved on to better things but had all documentation they needed. They were told this is a serious offense. Note if your company asks you to work without recording hours or that overtime is not approved it is against the law and you can take legal action. This is true for any company.
Notify Wage and Hour Division in your state....
xx
$35/hour x five 10-hour days = $1,750 gross/week.
x
$1,000 divided by 40 hours is $25.00 an hour. Where do you live that that is minimum wage? nm
:{
Actually, I was not not guaranteed a wage, went on production after one week training, sm
and still only have one primary account (which runs out of work often).
You mean you don't want to try their 12 hour per day-4 day week?
Anyone apply for the 12-hour day, 4-day week they are offering?
I had to laugh when I saw their ad for a four-day week, 12-hour day. In order to get in enough lines to make a 12-hour day, with all the clocking in and clocking out for every little thing like blowing your nose, you will be sitting at that computer 24 hours a day for four-days in a row. And when are you suppose to eat? What happens when there is no work during those days -- you end up working on your days off anyway!!! So much for a 4-day week. Even overtime will have to be on your days off.
If anyone is working that schedule now, please let us know if it is working out well for you. GOOD LUCK. I admire your stamina.
Happy Holidays
39 hour work week
is what it says. Sorry, 39 not 40 for those counting.
Are we talking a 40-hour week, or an
*
Not thrilled about the new 40-hour week but SM
am still positive. An issue is how much of the current slowdown is actually due to the crash in the economy (on top of the holiday season), a change no company could have planned for.
Also, something I find encouraging is that WedMedx has a vowed goal of developing and providing its clients with very high-quality MTs, excuse me, MCSs (medical content specialists). If that continues, it means doing what it takes to hold onto them since these are people who can always normally find another job.
This week I was told $11.25 an hour
I'd be editing VR all day though as she sends her standard transcription off to some MTSO. I forgot to ask which. Those wages are not bad really for this part, but nothing to scream about. I was making $14 an hour at the in-house hospital job and the peak there was $17.50. The bens are wonderful, $150 for family and that includes dental, vision. We also get a 401k.
But just from the interview, we only get yearly raises. She doesn't do merit increases. There are no quarterly QA audits. Her standards are low, 1100 lines per day for editing. She told me I was at the top of her list to hire but she is still interviewing. I took it as she was looking for someone who would work cheaper.
Wish WMX would go back to 35 hour week for FT. (sm)
Seemed like we all had enough work to go around. Perhaps this is more beneficial for the company, but the 35 hours makes it easier to work in a part time job if necessary due to low work.
Last time my accounts were low for a while I picked up an IC gig, then like a fool when OT was offered on my main job I quit the IC job and went for the bucks. That lasted about 2 weeks. Will not be that foolish again.
Also I was told there is a 20 hour per week requirement (sm)
along with the 4,000 line. I have been an IC with this company since 1998 and just found this out about a week ago. Nothing in anything I actually signed, they were just "letting me know" to maintain my status this was the requirement.
As above, each office is different although I think they are trying to get more uniform across the board.
I know Webmedx pays $11/hour for 1 week.
I have seen in the past week other companies that pay, but I didn't pay attention to who they were. I found the info browsing the job boards.
Webmedx pays $11/hour for one week and then
pay 25% above line rate for 3 days to give you some time to build-up production.
taking a low wage does not lower the pay for a field. The fact that they are offering stated wage
means that is the market. You don't see ads for McDonald's for $36/hour and you don't see ads for A.G. Edwards for $20,000/yr. If they didn't think they could fill a job for $14, they wouldn't post it. Notice MT jobs are now posting at 5, 6 and 6.5. So guess what editors are going to make?
Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm
x
Reported?? How old are you???
x
The reason they were reported and had SM
to pay was because they did the ole trick where they demanded mandatory overtime and then specifically said in their emails that they would NOT pay for anything over 40 hours and for us not to put it on our time sheets.
I would imagine that by the time they had to pay everyone who answered the Labor Department questionnaire and whatever penalty, they were wishing they hadn't said what they said in writing. I think all of the management from that time is also gone.
LOL they called and reported me
to the ASPCA for trying to feed them a lesser brand...
Did you know dogs LOVE love love cat food?
I just reported this ad to the moderator
All job posters MUST post the company name according to the note from the moderator on the job board.
Don't you think that would be better reported to the company
It's nobody's business here if there are reports have bad errors.
I reported them & feel better now!
Thank you all.
