Members here should be required to have one sign on name only. At least then people would have the opportunity to ignore the trolls. It boils my blood when a person comes here for help just to receive hateful replies. Spelling isn't the issue and if it was, you wouldn't be considerate enough to care. You just look for any opportunity to be pissy. Get a life.

Suddenly getting chatty e-mails and calls from my supervisor who never had the time of day for me before. Of course the work has disappeared before I can get off the phone or get through the ridiculous e-mail updates about the weather, the kids, the in-laws, but nothing of substance and no helpful information is ever sent. Guess they want us to say kind things about how nice they were after we are forced to quit and get different jobs. This is one strange company.

I am relatively new to at home transcription having previously worked in an office for an hourly salary.I too, have noticed many negative general post on this board.In office (at least where is was) and at home are 2 different worlds. I was never before on production. I never had to worry aboutline counts, expanders, characters per line etc.
I have been embarrassed to ask some of the questions I have asked because they seemed to scream stupidity. That being said, every time I have posted something dumb about productivity etc I have been OVERWHELMED with the kindness of strangers. Many have posted on the board, emailed with responses, discussed Expanders and a few even allowed me to call them for production tips. People have offered many kind words and have been very encouraging you will get there etc. I have also noticed some of these same people helping others on the board.
My personal experience on this board has been that I have never met kinder, more knowdledgable people who went out of their way to help others. It is a shame some of the negative posts seem to dominate.
Maybe it is as Shakespeare said I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them, The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Caesar. ... Do not let the bad live and forget the good.

Thanks for your kindness. I did check, and it just says we are paid on sm
the 15th and the last of the month, and that if they fall on a Saturday or Sunday, we are paid on the following Monday. However, the 31st was on a Sunday, and we were paid on the Friday before, plus with the following Monday being a holiday, I was just hoping … hopes and dreams, one of the few things that are still free

every time this company is mentioned and says the SAME thing, don't quit your job, they put these programs on my computer and never called me, etc.
I am really starting to wonder if it isn't just a group of 3 or 4 people who post all the negative about this company because it's always the same stories.

Because people like you decide to take pay that is subpar, others suffer and will continue to do so because people like you take the jobs and when they lower the pay, no doubt you will go along with them. I stand up for what I believe in even if it means I starve and if more people did that, maybe we could accomplish something in this field of standing up for what is right!
I swear it's some type of "bullet" the competing (sm)
cable company uses. You see, cable companies nowadays have their own products comparable to Vonage and they want you to be using their product, not Vonage. So, to piss people off, they do things like give their voice packets priority over the Vonage ones...which leads to temporary disconnects. Not really a problem for most folks, an annoyance if anything, but if you are using your VOIP line for data...major bummer.
I wish I had an answer other than bowing to the man and going with the other company's equipment.

That statement also sounds like a big heapin' pile of poopie, and they are under the impression that their employees just fell off the turnip truck.

Death and they still want u to work
Maybe it is the same with any job, but I remember when my mother died, the MTSO called me and said you sound back to normal. I really needed more time off but I don't get paid time off.
At another big national, I was deathly sick with bronchitis and they were still cracking the whip. I was lying down every half hour or so, but still got my lines done. I remember telling the supervisor how sick I was and she didn't say a word, not a word.
They email you to death, and
I found out they Want you to IM, but will not Force you to.
How about Death Valley?

If you want to be nit-picked to death
Then by all means, hire on with Keystrokes. I had just started with them but after I saw my review, I told them I did not want to work for them. They nit-pick every comma, etc., to death and there was no way I was going to put up with that. These services get so carried away by all the insignificant crap that they just drive away anyone who is a good MT but doesn't want to put up with the nit-picking. Good luck.

Are there any companies who do not micromanage you to death?
I am a good MT, produce high line counts, am reliable, yet the company I work for insists on micrmanaging us all to death. I just want to produce excellent work and be left alone to do so. Is that too much to ask these days?

money is not worth the time or stress. My income is supplemental to the home and for fun and/or savings, not necessary for bills, etc. And please don't bother bashing me or say I'm snooty and married money, not really the truth but fortunate enough to let my DH be the income earner, not me.

Why do supervisors who insist they are not paid to transcribe cherry pick accounts to death?
They could really show some leadership ability if they took the bad dictators and left a few easy reports for those of us who would appreciate an easy report once in a while.

to practice! That has been proven by the absolutely atrocious quality of MT'ing today. Trust me, I have been a recruiter, a mentor/trainer, a supervisor and QA, I've seen it all and it ain't pretty.

The only requirement of a recruiter
is to get bodies in the door. Some are honest and some aren't. If you have a bad gut feeling then you need to go with that. My experience has been that the ones who are good recruiters have all the answers on the fly; if not, they can put you on hold to get the answer, or get back soon.
Of course you may have gotten a recruiter who just started and you are asking questions no one had given her/him answers for. Geez, the percentage of retention for the past year? That's an arbitrary question in any event due to a number of different factors and one I wouldn't even ask. I know my skill set so for me it's just knowing if they have a system I can make money on and if there is sufficient work to make money.

I tested, had recruiter interview, given install date and emailed the paper work which included Appendix G provide and maintain Professional Liability Insurance, required by law.
When I asked about this, was told, part of renters or home owners insurance for PC. But when I called around, insurance companies -- said no, & puzzled by this requirement. I asked well how would the company benefit, they said, I don't know. In the event of loss, they pay to me, not the employing company.

The full time requirement is (sm)
1000 lpd. Not sure about part time. I am on the new ortho account that just started. I just started so cannot really answer the next question, but they seem to give you a primary and leave it at that. They do like to cross train, which everyone does. They send a foot pedal, but you get online with the tech person to download the software. It is very user friendly and the best I have ever worked on!!

but hospital employees still have to have a physical, pretty extensive one too - - I used to be one but got out of that employee status, prefer the Diskriter employee status, believe you can get both there though whichever floats your boat

You keep a time sheet and turn it in every 2 weeks. I am not sure as to how much time you are given to get up to speed, but they are a great bunch of people and seem to be very understanding and caring. I am sure they would work with you if you were having problems. And yes, you can make up your time if you are missing some hours. Hope that helps.
