Not management, don’t know about Transtech, fast typist, American, what have I not covered

Let's see, all the above have been said about me. I have been truthful trying to let others know about VR but the only thing most can do who are opposed accuse you of being too slow to make a decent salary, working as management, working for whatever company they are talking about and so on. I think I have reached my fill because others do not really care to understand. I went through why if VR threw in something wrong how a trained person would know and then someone came back asking if I were an American. If you cannot comprehend something seems like you just throw anything that might stick. I have tried because I have worked on VR now for about 7 years but no one wants to hear but what woes they face.

I am not a fast typist & I gave it a 100% try....
When you start VR you are training it. I repeatedly had to change headings, sentences, periods, etc, etc. I started typing on my second job more and came back 2 weeks later and nothing had changed and maybe a little worse. I finally quit. I am not a fast typist but it takes time to make these changes and breaks you rhythm. That is what I found. I couldn't make money and it was so BORING.
Eighteen years of typing and fast typist
I speed up the dictation so that it can keep up with me
I had no MT training, not a fast typist, and no experience in tranascription
whatsoever and started out doing Psych transcription. I moved directly from Psych to acute care transcription without any additional training. I even started doing some of the most difficult dictators right off the bat and the MTSO couldn't believe that I could do them.
With Transtech insurance, do you have to meet deductible before office visits are covered? nm
nm
I notice that Transtech is continually hiring. Are they growing that fast or are they
overhiring? Should I be concerned by this or apply? How are they to work for? Any input is greatly appreciated.
I am definitely not management, just an employee of Transtech
that happens to like his job. What's wrong with that? Is everything perfect with TT? Of course not, no company is perfect. This is the best that I have found, though. I would expect management to peruse these boards. Isn't that just smart business? If you are really working for TT, sounds like you need to move on. More likely you are just some bitter old hag with nothing better to do than tear down those who are happier than you. Sheesh.
I covered that
My contract ends each year. I reassess if that same contract is working for me, if I want to raise my rates, etc and renew the contract. Many contractural relationships are handled this way.
When I owned my own client-to-service based service, I had a lot of government contracts, and they are sticklers for making sure you really know what you're doing with being a contractor. Now that I provide my services to a middle man, it's just the same on a smaller scale.
If ICs actually behaved like ICs and held the middle men accountable, you might see a livable wage actually still existent. Instead, posters as above who just dont want their own boat rocked mean that the crappy situation most MTs are in will continue.
All family is covered - all 3 of us have used ours. nm

Ok, I said the chocolate covered cherries but
I said, well almost. You just have to read all the post. Some ESLs on mine are better than the English so it can happen. I have 1 English speaking PA that it never gets and I have no idea why. Her reports are pure salad. I worked in a hospital before making both base and incentive and I only work part now so how to compare what I made then as to now? I have edited over 600 lines before BUT and read THIS, that is few and far between. The stars all have to be lined up for that to happen. I can and do do 400+ a line but am old and really have forgotten how much paid per line and per hour when working inhouse.
We are not hourly employees so we are not covered by that -
we are considered being paid by the piece and that is figured a separate way. That is why I had such trouble getting my unemployment because they said I was not an hourly employee and therefore was not entitled to unemployment.
to make sure the accounts are over-covered -- greed
FN is so very greedy. Keep 'em over-covered for TAT. Keep the gals scraping for bits. They would rather have way too many MTs than have just enough. I see things have certainly not changed...
Company Hack and Suckup...you covered it for us. n/m