I have reported this message to the Administrator
This has got to be the most unprofessional situation I have ever witnessed. I cannot believe it.
They need to be reported to the Labor Board..sm
and their names posted. Another example of MTSOs pushing as far as they can before we MTs cry, Ouch! They know they are breaking the law.
I reported 2 reports with errors and it turned out
that it wasn't done by a TT employee. At least some of the hospitals have their own employees and TT just does overflow. Yet we can see these reports done by non-TT employees. I believe TT hires some of the best MTs I've ever worked with. Other places (especially where I was a hospital employee and also MQ) the quality was very uneven. That is, some MTs were brilliant and some had the English skills of a 4th grader.
I reported your post to the moderator, WE are not animals, maybe YOU are...nm
nm
nothing will change unless they get reported and called on the carpet for it. NM
X
they were reported to feds for falsifying time sheets
you know where they want you to work but don't want you to record your hours if it puts you in OT so if you think its freaky now just wait
think, people! If she does 250 lines/hour, same docs daily, will make $15/hour
nm
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.
what's not to believe - I said that I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days AND DO NOT MAKE - sm
I DO NOT MAKE $100,000/YEAR
try READING the post.
$20 an hour is not even average for radiology. You should not make less than $25-30 per hour. sm
I work for Keystrokes and have for 3 years. I average 25 reports an hour, which is $31.25 an hour. I have 401, health insurance, direct deposit, life insurance. My lead tells me I'm wonderful when I talk to her, but I do not need a daily pat on the back.
I also have a good friend who works for them on a clinic. She only makes 0.08 per line but does 300 lines an hour, which is $24 an hour, again higher than your $20.
I don't think we're selling ourselves short. There are companies out there that are good to work for, 6 or 8 of them that I know of personally. Don't settle for $20 an hour.
Well if I could do 500 lines per hour, I would be making 35.00 an hour. sm
nothing to sneeze at. More than fair for having a 2-year degree. Come on people, we are all acting like we expect 6-digit incomes! Whatev!
Full time with Transtech is both. 40 hours per week and 5500 lines per week.
x
Nope .. email on 1/18 promised "within the next week." Here we are, 1 week later and no info.
x
The minimum is 5500 per week, NOT 6600 per week. I think you made a typo. :)
NM
i clear over 800 a week, 40/week; 30+ year experience. (nm)

Min. wage
That isn't even minimum wage in San Francisco, where it's something like $9.25+ per hr.
Min wage in NY
In NY minimum wage is now $7.15, so that is not min wage here either.
Min wage
I thought I had read something recently that stated Nuance/Focus was developing some software that would completely do away with transcriptionists in the next few years. I worked for Focus 5 years ago and they were a terrible company then to work for, I see they have just kept getting worse. You are entitled to minimum wage if you are an employee. If your line count does not come to that contact your local DOL and apply for unemployment benefits. if you don't you are hurting yourselves and other MTs who come after you.
I believe that would come to a little over minimum wage...
Not good at all!
Minimum wage at best, probably not that!
I would not take any QA/editing position unless it is a set hourly rate. Again, I have said it before, do not sell your fellow QA/editors down the drain like AAMT has sold us. Hourly is the only way!
don't accept the wage, but I would!!!!
nm
Medware Wage
The most you can expect to make at Medware is 0.08 a line. Medware has some extremely difficult accounts with a lot of ESL doctors. It is very hard to make a good line count. Additionally, Medware watches how many minutes you work during the day. You must work a full 8-hour shift. If you have problems and need to call your supervisor, need to email your supervisor, create samples or go over files from the editors, have a problem with pay or vacation time or anything similiar, you will do it on your time. You have to put in your 8 hours TYPING, nothing else counts.
Is this a fair wage?
I'm a new graduate and I got an offer for 0.75 cpl. Any input would be appreciated.
QA Wage question
If getting paid hourly for QA, let's say $10.00 an hour, do you get paid for every hour whether there's anything to QA or not?
if you are still working there for that particular wage...sm
you are settling. 12 hour days x 6 days per week? You are definitely selling yourself short if you accept this. I was only trying to be honest based on the information you chose to share. I don't want others to think this is the norm in this industry because it most certainly is not. Again, I am basing my comments solely on the information you provided, which in fact saddened me as an MT who has been in this profession for many years. I apologize if you see this as an insult, but I was just overwhelmed by your breakdown of pay. To me this is completely unacceptable. Good luck to you.
