Not true anymore. More platforms are Vista compatible. sm

I work for Keystrokes and bought a new computer about 3 months ago. I asked if Vista worked and I was told that it is about 50/50 right now and more are compatible all the time. This is everywhere, not just Keystrokes.

Which companies have Vista-compatible platforms?

VISTA IS COMPATIBLE
I dont know who told you VISTA was not compatible but it most certainly is! I bought a new laptop with Vista and have been working without any problems whatsoever. If you're having a problem downloading it, it's because you must first sign in as, run as administrator...then it will download for you...
Vista is not compatible with many programs out there yet. (sm)
From what I hear, Vista and MOST transcription platforms are not compatible.
Just found out, Vista NOT compatible

just in case anybody else was wondering.

Does anyone know if ChartScript is compatible with Windows Vista?
I just ordered a new HP laptop with Windows Vista, and I was wondering if anyone knows if the ChartScript.net platform will run on Vista without any problems. I want to be able to take my laptop with me when I travel so that I can work on the road.
Bayscribe platform is compatible with Vista.
You just need to find a company that uses Bayscribe. There may be other platforms but I don't know of any.
Keystrokes' ads all say WindowsXP or 2000. Vista is not compatible sm
with most platforms, which is not the fault of the company.

You were not fired; the offer letter states that employment is pending IS approval of your computer. Vista is NOT compatible with most MT platforms at this time. No one would have told you to purchase that. We do just the opposite and tell everyone NOT to purchase VISTA as it is does not work with our hospitals.
LOL, they still aren't compatible with Vista or Word 2007...

Supposedly new upgrade for WordClient is compatible with Vista, per our mgmt.

We are about to do an upgrade, and they say it will be compatible with Vista with this new upgrade of WordClient.  Yipeeee

I wanted to use my own computer and get rid of the RENT on TT computer, but Vista is not compatible.
Good way to make them money.  Not have to upgrade software so that Vista is compatible with Vista.  Huh?
I've heard they don't offshore anymore. Don't know if true.

Not true anymore. That changed this past week when they decided that to go back to having PT MT'
I talked to my Coordinator who told me that during their meetings this past week at the office, it was decided that some PT positions were necessary.

The decision for FT only was officially made in September but they have decided to go back to having some PT MT's fo fill the needs of some accounts. There will be definite standards to be met, including must have one weekend shift and must do a minimum of 2500 lines a week, but there will be some PT MT's hired when needed. She did say that the number of positions would be limited, trying to fill accounts with FT MT's first.

This came directly from one of the Coordinators who was in the meetings last week.

Ohhhhh, sooooooo true -- Transtech tech people absolutely stink anymore since ____ left. He was the

greatest!  Hated to hear that he had left.  We got some real doozies for tech help now.  The MT ends up training them.  They are clueless as to what to do when we need help.  TRUTH!

They ALWAYS have a BAD attitude in their voice, too -- like we MT's are a bother to them -- thought that is what they get paid for.

A few are compatible, but not all. More are becoming compatible though which is nice. sm
We are the mercy of the hospitals except those that are on DQS now.

I don't know why it's not compatible
Are you talking about your MS Word autotext?
As far as I know, nothing is compatible with Medrite, sm
especially if you are working in DOS. I worked on it for over a year and never did get the hang of remembering my own word expansions. I used IT too long and could not get used to anything else.
Anybody know of any companies that are compatible with the

Would love to be working on my own computer which has Vista on it.

Help me out if you know any companies that have software compatible with Vista now.

MT equipment is often not compatible with VoIP too.
For example:

If you need your (*) key to sign off on a job, it may not work because some phone plans/phone cards will use that key to disconnect you so you can dial another number to avoid having to dial in again and enter your whole ID# and PIN# all over again.
Same goes for the (#) key; some may use this key for that function, which might be a key you need to get the header info. for each job or to repeat the header info.

It's very difficult for an MT to find a LD plan, and unfortunately, some MT companies out there don't realize this or simply don't care.

Is the platform compatible with an expansion
I don't mean using the features in MS-Word (Auto-Text, etc.), but something like Smartype or Shorthand? When I interviewed with them a couple of years ago, I was very impressed with them, but I can't fly without an Expander and there were issues with Lotus not counting expanded text with every expander I asked to use with it. It was only for that reason that I did not accept a position with them.