if your a slower typist, go for the $15, but.....
If you have speed and can utilize your normals, definitely take production. There are hours where I make $40 an hour at 9 cents per line. I would never go hourly.
They want typist who works for 9 or 10 cpl? Exactly
xx
I like what someone said about being a keyboardist not a typist sm
or something similar since I noticed that I spelled definitely wrong. And I should have said the post below and not above. But regardless, it is a US company that does not have anyone from India or any other country answer their phones. As a matter of fact, Joy is the woman usually who answers the phone. Say Hi from me.
Speed Typist
Well, with the Chartnet platform it is possible to get good line counts. The problem is there isn't any work at this company. They have lost a lot of accounts! There is so little work and so many MTs that you will barely get the minimum line count!!!
And if your facility is outsourcing to them or you think (or have been told) that you will have a primary account that nobody else will be typing THEY LIE!!!
There are so many MTs that need work that they will be given access to your account!!!! You will slowly watch your work go away!!!
After leaving this company because of no work I wish you much luck...You are going to need it!!!
I don't think "speedy typist" is the (sm)
determing factor. Depends on use of expander, work types, dictator quality etc., your experience. $800 every 2 weeks is definitely doable, but there are too many variables to just look at the job and say this amount of dollars for 40 hours. Set your goals and work on it from there.
Well, that's what we do. It's an appropriate term. At least its better than typist. nm
nm
We just covered this on the main board - probably a scam company -sm
In the past I have seen their ads (in every state) saying you can make mega $$$. However it is believed that they are XXXXX under a new name in order to get new victims. The company itself is actually in XXXXX, they say you have to buy the software they use $400 from another company (which they own too but have it hidden well). They then string you along with tests and practice dictation (which I suspect is real dictation) but you never get paid as you have passed the test, nor will you ever be quite good enough to pass. I know a few people that have done it, get strung along for 6 months or more then finally give up, eating the $400. So make a fuss and get their money back, reporting them to the BBB. As for no info, that is not good, if no phone number or address, or they make you buy stuff, steer clear.
Whether you apply on line or by written application, they have it covered
They have always had a disclaimer at the end of any paper Employment Application you fill out and sign, but now they also have them if you apply on line. They cover it nicely by saying I authorize investigation. That pretty much lets them do anything they want and without a written signature.

That is outrageous! I am not a good typist myself so sm
if they had said that to me, I'd know it for the truth. What I am is extremely good with an expander. I am not all that fast I don't think (300-325 lph). If could get through more than 2 lines without having to go in and fix something, I might make more money. I don't think I have ever gotten through anything other than a very short report without having to back up and fix something! I have been typing for about 35 years or so and you would think I'd get it, but I don't.
I have only been an MT for 12 years and I'll bet you are very very good in every way (shoo-in aside). Your typing skills must be top notch and I admire them. Don't like the hiney holes get to you.
Remember, you are covered as long as you have documented Out of Work tickets - sm
You can still qualify for holiday pay if you try to get in your 32 hrs, and receive the NSA message. If there is no work, there is no work and they can't hold your holiday pay.
Anyone ever worked on Winscribe Internet Typist?
Pro's? Con's? Any information would be greatly appreciated! TIA
That should read ... Has anyone ever used Winscribe Internet Typist?
It has been a VERY long day. Thanks!
I actually have always hated to be called a typist. I do not just copy type. sm
I am a transcriptionist.
An American
Your right - I posted and I am American. Read the book - The Worls is Really Flat - grow up. This is a busines that Sally Struthers advertises to unemployed people in the middle of the day - Learn to be a medical Transcriptionist ...
I believe that rasism is bad. The people on this site are off balance. They believe that ONLY Americans can do this work. They believe that because someone was born in another country - they are a lesser person. How sad and small - it is the very thing that will kill the business for Americans. MTSOs understand that they provide a great living for people in India. Indian companies provide health insurance, paid time offf, transporation to and from work, and free meals. Do American MTSOs provide ANY of this?
all american
meant appreciate that, oops
Yes, you got it - American men do same.....NM
American MTs
American MTs: Is this job for you? This little paragraph should go in all their job ads.
And yes, we do outsource, to India, to the Philippines and we have American MTs. Our overseas MTs don't complain about having to work, they don't ask for time off every other day, they don't have excuses for not turning in their work within TAT and several of them produce client ready work. Our offshore MTs pride themselves in their work and turn in the best quality they can, unlike a few of the American MTs we’ve had that turn in less than perfect work, don’t take direction and refuse to change bad habits, and ask for more work just to make more money. Juliann Shapin
non-American MTs
Gee you are a foreigner...you are not an American...so should American companies not hire you because you are taking the American dollars away from Americans? Would you feel the same way about hiring British MTs or French MTs?
No, he IS American. Which is of course (nm)
.
Are you American?
nm
They took American and MT out of their name...
That about sums it up! I guess they can take our money for their self-serving agenda, but don't expect them to use American or MT in their name anymore. Thanks for NOTHING Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity. What a joke you always have been and still are....
Well, no WONDER you can't get American
Of course, don't think for a minute that INDIAN MTs don't read these boards. So now THEY know what kind of an employer you are, too! I hope one of them gets ahold of a sensitive medical record of YOURS someday, and holds it for ransom like that Pakistani MT did, and sells your SS#.
Are you American? If not, why don't you go to
the board in your own country? If you are American, then why not do something about helping Americans get jobs? Can you answer these questions?
100% American
.
American company
A company from Maine wants to hire me (if I pass their testing). THing is, they hardly discussed a thing with me about anything. THey only want to pay me 7-8 cents per line, but promise to provide me with the computer and all supplies that I need. I dont want to invest alot of time studying and stuff if they decide not to pay me or send the stuff. They only have one other canadian working for them as an IC (they pay american MTs really well as employees with benefits). Just seems kind of odd to me. THey are called Northeastern Transcription anyhow. I wish i could find a good company to work for that pays decent are and nice to work for. Me and hubby are both out of work presently!!