I actually like Vista
I have another brand new computer that I just bought a month ago that has Vista on it, and I actually like it quite a bit and haven't had any major problems with it. I just have to use XP on my work computer since my accounts aren't compatible with Vista yet.
I IC for FN & use Vista
but utilize Word 2002.  I had a few issues with foreign font population, but got it resolved.  Have you talked to folks in FN IT?  They are pretty knowledgeable and willing to help.  If 2003 is incompatible, you could probably get 2002 pretty cheaply.
i have XP and Vista
Bayscribed loaded onto XP/desktop and also on my Vista laptop. I work off both, have no problems with Vista at all.

Does anyone know, is the Meditech program with Keystrokes compatible sm
with Vista?  I am thinking of getting a laptop, and I found out that Dell will downgrade you to XP, but they charge you $99 more

I was told to buy Vista. . .
when I was hired in July. It was after the computer tech worked with my on my Vista computer that they decided not to allow Vista. Now I'm out $1000 for all that new equipment as I came from a company that provided everything including program downloads, and I'm on my own once again, minus last week's pay I could have made with a more compatible program. Why would I have gone out of my way when I was only comfortable with XP to buy Vista? The person I spoke with suggested the kind of computer she has, which is a Compaq Presario, and she did recommend Vista. I have no experience with Vista, but I trusted her word.
Vista/Keystrokes
Whatever happened obviously there was a misunderstanding or lack of communication about what program to buy. I understand how you would be upest after spending money and now not having an account to work on. I would think Keystrokes could have made a suggestion of getting rid of the software that was not compatiable. Maybe you can call them back and see if there is some way this can be rectified. However, I would like to say people could be a little more kind to this person who obviously is very upset. It certainly doesn't hurt to show an ounce of compassion instead of irritation.
I never even heard of Vista before. . .
before I was hired at KS. Why would I buy it if I was only familiar with XP? Of course I can't even buy another new computer with warranty as they don't make XP anymore. Little did I know.
Keystrokes/Vista
All of these links do not surprise me about Vista/Keystrokes or any other company for that matter. Most companies IT people just do not have the expertise in computers/software/hardware. Call a computer tech to come into your house and see if he/she can get your software to work on your computer. Geek Squad does a good job. I know, hired them. They know many ways to fix problems on a computer that some of the companies IT people may just not know. Geek Squad's work is guaranteed, not a lot of money and they know what they are doing, have all the software disks with them to fix problems on your computer.

Or you can uninstall Windows Vista and buy a cheaper copy of Windows XP and install that on your computer. TigerDirect.com,and other web sites sell this software cheaper than Best Buy, etc.

Sometimes it is a computer expert outside of a transcription company, who has seen many problems, can fix it it no time.

A lot of computers years ago had problems with Windows XP and then that was fixed. Windows Vista is new, and like many products needs the bugs worked out of it before it will run properly with all software. Microsoft.com also has a list of programs that are compatible with Vista.

I think either Vista or XP work, I have XP and
it is fine... I have desktop, but often wish for laptop so I can sit outside, but again, you might want to contact the fellow who trains Bayscribe. He is really nice and you can e mail or call and he will answer those questions. He is so low key and helpful, I know he can help you. You download the Bayscribe onto your computer with the help of the fellow who trains you... It is so easy you don't even have to have him do it... and you are lucky to have a C-phone because you probably won't run out of work as much. I don't have a landline anymore (use cell) so I could not opt for that option. Good luck on training. I think people below are right about hanging in. Plus we are IC so having extra work elsewhere is okay, and that is how I am hanging in there. I have 1 other IC and just took another account on today, so when they are all busy this MT will be complaining about too much work...but that is better than broke, that is for sure! Good luck.. and although I got my 5 jobs to say hang in there may be premature, but my gut says it so that is what I am trusting, along with some of the veterans on here who said that too. Good luck to you :)
no prob's w/vista and mdi.

Vista compatibility
Depends what platform you use.  Vista is compatible with DocQScribe and Keystrokes uses DocQScribe.  Some companies use various platforms, depending on their clients' needs.