Jan from canada
CHRISTMAS IS AMERICAN
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Majority rules here in America. MOST people celebrate Christmas in this country. If I were in a Japanese country I would expect to see oriental things all over the place and if I were in Israel, I would expect to see Hannukah all over. What is wrong with people? The world has gone totally nuts.
Is anyone happy with American
They have some surgical positions that I'm interested in. Has anyone had good luck with them? What is the pay and insurance like? Or is it IC?
Assumed you were American..
which makes it more sad that you expect such poor quality of your very private personal medical records and others as well, not to mention the lack of privacy in another country. Go figure!!! No patriotism whatsoever. Shame on you.
Ever though it could be that American MTs don't want to put up with a boss like YOU!!!
American labor is the backbone of this country. You are part of a HUGE problem!!!!
AAMT--where's the American in it?
This is in reference to their teaching in the Phillipines.
I myself do NOT feel comfortable having my information sent overseas, including my name, DOB, and often SSN listed in the demographics screen of each note. I have heard stories of prosecution (or lack there of) by identity theft from people in other countries. Maybe Americans should start boycotting or protesting the healthcare industries that outsource overseas!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's why they keep american's ignorant
Thank your corporate media for reporting the government's propaganda... I think Americans have to learn the hard way that if they don't participate in democracy they will surely lose it.
The american "dream"
The american dream has now turned in to hoping you have the winning lotto numbers because you can't rely on anything anymore. Jobs are leaving and have left the US for places where employees make far less money. I just wonder how many more companies will follow and what will happen the the citizens of the US can no longer afford to buy any of the products made by these companies due to jobs being offshored. I honestly feel bad for those who have lost their jobs due to companies offshoring. Several family and friends of mine lost jobs when Maytag moved out. Unfortunately, most of them have jobs that pay so low they cannot afford to purchase Maytag products. I think the American Dream has pretty much disappeared. Some may still have some luck attaining it, but others will never have the chance. I think it's only a matter of time before more MT work is offshored to the point where the majority of us will have to find another line of work. Unfortunately, that work is going to be far less pay and not so great benefits. I'm sorry to all those at Heartland who have been laid off. I hope you all find something soon. I know down the road there will be many more of us in that situation as well.
American people need to know
I think the American public needs to know what is happening with their medical records and all their personal, private information.
All American Transcription
Does anyone know anything about this company? I got a call from them and wanted to check them out. I don't want to waste their time or mine. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
Yes, you said it!!! Any non-Native-American...nm
No, it is actually an American run company in
Garden City, NY. Now whether or not they also offshore, that I do not know.
?? American company
Please provide your information validating that this is now an American owned company. I believe the correct company name is SPi (not PSi), and from extensive research, SPi is actually now wholly owned by the Phillipine Long Distance Phone Company, but SPi will retain its name. None of my research discloses that an American company has purchased SPi, rather the opposite, another Phillipino company has purchased SPi recently. If you have validation that this is now an American-owned company, I would great appreciate this :)
but if the american quality were better..sm
Do you understand?
If they are going to pay transcriptionists and they are equal, then price is an issue. If americans were sooo much better, indians wouldn't be able to compete.
It's an American family; however
looking at their website, it does say they have significant private equity in India.
